2 Samuel

10

1It happened after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his place.
1 Wedi hyn bu farw brenin yr Ammoniaid, a daeth Hanun ei fab yn frenin yn ei le.
2David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
2 Dywedodd Dafydd, "Gwnaf garedigrwydd Hanun fab Nahas, fel y gwnaeth ei dad mi." Felly anfonodd neges ato gyda'i weision, i'w gysuro am ei dad. Ond pan ddaeth gweision Dafydd i wlad yr Ammoniaid,
3But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Hasn’t David sent his servants to you to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?”
3 dywedodd tywysogion yr Ammoniaid wrth eu harglwydd Hanun, "A wyt ti'n tybio mai anrhydeddu dy dad y mae Dafydd wrth anfon cysurwyr atat? Onid er mwyn chwilio'r ddinas a'i hysbo a'i goresgyn yr anfonodd Dafydd ei weision atat?"
4So Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
4 Yna cymerodd Hanun weision Dafydd, ac eillio hanner barf pob un ohonynt, a thorri gwisg pob un yn ei hanner hyd at ei gluniau, a'u hanfon ymaith.
5When they told it to David, he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”
5 Pan ddywedwyd hyn wrth Ddafydd, anfonodd rai i'w cyfarfod, am fod cywilydd mawr ar y dynion, a dweud wrthynt am aros yn Jericho a pheidio dychwelyd nes y byddai eu barfau wedi tyfu.
6When the children of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth Rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with one thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.
6 Pan welsant eu bod yn ffiaidd gan Ddafydd, anfonodd yr Ammoniaid a chyflogi ugain mil o wu375?r traed oddi wrth y Syriaid yn Beth-rehob a Soba, a hefyd mil o wu375?r oddi wrth frenin Maacha a deuddeng mil o wu375?r Tob.
7When David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the army of the mighty men.
7 Pan glywodd Dafydd, anfonodd Joab allan gyda'r holl fyddin a'r milwyr.
8The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
8 Daeth yr Ammoniaid allan a ffurfio rhengoedd ar gyfer y frwydr ger porth y ddinas, gyda Syriaid o Soba a Rehob, a gwu375?r Tob a Maacha ar eu pennau eu hunain mewn tir agored.
9Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
9 Gwelodd Joab y byddai'n gorfod ymladd o'r tu blaen ac o'r tu l; felly dewisodd wu375?r dethol o fyddin Israel, a'u trefnu'n rhengoedd i wynebu'r Syriaid.
10The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the children of Ammon.
10 Gosododd weddill y fyddin dan awdurdod ei frawd Abisai, a'u trefnu'n rhengoedd i wynebu'r Ammoniaid.
11He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you.
11 A dywedodd, "Os bydd y Syriaid yn drech na mi, tyrd di i'm cynorthwyo; ond os bydd yr Ammoniaid yn drech na thi, dof finnau i'th gynorthwyo di.
12Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and Yahweh do that which seems good to him.”
12 Bydd yn wrol! Byddwn ddewr dros ein pobl a dinasoedd ein Duw; a bydded i'r ARGLWYDD wneud yr hyn sy'n dda yn ei olwg."
13So Joab and the people who were with him drew near to the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.
13 Yna nesaodd Joab a'r milwyr oedd gydag ef i ryfel yn erbyn y Syriaid, a ffoesant o'i flaen.
14When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
14 Pan welodd yr Ammoniaid fod y Syriaid wedi ffoi, ffoesant hwythau o flaen Abisai, a mynd i'r ddinas. Gadawodd Joab ei gyrch yn erbyn yr Ammoniaid, a dychwelodd i Jerwsalem.
15When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they gathered themselves together.
15 Pan welodd y Syriaid iddynt golli'r dydd o flaen Israel, daethant at ei gilydd eto,
16Hadadezer sent, and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
16 ac anfonodd Hadadeser i gyrchu'r Syriaid o Tu-hwnt-i'r-Ewffrates hefyd. Daethant ynghyd i Helam, gyda Sobach, pencapten Hadadeser, yn eu harwain.
17It was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. The Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.
17 Pan ddywedwyd wrth Ddafydd, fe gasglodd ynghyd Israel gyfan, croesodd yr Iorddonen, a dod i Helam. Trefnodd y Syriaid eu rhengoedd yn erbyn Dafydd a rhyfela yn ei erbyn.
18The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrians seven hundred charioteers, and forty thousand horsemen, and struck Shobach the captain of their army, so that he died there.
18 Ffodd y Syriaid o flaen Israel, a lladdodd Dafydd ohonynt saith gant o wu375?r cerbyd a deugain mil o farchogion;
19When all the kings who were servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.
19 a hefyd fe drawodd Sobach, y pencapten, a bu yntau farw yno. Pan welodd yr holl frenhinoedd oedd dan awdurdod Hadadeser iddynt golli'r dydd o flaen Israel, gwnaethant heddwch ag Israel a phlygu i'w hawdurdod. Wedi hyn ofnai'r Syriaid roi rhagor o gymorth i'r Ammoniaid.
