1Now the Philistines had taken the ark of God, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
1 Wedi i'r Philistiaid gipio arch Duw, dygwyd hi o Eben-eser i Asdod;
2The Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
2 yno dygodd y Philistiaid hi i deml Dagon, a'i gosod wrth ochr Dagon.
3When they of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon was fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Yahweh. They took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
3 Pan gododd yr Asdodiaid fore trannoeth, gwelsant Dagon wedi syrthio i lawr ar ei wyneb o flaen arch yr ARGLWYDD.
4When they arose early on the next day morning, behold, Dagon was fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Yahweh; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold. Only Dagon’s torso was intact.
4 Yna codasant Dagon, a'i roi'n l yn ei le. Bore trannoeth, wedi iddynt godi, gwelsant Dagon wedi syrthio i lawr ar ei wyneb o flaen arch yr ARGLWYDD, a phen a dwy law Dagon ar y trothwy wedi eu torri i ffwrdd, a dim ond corff Dagon ar l ganddo.
5Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any who come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod, to this day.
5 Dyna pam nad yw offeiriaid Dagon, na neb sy'n dod i'w deml, yn sangu ar drothwy Dagon yn Asdod hyd y dydd hwn.
6But the hand of Yahweh was heavy on them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and struck them with tumors, even Ashdod and its borders.
6 Bu llaw'r ARGLWYDD yn drwm ar yr Asdodiaid. Parodd arswyd ar Asdod a'i chyffiniau, a'u taro chornwydydd.
7When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us; for his hand is severe on us, and on Dagon our god.”
7 Pan welodd gwu375?r Asdod mai felly'r oedd, dywedasant, "Ni chaiff arch Duw Israel aros gyda ni, oherwydd y mae ei law yn drwm arnom ni ac ar ein duw Dagon."
8They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines to them, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried over to Gath.” They carried the ark of the God of Israel there.
8 Wedi iddynt anfon a chasglu atynt holl arglwyddi'r Philistiaid, gofynasant, "Beth a wnawn ag arch Duw Israel?" Atebasant hwythau, "Aed arch Duw Israel draw i Gath." Felly aethant ag arch Duw Israel yno.
9It was so, that after they had carried it about, the hand of Yahweh was against the city with a very great confusion: and he struck the men of the city, both small and great; and tumors broke out on them.
9 Ond wedi iddynt fynd hi yno, bu llaw'r ARGLWYDD ar y ddinas a pheri difrod mawr iawn, trawyd pobl y ddinas yn hen ac ifainc, a thorrodd y cornwydydd allan arnynt hwythau.
10So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. It happened, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people.”
10 Anfonasant arch Duw i Ecron, ond pan gyrhaeddodd yno, cwynodd pobl Ecron, "Y maent wedi dod ag arch Duw Israel atom ni i'n lladd ni a'n teuluoedd."
11They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly confusion throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
11 Felly anfonasant i gasglu ynghyd holl arglwyddi'r Philistiaid a dweud, "Anfonwch arch Duw Israel yn l i'w lle ei hun, rhag iddi'n lladd ni a'n teuluoedd."
12The men who didn’t die were struck with the tumors; and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
12 Yr oedd ofn angau drwy'r holl ddinas am fod llaw Duw mor drwm yno, a hyd yn oed y rhai a arbedwyd rhag marwolaeth wedi eu taro 'r cornwydydd; ac esgynnai gwaedd y ddinas i'r entrychion.
