1Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
1 Ymladdodd y Philistiaid yn erbyn yr Israeliaid, a ffodd yr Israeliaid rhagddynt gan syrthio'n glwyfedig ar Fynydd Gilboa.
2The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
2 Daliodd y Philistiaid Saul a'i feibion, a lladd Jonathan, Abinadab a Malcisua, meibion Saul.
3The battle went hard against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was distressed by reason of the archers.
3 Aeth y frwydr yn galed yn erbyn Saul, a daeth saethwyr o hyd iddo a'i glwyfo.
4Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me.” But his armor bearer would not; for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell on it.
4 Yna dywedodd Saul wrth ei gludydd arfau, "Tyn dy gleddyf a thrywana fi, rhag i'r rhai dienwaededig hyn ddod a'm gwaradwyddo." Nid oedd ei gludydd arfau yn fodlon, oherwydd yr oedd ofn mawr arno; felly cymerodd Saul y cleddyf a syrthio arno.
5When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died.
5 Pan welodd y cludydd arfau fod Saul wedi marw, syrthiodd yntau ar ei gleddyf a marw.
6So Saul died, and his three sons; and all his house died together.
6 Felly bu farw Saul a'i dri mab, ei holl deulu yn marw yr un pryd.
7When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.
7 Pan welodd yr holl Israeliaid oedd yn y dyffryn fod y fyddin wedi ffoi, a bod Saul a'i feibion wedi marw, gadawsant eu trefi a ffoi; yna daeth y Philistiaid a byw ynddynt.
8It happened on the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
8 Trannoeth, pan ddaeth y Philistiaid i ysbeilio'r lladdedigion, cawsant Saul a'i feibion yn farw ar Fynydd Gilboa.
9They stripped him, and took his head, and his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry the news to their idols, and to the people.
9 Wedi iddynt ei ysbeilio torasant ei ben a chymryd ei arfau oddi arno, ac anfon neges drwy Philistia i gyhoeddi'r newydd da i'w delwau ac i'r bobl.
10They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.
10 Rhoesant ei arfau yn nheml eu duwiau, a chrogi ei benglog yn nheml Dagon.
11When all Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
11 Pan glywodd pobl Jabes-gilead y cwbl yr oedd y Philistiaid wedi ei wneud i Saul,
12all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
12 aeth yr holl ryfelwyr allan ar unwaith a chymryd corff Saul a chyrff ei feibion, a'u cludo i Jabes a chladdu eu hesgyrn dan y dderwen yno, ac ymprydio am saith diwrnod.
13So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Yahweh, because of the word of Yahweh, which he didn’t keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire,
13 Bu Saul farw am iddo fradychu'r ARGLWYDD trwy anufuddhau i'w air, a throi at ddewiniaeth am arweiniad yn lle ceisio arweiniad gan yr ARGLWYDD.
14and didn’t inquire of Yahweh: therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
14 Felly lladdodd yr ARGLWYDD ef a rhoi'r frenhiniaeth i Ddafydd fab Jesse.
