1Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart was toward Absalom.
1 Yr oedd Joab fab Serfia yn gwybod fod calon Dafydd yn troi at Absalom.
2Joab sent to Tekoa, and fetched there a wise woman, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil, but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.
2 Felly anfonodd Joab i Tecoa a chymryd oddi yno wraig ddoeth, a dywedodd wrthi, "Cymer arnat alaru a gwisg ddillad galar, a phaid 'th eneinio dy hun; bydd fel gwraig sydd ers amser maith yn galaru am y marw.
3Go in to the king, and speak like this to him.” So Joab put the words in her mouth.
3 A dos at y brenin, a dywed fel hyn wrtho" a gosododd Joab y geiriau yn ei genau.
4When the woman of Tekoa spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, showed respect, and said, “Help, O king!”
4 Aeth y wraig o Tecoa at y brenin, a syrthiodd ar ei hwyneb i'r llawr a moesymgrymu; yna dywedodd, "Rho help, O frenin."
5The king said to her, “What ails you?” She answered, “Truly I am a widow, and my husband is dead.
5 Gofynnodd y brenin iddi, "Beth sy'n dy boeni?" Dywedodd hithau, "Gwraig weddw wyf fi a'm gu373?r wedi marw.
6Your handmaid had two sons, and they both fought together in the field, and there was no one to part them, but the one struck the other, and killed him.
6 Yr oedd gan dy lawforwyn ddau fab, ond cwerylodd y ddau allan yn y wlad, heb neb i'w gwahanu; a thrawodd un ohonynt y llall, a'i ladd.
7Behold, the whole family has risen against your handmaid, and they say, ‘Deliver him who struck his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he killed, and so destroy the heir also.’ Thus they would quench my coal which is left, and would leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the surface of the earth.”
7 Ac yn awr y mae'r holl dylwyth wedi codi yn erbyn dy lawforwyn, a dweud, 'Rho inni'r hwn a laddodd ei frawd, er mwyn inni ei ladd am fywyd y brawd a lofruddiodd; a difethwn yr etifedd hefyd.' Felly byddant yn diffodd y marworyn sydd ar l gennyf, fel na adewir i'm gu373?r nac enw nac epil ar wyneb daear."
8The king said to the woman, “Go to your house, and I will give a command concerning you.”
8 Dywedodd y brenin wrth y wraig, "Dos di adref, ac fe roddaf orchymyn yn dy gylch."
9The woman of Tekoa said to the king, “My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house; and the king and his throne be guiltless.”
9 Atebodd hithau, "Bydded yr euogrwydd arnaf fi, f'arglwydd frenin, ac ar fy nheulu i; a bydded y brenin a'i orsedd yn ddieuog."
10The king said, “Whoever says anything to you, bring him to me, and he shall not touch you any more.”
10 Dywedodd y brenin, "Pwy bynnag fydd yn yngan gair wrthyt, tyrd ag ef ataf fi, ac ni fydd yn dy boeni di byth mwy."
11Then she said, “Please let the king remember Yahweh your God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.”
11 Atebodd hithau, "Bydded i'r brenin ddwyn hyn i sylw'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw, rhag i'r dialwr gwaed ddistrywio eto, a rhag iddynt ddifetha fy mab." A dywedodd y brenin, "Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, ni chaiff blewyn o wallt pen dy fab syrthio i'r llawr."
12Then the woman said, “Please let your handmaid speak a word to my lord the king.” He said, “Say on.”
12 Yna dywedodd y wraig, "Gad i'th lawforwyn ddweud un gair eto wrth f'arglwydd frenin." Dywedodd yntau, "Dywed."
13The woman said, “Why then have you devised such a thing against the people of God? For in speaking this word the king is as one who is guilty, in that the king does not bring home again his banished one.
13 Ac meddai'r wraig, "Pam yr wyt wedi cynllunio fel hyn yn erbyn pobl Dduw? Wrth wneud y dyfarniad hwn y mae'r brenin fel un sy'n euog ei hun, am nad yw'n galw'n l yr un a alltudiodd.
14For we must die, and are as water split on the ground, which can’t be gathered up again; neither does God take away life, but devises means, that he who is banished not be an outcast from him.
14 Rhaid inni oll farw; yr ydym fel du373?r a dywelltir ar lawr ac ni ellir ei gasglu eto. Nid yw Duw yn adfer bywyd, ond y mae'n cynllunio ffordd rhag i'r alltud barhau'n alltud.
15Now therefore seeing that I have come to speak this word to my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and your handmaid said, ‘I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his servant.’
15 Yn awr, y rheswm y deuthum i ddweud y neges hon wrth f'arglwydd frenin oedd fod y bobl wedi codi ofn arnaf; a phenderfynodd dy lawforwyn, 'Fe siaradaf 'r brenin; efallai y bydd yn gwneud dymuniad ei forwyn.
16For the king will hear, to deliver his servant out of the hand of the man who would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.
16 Y mae'n siu373?r y gwrendy'r brenin, ac y bydd yn achub ei lawforwyn o law'r sawl sydd am fy nistrywio i a'm mab hefyd o etifeddiaeth Dduw.'
17Then your handmaid said, ‘Please let the word of my lord the king bring rest; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad. May Yahweh, your God, be with you.’”
17 Meddyliodd dy lawforwyn hefyd y byddai gair f'arglwydd frenin yn gysur, oherwydd y mae f'arglwydd frenin fel angel Duw, yn medru dirnad rhwng da a drwg. Bydded yr ARGLWYDD dy Dduw gyda thi."
18Then the king answered the woman, “Please don’t hide anything from me that I ask you.” The woman said, “Let my lord the king now speak.”
18 Dywedodd y brenin wrth y wraig, "Paid chelu oddi wrthyf un peth yr wyf am ei ofyn iti." Atebodd hithau, "Gofyn di, f'arglwydd frenin."
19The king said, “Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?” The woman answered, “As your soul lives, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right hand or to the left from anything that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab, he urged me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your handmaid;
19 Yna gofynnodd y brenin, "A yw llaw Joab gyda thi yn hyn i gyd?" Atebodd y wraig, "Cyn wired bod f'arglwydd frenin yn fyw, nid oes modd osgoi yr hyn a ddywedodd f'arglwydd frenin, ie, dy was Joab a roddodd orchymyn imi, ac ef a osododd y geiriau hyn i gyd yng ngenau dy lawforwyn.
20to change the face of the matter has your servant Joab done this thing. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”
20 Er mwyn rhoi agwedd wahanol ar y peth y gwnaeth dy was Joab hyn, ond y mae f'arglwydd cyn galled ag angel Duw i ddeall popeth ar wyneb daear."
21The king said to Joab, “Behold now, I have done this thing. Go therefore, bring the young man Absalom back.”
21 Dywedodd y brenin wrth Joab, "Edrych, yr wyf am wneud hyn; felly, dos a thyrd 'r llanc Absalom yn l."
22Joab fell to the ground on his face, showed respect, and blessed the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, my lord, king, in that the king has performed the request of his servant.”
22 Syrthiodd Joab ar ei wyneb i'r llawr, a moesymgrymodd a bendithio'r brenin, a dweud, "Fe u373?yr dy was heddiw imi ennill ffafr yn dy olwg, f'arglwydd frenin, am iti wneud dymuniad dy was."
23So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.
23 Aeth Joab ar unwaith i Gesur, a dod ag Absalom yn l i Jerwsalem.
24The king said, “Let him return to his own house, but let him not see my face.” So Absalom returned to his own house, and didn’t see the king’s face.
24 Ond dywedodd y brenin, "Aed i'w du375? ei hun; ni chaiff weld fy wyneb i." Felly aeth Absalom i'w du375? ac ni welodd wyneb y brenin.
25Now in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.
25 Trwy Israel gyfan nid oedd neb y gellid ei ganmol am ei harddwch fel Absalom; nid oedd mefl arno o wadn ei droed hyd ei gorun.
26When he cut the hair of his head (now it was at every year’s end that he cut it; because it was heavy on him, therefore he cut it); he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels, after the king’s weight.
26 Byddai'n eillio'i ben ar ddiwedd pob blwyddyn am fod ei wallt mor drwm, a phan bwysai'r gwallt oedd wedi ei eillio oddi ar ei ben, pwysai ddau can sicl yn l safon y brenin.
27To Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a beautiful face.
27 Ganwyd i Absalom dri mab, ac un ferch, o'r enw Tamar; yr oedd honno'n ferch brydferth.
28Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem; and he didn’t see the king’s face.
28 Arhosodd Absalom yn Jerwsalem am ddwy flynedd gyfan heb weld wyneb y brenin.
29Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king; but he would not come to him: and he sent again a second time, but he would not come.
29 Yna anfonodd am Joab, er mwyn iddo'i anfon at y brenin, ond nid oedd yn fodlon dod. Anfonodd eilwaith, ond yr oedd yn gwrthod dod.
30Therefore he said to his servants, “Behold, Joab’s field is near mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire.” Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.
30 Yna dywedodd wrth ei weision, "Edrychwch, y mae llain Joab yn ffinio ar f'un i, ac y mae haidd ganddo yno; ewch a rhowch hi ar dn." A dyna weision Absalom yn rhoi'r llain ar dn.
31Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom to his house, and said to him, “Why have your servants set my field on fire?”
31 Aeth Joab ar unwaith at Absalom i'w du375?, a gofyn iddo, "Pam y mae dy weision wedi rhoi fy llain i ar dn?"
32Absalom answered Joab, “Behold, I sent to you, saying, ‘Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me to be there still. Now therefore let me see the king’s face; and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.”’”
32 Ac meddai Absalom wrth Joab, "Edrych, fe anfonais atat a dweud, 'Tyrd yma imi dy anfon di at y brenin i ofyn pam y deuthum yn l o Gesur; byddai'n well arnaf pe bawn wedi aros yno.' Yn awr yr wyf am weld wyneb y brenin, ac os oes camwedd ynof, lladded fi."
33So Joab came to the king, and told him; and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.
33 Yna daeth Joab at y brenin ac adrodd yr hanes wrtho, a galwodd yntau Absalom ato; ac wedi iddo ddod at y brenin, moesymgrymodd iddo 'i wyneb i'r llawr o flaen y brenin, a rhoddodd y brenin gusan i Absalom.
