1Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, “Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.”
1 Ymhen tua mis aeth Nahas yr Ammoniad i fyny a gwersyllu yn erbyn Jabes-gilead. Dywedodd holl wu375?r Jabes wrth Nahas, "Gwna gytundeb ni, ac fe'th wasanaethwn."
2Nahash the Ammonite said to them, “On this condition I will make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out; and I will lay it for a reproach on all Israel.”
2 Atebodd Nahas yr Ammoniad, "Ar un amod y gwnaf gytundeb chwi bod tynnu llygad de pob un ohonoch; a gosodaf hyn yn sarhad ar Israel gyfan."
3The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Give us seven day, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you.”
3 Yna meddai henuriaid Jabes wrtho, "Rho inni egwyl o wythnos i anfon negeswyr drwy derfynau Israel i gyd, ac os na chawn neb i'n gwaredu, down allan atat."
4Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
4 Daeth y negeswyr at Gibea Saul ac adrodd am hyn yng nghlyw'r bobl, a chododd pawb ei lais ac wylo.
5Behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, “What ails the people that they weep?” They told him the words of the men of Jabesh.
5 Yna daeth Saul o'r maes yn dilyn ei wedd o ychen a gofynnodd, "Beth sydd ar y bobl, yn wylo?" A mynegwyd wrtho helyntion gwu375?r Jabes.
6The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly.
6 Pan glywodd y pethau hyn, disgynnodd ysbryd Duw ar Saul, a ffromodd yn enbyd.
7He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, “Whoever doesn’t come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen.” The dread of Yahweh fell on the people, and they came out as one man.
7 Cymerodd yr ychen a'u darnio a'u hanfon drwy holl derfynau Israel yn llaw y negeswyr gyda'r neges, "Pwy bynnag na ddaw allan ar l Saul a Samuel, dyma a wneir i'w ychen." Syrthiodd ofn oddi wrth yr ARGLWYDD ar y genedl, a daethant allan fel un.
8He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
8 Rhifwyd hwy yn Besec, ac yr oedd tri chan mil o Israeliaid a deng mil ar hugain o Jwdeaid.
9They said to the messengers who came, “Thus you shall tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, ‘Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.’” The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
9 A dywedwyd wrth y negeswyr a ddaeth o Jabes, "Dywedwch wrth bobl Jabes-gilead, 'Erbyn canol dydd yfory cewch waredigaeth.'" Pan gyrhaeddodd y negeswyr a dweud wrth bobl Jabes, bu llawenydd.
10Therefore the men of Jabesh said, “Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you.”
10 A dywedodd gwu375?r Jabes wrth Nahas, "Yfory down allan atoch a chewch wneud a fynnoch ni."
11It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
11 Trannoeth, rhannodd Saul y bobl yn dair mintai, a daethant i ganol y gwersyll yn ystod y wyliadwriaeth fore a tharo'r Ammoniaid hyd ganol dydd; chwalwyd y gweddill oedd ar l, fel nad oedd dau ohonynt gyda'i gilydd.
12The people said to Samuel, “Who is he who said, ‘Shall Saul reign over us?’ Bring those men, that we may put them to death!”
12 Yna dywedodd y bobl wrth Samuel, "Pwy oedd yn dweud, 'A gaiff Saul deyrnasu trosom?'? Dygwch y dynion, a rhown hwy i farwolaeth."
13Saul said, “There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today Yahweh has worked deliverance in Israel.”
13 Ond dywedodd Saul, "Ni roddir neb i farwolaeth ar y dydd hwn, a'r ARGLWYDD wedi ennill y fath fuddugoliaeth heddiw yn Israel."
14Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.”
14 Dywedodd Samuel wrth y bobl, "Dewch, awn i Gilgal ac adnewyddu'r frenhiniaeth yno."
15All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Yahweh in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Yahweh; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
15 Felly aeth y bobl i gyd i Gilgal, a gwneud Saul yn frenin yno yn Gilgal yng ngu373?ydd yr ARGLWYDD, ac aberthu heddoffrymau yno o flaen yr ARGLWYDD. A bu Saul a holl wu375?r Israel yn llawen iawn yno.
