2 Samuel

11

1It happened, at the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem.
1 Tua throad y flwyddyn, yr adeg y byddai'r brenhinoedd yn mynd i ryfela, fe anfonodd Dafydd Joab, gyda'i weision ei hun a byddin Israel gyfan, a distrywiasant yr Ammoniaid, a gosod Rabba dan warchae. Ond fe arhosodd Dafydd yn Jerwsalem.
2It happened at evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked on the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look on.
2 Un prynhawn yr oedd Dafydd wedi codi o'i wely ac yn cerdded ar do'r palas. Oddi yno gwelodd wraig yn ymolchi, a hithau'n un brydferth iawn.
3David sent and inquired after the woman. One said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”
3 Anfonodd Dafydd i holi pwy oedd y wraig, a chael yr ateb, "Onid Bathseba ferch Eliam, gwraig Ureia yr Hethiad, yw hi?"
4David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned to her house.
4 Anfonodd Dafydd negeswyr i'w dwyn ato, ac wedi iddi ddod, gorweddodd yntau gyda hi. Yr oedd hi wedi ei glanhau o'i haflendid. Yna dychwelodd hi adref.
5The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.”
5 Beichiogodd y wraig, ac anfonodd i hysbysu Dafydd ei bod yn feichiog.
6David sent to Joab, “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” Joab sent Uriah to David.
6 Anfonodd Dafydd at Joab, "Anfon ataf Ureia yr Hethiad."
7When Uriah had come to him, David asked of him how Joab did, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered.
7 Pan gyrhaeddodd Ureia, holodd Dafydd hynt Joab a hynt y fyddin a'r rhyfel.
8David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house, and wash your feet.” Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and a gift from the king was sent after him.
8 Yna dywedodd Dafydd wrth Ureia, "Dos i lawr adref a golchi dy draed." Pan adawodd Ureia du375?'r brenin anfonwyd rhodd o fwyd y brenin ar ei l.
9But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and didn’t go down to his house.
9 Ond gorweddodd Ureia yn nrws y palas gyda gweision ei feistr, ac nid aeth i'w du375? ei hun.
10When they had told David, saying, “Uriah didn’t go down to his house,” David said to Uriah, “Haven’t you come from a journey? Why didn’t you go down to your house?”
10 Pan fynegwyd wrth Ddafydd nad oedd Ureia wedi mynd adref, dywedodd Dafydd wrth Ureia, "Onid o daith y daethost ti? Pam nad aethost adref?"
11Uriah said to David, “The ark, Israel, and Judah, are staying in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open field. Shall I then go into my house to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing!”
11 Atebodd Ureia, "Y mae'r arch, ac Israel a Jwda hefyd, yn trigo mewn pebyll, ac y mae f'arglwydd Joab a gweision f'arglwydd yn gwersylla yn yr awyr agored. A wyf fi am fynd adref i fwyta ac yfed, ac i orwedd gyda'm gwraig? Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, a thithau hefyd, ni wnaf y fath beth!"
12David said to Uriah, “Stay here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart.” So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day, and the next day.
12 Dywedodd Dafydd wrth Ureia, "Aros di yma heddiw eto, ac anfonaf di'n l yfory." Felly arhosodd Ureia yn Jerwsalem y diwrnod hwnnw.
13When David had called him, he ate and drink before him; and he made him drunk. At evening, he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but didn’t go down to his house.
13 A thrannoeth gwahoddodd Dafydd ef i fwyta ac yfed gydag ef, a gwnaeth ef yn feddw. Pan aeth allan gyda'r nos, gorweddodd ar ei wely gyda gweision ei feistr, ac nid aeth adref.
14It happened in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
14 Felly yn y bore ysgrifennodd Dafydd lythyr at Joab a'i anfon gydag Ureia.
15He wrote in the letter, saying, “Send Uriah to the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck, and die.”
15 Ac yn y llythyr yr oedd wedi ysgrifennu, "Rhowch Ureia ar flaen y gad lle mae'r frwydr boethaf; yna ciliwch yn l oddi wrtho, er mwyn iddo gael ei daro'n farw."
16It happened, when Joab kept watch on the city, that he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.
16 Pan oedd Joab yn gwarchae ar y ddinas, gosododd Ureia yn y lle y gwyddai fod ymladdwyr dewr.
17The men of the city went out, and fought with Joab. Some of the people fell, even of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
17 A phan ddaeth milwyr y ddinas allan ac ymladd yn erbyn Joab, syrthiodd rhai o weision Dafydd yn y fyddin, a bu farw Ureia yr Hethiad hefyd.
18Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;
18 Yna anfonodd Joab i hysbysu holl hanes y frwydr i Ddafydd.
19and he commanded the messenger, saying, “When you have finished telling all the things concerning the war to the king,
19 Gorchmynnodd i'r negesydd, "Wedi iti orffen dweud holl hanes y frwydr wrth y brenin,
20it shall be that, if the king’s wrath arise, and he asks you, ‘Why did you go so near to the city to fight? Didn’t you know that they would shoot from the wall?
20 yna os bydd y brenin yn llidio ac yn dweud wrthyt: 'Pam yr aethoch mor agos at y ddinas i ryfela? Onid oeddech yn gwybod y byddent yn saethu oddi ar y mur?
21who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? Didn’t a woman cast an upper millstone on him from the wall, so that he died at Thebez? Why did you go so near the wall?’ then you shall say, ‘Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.’”
21 Pwy laddodd Abimelech fab Jerwbbeseth? Onid gwraig yn gollwng maen melin arno oddi ar y mur yn Thebes, ac yntau'n marw? Pam yr aethoch mor agos at y mur?' yna dywed tithau, 'Y mae dy was Ureia yr Hethiad hefyd wedi marw'."
22So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.
22 Aeth y negesydd, a dod ac adrodd wrth Ddafydd y cwbl yr anfonodd Joab ef i'w ddweud.
23The messenger said to David, “The men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field, and we were on them even to the entrance of the gate.
23 Yna dywedodd y negesydd wrth Ddafydd, "Pan ymwrolodd y milwyr yn ein herbyn, a dod allan atom i'r maes agored, aethom ninnau yn eu herbyn hwy hyd at fynedfa'r porth,
24The shooters shot at your servants from off the wall; and some of the king’s servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.”
24 a saethodd y saethwyr at dy weision oddi ar y mur, a bu farw rhai o weision y brenin, ac y mae dy was Ureia yr Hethiad hefyd wedi marw."
25Then David said to the messenger, “Thus you shall tell Joab, ‘Don’t let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city, and overthrow it.’ Encourage him.”
25 Yna dywedodd Dafydd wrth y negesydd, "Dywed fel hyn wrth Joab, 'Paid gofidio am y peth hwn, oherwydd y mae'r cleddyf yn difa weithiau yma, weithiau acw; brwydra'n galetach yn erbyn y ddinas a distrywia hi'. Calonoga ef fel hyn."
26When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made lamentation for her husband.
26 Pan glywodd gwraig Ureia fod ei gu373?r wedi marw, galarodd am ei phriod.
27When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Yahweh.
27 Ac wedi i'r cyfnod galaru fynd heibio, anfonodd Dafydd a'i chymryd i'w du375?, a daeth hi'n wraig iddo ef, a geni mab iddo. Ond yr oedd yr hyn a wnaeth Dafydd yn ddrwg yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD.
