Daniel

4

1Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.
1 "Y Brenin Nebuchadnesar at yr holl bobloedd a chenhedloedd ac ieithoedd trwy'r byd i gyd. Bydded heddwch i chwi!
2It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked toward me.
2 Dewisais ddadlennu'r arwyddion a'r rhyfeddodau a wnaeth y Duw Goruchaf mi.
3How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
3 Mor fawr yw ei arwyddion ef, mor nerthol ei ryfeddodau! Y mae ei frenhiniaeth yn frenhiniaeth dragwyddol, a'i arglwyddiaeth o genhedlaeth i genhedlaeth.
4I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.
4 "Yr oeddwn i, Nebuchadnesar, yn mwynhau bywyd braf yn fy nhu375? a moethusrwydd yn fy llys.
5I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
5 Tra oeddwn ar fy ngwely, cefais freuddwyd a'm dychrynodd, a chynhyrfwyd fi gan fy nychmygion, a chododd fy ngweledigaethau arswyd arnaf.
6Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.
6 Gorchmynnais ddwyn ataf holl ddoethion Babilon i ddehongli fy mreuddwyd.
7Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation.
7 Pan ddaeth y dewiniaid, y swynwyr, y Caldeaid, a'r hudolwyr, adroddais y freuddwyd wrthynt, ond ni fedrent ei dehongli.
8But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and I told the dream before him, saying,
8 Yna daeth un arall ataf, sef Daniel, a elwir Beltesassar ar l fy nuw i, dyn yn llawn o ysbryd y duwiau sanctaidd; ac adroddais fy mreuddwyd wrtho:
9Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation.
9 'Beltesassar fy mhrif ddewin, gwn fod ysbryd y duwiau sanctaidd ynot ac nad oes dirgelwch sy'n rhy anodd i ti; gwrando ar y freuddwyd a welais, a mynega'i dehongliad.'
10Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great.
10 Dyma fy ngweledigaethau ar fy ngwely: Tra oeddwn yn edrych, gwelais goeden uchel iawn yng nghanol y ddaear.
11The tree grew, and was strong, and its height reached to the sky, and its sight to the end of all the earth.
11 Tyfodd y goeden yn fawr a chryf, a'i huchder yn cyrraedd i'r entrychion; yr oedd i'w gweld o bellteroedd byd.
12The leaves of it were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all: the animals of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the sky lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.
12 Yr oedd ei dail yn brydferth a'i ffrwyth yn niferus, ac ymborth arni i bopeth byw. Oddi tani ci anifeiliaid loches, a thrigai adar yr awyr yn ei changhennau, a chi pob creadur byw fwyd ohoni.
13I saw in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from the sky.
13 "Tra oeddwn ar fy ngwely, yn edrych ar fy ngweledigaethau, gwelwn wyliwr sanctaidd yn dod i lawr o'r nefoedd,
14He cried aloud, and said thus, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the animals get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches.
14 ac yn gweiddi'n uchel, 'Torrwch y goeden, llifiwch ei changhennau; tynnwch ei dail a gwasgarwch ei ffrwyth. Gwnewch i'r anifeiliaid ffoi o'i chysgod a'r adar o'i changhennau.
15Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth:
15 Ond gadewch y boncyff a'i wraidd yn y ddaear, a chadwyn o haearn a phres amdano yng nghanol y maes. Bydd gwlith y nefoedd yn ei wlychu, a bydd ei le gyda'r anifeiliaid sy'n pori'r ddaear.
16let his heart be changed from man’s, and let an animal’s heart be given to him; and let seven times pass over him.
16 Newidir y galon ddynol sydd ganddo a rhoir calon anifail iddo yn ei lle. Bydd hyn dros saith cyfnod.
17The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men.
17 Dedfryd y gwylwyr yw hyn, a dyma ddatganiad y rhai sanctaidd, er mwyn i bawb byw wybod mai'r Goruchaf sy'n rheoli teyrnasoedd pobl ac yn eu rhoi i'r sawl a fyn, ac yn gosod yr isaf yn ben arni.'
18This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and you, Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.
18 "Dyma'r freuddwyd a welais i, y Brenin Nebuchadnesar. Dywed tithau, Beltesassar, beth yw'r dehongliad, oherwydd ni fedr yr un o ddoethion fy nheyrnas ei dehongli imi, ond medri di, am fod ysbryd y duwiau sanctaidd ynot."
19Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered, Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered, My lord, the dream be to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries.
19 Aeth Daniel, a enwyd Beltesassar, yn fud am funud, a'i feddwl mewn penbleth. Dywedodd y brenin, "Paid gadael i'r freuddwyd a'r dehongliad dy boeni, Beltesassar." Atebodd yntau, "Boed hon yn freuddwyd i'th gaseion, a'i dehongliad i'th elynion.
20The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the sky, and its sight to all the earth;
20 Y goeden a welaist yn tyfu'n fawr a chryf, a'i huchder yn cyrraedd i'r entrychion ac i'w gweld o bellteroedd byd,
21whose leaves were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all; under which the animals of the field lived, and on whose branches the birds of the sky had their habitation:
21 a'i dail yn brydferth, a'i ffrwyth yn niferus, ac ymborth arni i bopeth, a lloches i anifeiliaid oddi tani, a chartref i adar yr awyr yn ei changhennau
22it is you, O king, that are grown and become strong; for your greatness is grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth.
22 ti, O frenin, yw'r goeden honno. Yr wyt wedi tyfu'n fawr a chryf, a'th fawredd wedi cynyddu ac wedi cyrraedd i'r entrychion, a'th frenhiniaeth yn ymestyn i bellteroedd byd.
23Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him;
23 Fe welaist hefyd, O frenin, wyliwr sanctaidd yn dod i lawr ac yn dweud, 'Torrwch y goeden a difethwch hi, ond gadewch y boncyff a'i wraidd yn y ddaear, a chadwyn o haearn a phres amdano yng nghanol y maes; bydd gwlith y nefoedd yn ei wlychu, a bydd ei le gyda'r anifeiliaid, hyd nes i saith cyfnod fynd heibio.'
24this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which has come on my lord the king:
24 Dyma'r dehongliad, O frenin: Datganiad y Goruchaf ynglu375?n 'm harglwydd frenin yw hwn.
25that you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field, and you shall be made to eat grass as oxen, and shall be wet with the dew of the sky, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.
25 Cei dy yrru o u373?ydd pobl, a bydd dy gartref gyda'r anifeiliaid; byddi'n bwyta gwellt fel ych, a bydd gwlith y nefoedd yn dy wlychu. Bydd saith cyfnod yn mynd heibio, nes iti wybod mai'r Goruchaf sy'n rheoli teyrnasoedd pobl ac yn eu rhoi i'r sawl a fyn.
26Whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom shall be sure to you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule.
26 Am y gorchymyn i adael boncyff y pren a'i wraidd, bydd dy frenhiniaeth yn sefydlog wedi iti ddeall mai'r nefoedd sy'n teyrnasu.
27Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.
27 Derbyn fy nghyngor, O frenin: tro oddi wrth dy bechodau trwy wneud cyfiawnder, a'th droseddau trwy wneud trugaredd 'r tlodion, iti gael dyddiau hir o heddwch."
28All this came on the king Nebuchadnezzar.
28 Digwyddodd hyn i gyd i'r Brenin Nebuchadnesar.
29At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon.
29 Ym mhen deuddeng mis, yr oedd y brenin yn cerdded ar do ei balas ym Mabilon,
30The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?
30 ac meddai, "Onid hon yw Babilon fawr, a godais trwy rym fy nerth yn gartref i'r brenin ac er clod i'm mawrhydi?"
31While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from the sky, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you:
31 Cyn i'r brenin orffen siarad, daeth llais o'r nefoedd, "Dyma neges i ti, O Frenin Nebuchadnesar: Cymerwyd y frenhiniaeth oddi arnat.
32and you shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field; you shall be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.
32 Cei dy yrru o u373?ydd pobl, a bydd dy gartref gyda'r anifeiliaid. Byddi'n bwyta gwellt fel ych, a bydd saith cyfnod yn mynd heibio, nes iti wybod mai'r Goruchaf sy'n rheoli teyrnasoedd pobl ac yn eu rhoi i'r sawl a fyn."
33The same hour was the thing fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair was grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.
33 Digwyddodd hyn ar unwaith i Nebuchadnesar. Cafodd ei yrru o u373?ydd pobl; yr oedd yn bwyta gwellt fel ych, ei gorff yn wlyb gan wlith y nefoedd, ei wallt yn hir fel plu eryr, a'i ewinedd yn hir fel crafangau aderyn.
34At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation.
34 "Ymhen amser, codais i, Neb-uchadnesar, fy llygaid i'r nefoedd, ac adferwyd fy synnwyr. Yna bendithiais y Goruchaf, a moli a mawrhau'r un sy'n byw yn dragywydd. Y mae ei arglwyddiaeth yn arglwyddiaeth dragwyddol, a'i frenhiniaeth o genhedlaeth i genhedlaeth.
35All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or ask him, What are you doing?
35 Nid yw neb o drigolion y ddaear yn cyfrif dim; y mae'n gwneud fel y mynno llu'r nefoedd ac thrigolion y ddaear. Ni fedr neb ei atal, a gofyn iddo, 'Beth wyt yn ei wneud?'
36At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought to me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me.
36 Y pryd hwnnw adferwyd fy synnwyr a dychwelodd fy mawrhydi a'm clod, er gogoniant fy mrenhiniaeth. Daeth fy nghynghorwyr a'm tywysogion ataf. Cadarnhawyd fi yn fy nheyrnas, a rhoddwyd llawer mwy o rym i mi.
37Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
37 Ac yn awr yr wyf fi, Nebuchadnesar, yn moli, yn mawrhau ac yn clodfori Brenin y Nefoedd, sydd 'i weithredoedd yn gywir a'i ffyrdd yn gyfiawn, ac yn gallu darostwng y balch."
