1 Samuel

9

1Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjamite, a mighty man of valor.
1 Yr oedd gu373?r blaenllaw yn Benjamin o'r enw Cis fab Abiel, fab Seror, fab Becorath, fab Affeia,
2He had a son, whose name was Saul, an impressive young man; and there was not among the children of Israel a better person than he. From his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.
2 a chanddo fab o'r enw Saul, gu373?r ifanc golygus nad oedd ei well ymysg yr Israeliaid, ac yn dalach o'i ysgwyddau i fyny na neb arall.
3The donkeys of Kish, Saul’s father, were lost. Kish said to Saul his son, “Take now one of the servants with you, and arise, go seek the donkeys.”
3 Aeth asennod Cis tad Saul ar goll, a dywedodd Cis wrth ei fab Saul, "Cymer un o'r gweision a dos i chwilio am yr asennod."
4He passed through the hill country of Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they didn’t find them: then they passed through the land of Shaalim, and there they weren’t there: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they didn’t find them.
4 Aethant drwy fynydd-dir Effraim a thrwy ardal Salisa, ond heb eu cael; yna mynd drwy ardal Saalim, ond nid oedd dim o'u hanes yno; ac yna drwy diriogaeth Benjamin, ond eto heb eu cael.
5When they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, “Come, and let us return, lest my father stop caring about the donkeys, and be anxious for us.”
5 Wedi iddynt ddod i ardal Suff, dywedodd Saul wrth y gwas oedd gydag ef, "Tyrd, awn yn l, rhag i 'nhad anghofio'r asennod a dechrau poeni amdanom ni."
6He said to him, “See now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is a man who is held in honor. All that he says comes surely to pass. Now let us go there. Perhaps he can tell us concerning our journey whereon we go.”
6 Ac meddai'r gwas wrtho, "Edrych, y mae yma u373?r Duw yn y dref hon sy'n uchel ei glod, a phopeth a ddywed yn sicr o ddigwydd. Gad inni fynd ato, ac efallai y dywed wrthym pa ffordd y dylem fynd."
7Then Saul said to his servant, “But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?”
7 Ond dywedodd Saul wrth ei was, "A bwrw'n bod ni'n mynd, beth a ddygwn ni i'r dyn? Y mae hyd yn oed y bara yn ein paciau wedi darfod; nid oes gennym unrhyw rodd i'w chynnig i u373?r Duw. Beth sydd gennym?"
8The servant answered Saul again, and said, “Behold, I have in my hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver. I will give that to the man of God, to tell us our way.”
8 Atebodd y gwas eto a dweud wrth Saul, "Wel, y mae'n digwydd bod gennyf fi chwarter sicl; fe'i rhoddaf i u373?r Duw am ddweud y ffordd wrthym."
9(In earlier times in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he said, “Come, and let us go to the seer”; for he who is now called a prophet was before called a Seer.)
9 (Yn Israel gynt, fel hyn y dywedai rhywun wrth fynd i ymgynghori Duw, "Dewch ac awn at y gweledydd." Oherwydd gynt "gweledydd" oedd yr enw ar broffwyd.)
10Then Saul said to his servant, “Well said. Come, let us go.” So they went to the city where the man of God was.
10 Dywedodd Saul wrth ei was, "Awgrym da. Tyrd, fe awn." Ac aethant i'r dref lle'r oedd gu373?r Duw.
11As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, “Is the seer here?”
11 Fel yr oeddent yn dringo'r allt at y dref, gwelsant ferched ar eu ffordd i dynnu du373?r, a dyna ofyn iddynt, "A yw'r gweledydd yma?"
12They answered them, and said, “He is. Behold, he is before you. Hurry now, for he has come today into the city; for the people have a sacrifice today in the high place.
12 "Ydyw," meddent, "acw'n syth o'ch blaen; brysiwch, y mae newydd gyrraedd y dref, oherwydd y mae gan y bobl aberth heddiw yn yr uchelfa.
13As soon as you have come into the city, you shall immediately find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he come, because he blesses the sacrifice. Afterwards those who are invited eat. Now therefore go up; for at this time you shall find him.”
13 Os ewch i'r dref, fe'i daliwch cyn iddo fynd i'r uchelfa i fwyta; oherwydd ni fydd y bobl yn dechrau bwyta nes iddo gyrraedd, gan mai ef sy'n bendithio'r aberth cyn i'r gwahoddedigion fwyta. Ewch i fyny, ac fe'i cewch ar unwaith."
14They went up to the city. As they came within the city, behold, Samuel came out toward them, to go up to the high place.
14 Aethant tua'r dref, ac fel yr oeddent yn mynd i mewn iddi, dyna Samuel yn dod i'w cyfarfod ar ei ffordd i'r uchelfa.
15Now Yahweh had revealed to Samuel a day before Saul came, saying,
15 Yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD wedi rhybuddio Samuel ryw ddiwrnod cyn i Saul gyrraedd, a dweud,
16“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel; and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked on my people, because their cry has come to me.”
16 "Yr adeg yma yfory anfonaf atat ddyn o diriogaeth Benjamin, i'w eneinio'n dywysog ar fy mhobl Israel, ac fe wareda fy mhobl o law'r Philistiaid; oherwydd gwelais drueni fy mhobl, a daeth eu cri ataf."
17When Samuel saw Saul, Yahweh said to him, “Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! this same shall have authority over my people.”
17 Pan welodd Samuel Saul, dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD, "Dyma'r dyn y dywedais wrthyt amdano; hwn sydd i reoli fy mhobl."
18Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, “Please tell me where the seer’s house is.”
18 Daeth Saul i fyny at Samuel yng nghanol y porth a dweud wrtho, "A fyddi mor garedig dweud wrthyf ymhle y mae tu375?'r gweledydd?"
19Samuel answered Saul, and said, “I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you shall eat with me today. In the morning I will let you go, and will tell you all that is in your heart.
19 Atebodd Samuel, "Fi yw'r gweledydd; dos i fyny o'm blaen i'r uchelfa; cei fwyta gyda mi heddiw, a gollyngaf di ymaith yfory ar l dweud wrthyt bopeth sydd yn dy galon.
20As for your donkeys who were lost three days ago, don’t set your mind on them; for they are found. For whom is all that is desirable in Israel? Is it not for you, and for all your father’s house?”
20 Ac am yr asennod sydd ar goll gennyt ers tridiau, paid phoeni amdanynt, oherwydd cafwyd hwy. I bwy y mae popeth dymunol yn Israel? Onid i ti a'th holl deulu?"
21Saul answered, “Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me like this?”
21 Atebodd Saul, "Onid un o Benjamin wyf fi, o'r lleiaf o lwythau Israel? A'm tylwyth i yw'r distatlaf o holl dylwythau llwyth Benjamin. Pam, felly, yr wyt yn siarad fel hyn mi?"
22Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the guest room, and made them sit in the best place among those who were invited, who were about thirty persons.
22 Cymerodd Samuel Saul a'i was, a mynd hwy i'r neuadd a rhoi iddynt y lle blaenaf ymysg y gwahoddedigion; yr oedd tua deg ar hugain ohonynt.
23Samuel said to the cook, “Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, ‘Set it aside.’”
23 Yna dywedodd Samuel wrth y cogydd, "Estyn y darn a roddais iti pan ddywedais wrthyt, 'Cadw hwn o'r neilltu'."
24The cook took up the thigh, and that which was on it, and set it before Saul. Samuel said, “Behold, that which has been reserved! Set it before yourself and eat; because for the appointed time has it been kept for you, for I said, ‘I have invited the people.’” So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
24 Dygodd y cogydd y glun a'r hyn oedd arni, a'i gosod gerbron Saul a dweud, "Dyma'r hyn a gadwyd ar dy gyfer; bwyta, oherwydd fe'i cadwyd iti ar gyfer yr amser penodedig, i'w fwyta gyda'r gwahoddedigion." Bwytaodd Saul y diwrnod hwnnw gyda Samuel.
25When they had come down from the high place into the city, he talked with Saul on the housetop.
25 Wedi iddynt ddychwelyd o'r uchelfa i'r dref, gwnaethant wely i Saul ar ben y tu375?, a chysgodd yno.
26They arose early: and it happened about the spring of the day, that Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, “Get up, that I may send you away.” Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.
26 Pan dorrodd y wawr, galwodd Samuel ar Saul, ac yntau ar y to, a dweud, "Cod, imi gael dy anfon ymaith." Ac wedi i Saul godi, aeth y ddau allan, Samuel ac yntau.
27As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant pass on before us” (and he passed on), “but stand still first, that I may cause you to hear the word of God.”
27 Wedi iddynt ddod i gwr y dref, dywedodd Samuel wrth Saul, "Dywed wrth y gwas am fynd o'n blaen, ac wedyn aros di ennyd, imi fynegi gair Duw iti."
