¹Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?

¹तोहरे बीच लड़ाइ-झगड़ा क का कारन बाटेन? का ओनकर कारण तोहरे अपने ही भित्तर का वासना नाहीं बाटइ? तोहार उ भोग बिलासपूर्ण इच्छा भी जउन तोहरे भित्तर हमेसा द्वन्द्व करत रहत हीं?

²You lust, and don’t have. You kill, covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.

²तू लोग चाहत अहा परन्तु तोहे मिल नाहीं पावत। तोहमाँ ईर्सा बा अउर तू दुसरे क हतिया करत हया फिन जउन चाहत अहा, पाइ नाहीं सकत्या। अउर इही बरे तू लड़त-झगड़त रहत अहा अउर युद्ध करत अहा। आपन इच्छित चीजन क तू पाइ नाहीं सकत्या काहेकि तू ओन्हे परमेस्सर स नाहीं मँगत्या।

³You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.

³अउर जब मांगत भी अहा लेकिन पउत्या नाहीं काहेकि तोहार उद्देस्स पवित्तर नाहीं होत। काहेकि तू ओन्हे अपने भोग-बिलास मँ ही नस्ट करइ क बरे माँगत अहा।

⁴You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

⁴अरे, बिसवास बिहीन लोगो! का तू नाहीं जानत अहा कि संसार स पिरेम करइ का मतलब होत ह परमेस्सर स घिना करब जइसेन ही बाटइ? जउन कउनउ एह दुनिया स दोस्ती रखइ चाहत ह, उ अपने आपके परमेस्सर क सत्रु बनावत ह।

⁵Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?

⁵का तू अइसेन सोचत ह कि पवित्तर सास्तर अइसेन बेकारइ मँ कहत ह, “परमेस्सर तउ हमरे भित्तर जउन आतिमा दिहे अहइ, उ आतिमा केवल अपने बरे ही सोचत ह।”

⁶But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Proverbs 3:34

⁶परन्तु परमेस्सर तउ हम पे बहुत जियादा अनुग्रह दरसाए अहइ, इही बरे पवित्तर सास्तर मँ कहा गवा बा, “परमेस्सर घमंडियन क विरोधी अहइ जबकि विनम्र जनन पे आपन अनुग्रह दरसावत ह।”

⁷Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

⁷इही बरे अपने आपके परमेस्सर क अधीन कइ द्या। सइतान क विरोध करा। उ तोहरे सामने स भागि खड़ा होइ।

⁸Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

⁸पममेस्सर क लगे आवा, उहउ तोहरे लगे आवइ। अरे पापियन, आपन हाथ सुद्ध करा अउर अरे संदेह करइवालन, अपने हिरदइ क पवित्तर करा।

⁹Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.

⁹सोक करा, बिलाप करा अउर रोवा। होइ सकत ह तोहरे इ हँसी सोक मँ बदलि जाइ अउर तोहरे इ खुसी बिसाद मँ बदलि जाइ।

¹⁰Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

¹⁰पर्भू क सामने खुद क नवावा। उ तोहे ऊँचा उठाई।

¹¹Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

¹¹भाइयो तथा बहिनियो, एक दुसरे क विरोध मँ बुरा बोलब बन्द करा। जउन अपने ही भाई क विरोध मँ बुरा बोलत हीं, अउर ओका दोसी ठहरावत हीं, उ व्यवस्था क दोसी ठहरत ह। अउर उ व्यवस्था प दोस लगावत अहा अउर यदि तू व्यवस्था प दोस लगावत अहा तउ व्यवस्था क पालन करइवाला नाहीं रहत्या बरन स्वयं ओकरे निआवकर्ता बन जात अहा।

¹²Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?

¹²लेकिन व्यवस्था क देइवाला अउर ओकर निआव करइवाला तउ बस एक्कइ बा। अउर उहइ रच्छा कइ सकत ह अउर उहइ खतम करत अहइ। तू फिन अपने साथी क निआव करइवाला तू कउन होत ह्या?

¹³Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”

¹³अइसेन कहइवाले सुना, “आजु या काल्हि हम एह या ओह नगर मँ जाइके एक साल भर उहाँ व्यपार मँ धन लगाइके बहुत स पइसा बनाइ लेबइ।”

¹⁴Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.

¹⁴परन्तु तू त एतनउ नाहीं जनत्या कि काल्हि तोहरे जीवन मँ का होइ! देखा! तू त ओह धुंध क समान अहा जउन रचिके देर बरे देखॉत ह अउर फिन खोइ जात ह।

¹⁵For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”

¹⁵तउन एकरे स्थान प तोहका तउ हमेसा इहइ कहइ चाही, “यदि पर्भू की इच्छा होइ तउ हम जीवित रहबइ अउर इ या उ काम भी करबइ।”

¹⁶But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.

¹⁶परन्तु स्थिति तउ इ बा कि तू तउ अपने आडम्बर पइ खुदइ गरब करत ह्या। अइसेन सब गरब बुरा बाटइ।

¹⁷To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.

¹⁷तउ फिन इ जानत भए इ उचित बा, ओका न करब पाप बा।
