1 Kings

12

1Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
1 Aeth Rehoboam i Sichem, gan mai i Sichem y daethai holl Israel i'w urddo'n frenin.
2It happened, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was yet in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam lived in Egypt,
2 Pan glywodd Jeroboam fab Nebat, a oedd o hyd yn yr Aifft, lle'r oedd wedi ffoi rhag y Brenin Solomon, arhosodd yn yr Aifft.
3and they sent and called him), that Jeroboam and all the assembly of Israel came, and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
3 Ond galwasant amdano, a daeth Jeroboam a holl gynulliad Israel a dweud wrth Rehoboam,
4“Your father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make you the grievous service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”
4 "Trymhaodd dy dad ein hiau; os gwnei di'n awr ysgafnhau peth ar gaethiwed caled dy dad a'r iau drom a osododd arnom, yna fe'th wasanaethwn."
5He said to them, “Depart for three days, then come back to me.” The people departed.
5 Dywedodd yntau wrthynt, "Ewch i ffwrdd am dridiau, ac yna dewch yn l ataf." Aeth y bobl.
6King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me to return answer to this people?”
6 Ymgynghorodd Rehoboam 'r henuriaid oedd yn llys ei dad Solomon pan oedd yn fyw, a gofynnodd, "Sut y byddech chwi'n fy nghynghori i ateb y bobl hyn?"
7They spoke to him, saying, “If you will be a servant to this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”
7 Eu hateb oedd, "Os byddi di heddiw yn was i'r bobl hyn, a'u gwasanaethu a'u hateb geiriau teg, byddant yn weision i ti am byth."
8But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.
8 Ond gwrthododd y cyngor a roes yr henuriaid, a cheisiodd gyngor y llanciau oedd yn gyfoed ag ef ac yn aelodau o'i lys.
9He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter?’”
9 Gofynnodd iddynt hwy, "Beth ydych chwi'n fy nghynghori i ateb y bobl hyn sy'n dweud wrthyf, 'Ysgafnha rywfaint ar yr iau a osododd dy dad arnom'? "
10The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell this people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us;’ you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.
10 Atebodd y llanciau oedd yn gyfoed ag ef, "Fel hyn y dywedi wrth y bobl hyn sy'n dweud wrthyt: 'Gwnaeth dy dad ein hiau yn drwm; ysgafnha dithau arnom.' Ie, dyma a ddywedi wrthynt: 'Y mae fy mys bach i yn braffach na llwynau fy nhad!
11Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”
11 Mae'n wir i'm tad osod iau drom arnoch, ond fe'i gwnaf fi hi'n drymach. Cystwyodd fy nhad chwi chwip, ond fe'ch cystwyaf fi chwi ffrewyll!'"
12So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”
12 Pan ddaeth Jeroboam a'r holl bobl at Rehoboam ar y trydydd dydd, yn l gorchymyn y brenin, "Dewch yn l ataf ymhen tridiau",
13The king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him,
13 atebodd y brenin hwy'n chwyrn. Diystyrodd gyngor yr henuriaid, a derbyn cyngor y llanciau.
14and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”
14 Dywedodd wrthynt, "Trymhaodd fy nhad eich iau, ond fe'i gwnaf fi hi'n drymach; cystwyodd fy nhad chwi chwip, ond fe'ch cystwyaf fi chwi ffrewyll!"
15So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was a thing brought about of Yahweh, that he might establish his word, which Yahweh spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
15 Felly ni wrandawodd y brenin ar y bobl, oherwydd fel hyn y tynghedwyd gan yr ARGLWYDD, er mwyn i'r ARGLWYDD gyflawni'r gair a lefarodd drwy Aheia o Seilo wrth Jeroboam fab Nebat.
16When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion have we in David? Neither do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So Israel departed to their tents.
16 A phan welodd holl Israel nad oedd y brenin am wrando arnynt, daeth ateb oddi wrth y bobl at y brenin: "Pa ran sydd i ni yn Nafydd? Nid oes cyfran inni ym mab Jesse. Adref i'th bebyll, Israel! Edrych at dy du375? dy hun, Ddafydd!" Yna aeth Israel adref.
17But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
17 Ond yr oedd rhai Israeliaid yn byw yn nhrefi Jwda, a Rehoboam yn frenin arnynt.
18Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
18 Pan anfonodd y brenin atynt Adoram, goruchwyliwr y llafur gorfod, llabyddiodd yr Israeliaid ef a'i ladd; ond llwyddodd y Brenin Rehoboam i gyrraedd ei gerbyd a ffoi i Jerwsalem.
19So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.
19 Ac y mae Israel mewn gwrthryfel yn erbyn llinach Dafydd hyd heddiw.
20It happened, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
20 Wedi i Israel gyfan glywed fod Jeroboam wedi dychwelyd, anfonasant i'w wahodd i'r gymanfa, a'i urddo'n frenin dros Israel gyfan. Nid oedd ond llwyth Jwda'n unig yn glynu wrth linach Dafydd.
21When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
21 Pan ddychwelodd Rehoboam i Jerwsalem, galwodd ynghyd holl dylwyth Jwda a llwyth Benjamin, cant a phedwar ugain o filoedd o ryfelwyr dethol, i ryfela yn erbyn Israel i adennill y frenhiniaeth i Rehoboam fab Solomon.
22But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
22 Ond daeth gair Duw at Semaia, gu373?r Duw:
23“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,
23 "Dywed wrth Rehoboam fab Solomon, brenin Jwda, ac wrth holl bobl Jwda a Benjamin a phawb arall,
24‘Thus says Yahweh, “You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers, the children of Israel. Everyone return to his house; for this thing is of me.”’” So they listened to the word of Yahweh, and returned and went their way, according to the word of Yahweh.
24 'Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: Peidiwch mynd i ryfela yn erbyn eich brodyr yr Israeliaid; ewch yn l adref bob un, gan mai oddi wrthyf fi y daw hyn.'" A gwrandawsant ar air yr ARGLWYDD, a dychwelyd adref yn l gair yr ARGLWYDD.
25Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and lived in it; and he went out from there, and built Penuel.
25 Adeiladodd Jeroboam Sichem ym mynydd-dir Effraim i fyw yno, ond wedyn gadawodd y fan ac adeiladu Penuel.
26Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will return to the house of David.
26 Meddyliodd Jeroboam, "Yn awr, efallai y dychwel y frenhiniaeth at linach Dafydd.
27If this people goes up to offer sacrifices in the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, even to Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.”
27 Os 'r bobl hyn i offrymu yn nhu375?'r ARGLWYDD yn Jerwsalem, yna fe fydd calon y bobl hyn yn troi'n l at eu meistr, Rehoboam brenin Jwda; fe'm lladdant i a dychwelyd at Rehoboam brenin Jwda."
28Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said to them, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Look and see your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”
28 Felly cymerodd y brenin gyngor a gwneud dau lo aur, a dweud wrth y bobl, "Y mae'n ormod i chwi fynd i fyny i Jerwsalem; dyma dy dduwiau, Israel, y rhai a ddaeth chwi i fyny o'r Aifft."
29He set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.
29 Gosodwyd un eilun i fyny ym Methel, a rhoi'r llall yn Dan.
30This thing became a sin; for the people went to worship before the one, even to Dan.
30 Ond bu hyn yn achos pechu, oherwydd yr oedd y bobl yn mynd i addoli'r naill i Fethel a'r llall i Dan.
31He made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.
31 Wedi iddo godi uchelfeydd, urddodd offeiriaid o blith y bobl i gyd, heb iddynt fod yn Lefiaid.
32Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah, and he went up to the altar; he did so in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.
32 Sefydlodd Jeroboam u373?yl o bererindod ar y pymthegfed dydd o'r wythfed mis, fel yr u373?yl o bererindod oedd yn Jwda; ac yr oedd yntau yn offrymu ar yr allor. Dyna sut y gwni ym Methel, ac aberthu i'r lloi a luniodd; hefyd fe osododd ym Methel offeiriaid yr uchelfeydd a godwyd ganddo.
33He went up to the altar which he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart: and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up to the altar, to burn incense.
33 Fe offrymodd ar yr allor a wnaeth ym Methel ar y pymthegfed dydd o'r wythfed mis. Dyfeisiodd ddyddiad iddo'i hun, lluniodd u373?yl o bererindod i'r Israeliaid ac aeth ef ei hun at yr allor i offrymu.
