¹My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you;

¹ Fy mab, os derbynni fy ngeiriau, a thrysori fy ngorchmynion,

²So as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;

² a gwrando'n astud ar ddoethineb, a rhoi dy feddwl ar ddeall;

³Yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding;

³ os gelwi am ddeall, a chodi dy lais am wybodaeth,

⁴If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures:

⁴ a chwilio amdani fel am arian, a chloddio amdani fel am drysor �

⁵then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” .

⁵ yna cei ddeall ofn yr ARGLWYDD, a chael gwybodaeth o Dduw.

⁶For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

⁶ Oherwydd yr ARGLWYDD sy'n rhoi doethineb, ac o'i enau ef y daw gwybodaeth a deall.

⁷He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity;

⁷ Y mae'n trysori craffter i'r uniawn; y mae'n darian i'r rhai a rodia'n gywir.

⁸that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints.

⁸ Y mae'n diogelu llwybrau cyfiawnder, ac yn gwarchod ffordd ei ffyddloniaid.

⁹Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.

⁹ Yna byddi'n deall cyfiawnder a barn, ac uniondeb a phob ffordd dda;

¹⁰For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

¹⁰ oherwydd bydd doethineb yn dod i'th feddwl, a deall yn rhoi pleser iti.

¹¹Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you,

¹¹ Bydd pwyll yn dy amddiffyn, a deall yn dy warchod,

¹²to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things;

¹² ac yn dy gadw rhag ffordd drygioni, a rhag y rhai sy'n siarad yn dwyllodrus �

¹³who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

¹³ y rhai sy'n gadael y ffordd iawn i rodio yn llwybrau tywyllwch,

¹⁴who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil;

¹⁴ sy'n cael pleser mewn gwneud drwg a mwynhad mewn twyll,

¹⁵who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths:

¹⁵ y rhai y mae eu ffordd yn gam a'u llwybrau'n droellog.

¹⁶To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words;

¹⁶ Fe'th geidw oddi wrth y wraig ddieithr, a rhag y ddynes estron a'i geiriau dengar,

¹⁷who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God:

¹⁷ sydd wedi gadael cymar ei hieuenctid, ac wedi anghofio cyfamod ei Duw.

¹⁸for her house leads down to death, her paths to the dead.

¹⁸ Oherwydd y mae ei thu375? yn gwyro at angau, a'i llwybrau at y cysgodion.

¹⁹None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:

¹⁹ Ni ddaw neb sy'n mynd ati yn ei �l, ac ni chaiff ailafael ar lwybrau bywyd.

²⁰that you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

²⁰ Felly gofala di rodio yn ffyrdd y da, a chadw at lwybrau'r cyfiawn.

²¹For the upright will dwell in the land. The perfect will remain in it.

²¹ Oherwydd y rhai cyfiawn a drig yn y tir, a'r rhai cywir a gaiff aros ynddo;

²²But the wicked will be cut off from the land. The treacherous will be rooted out of it.

²² ond torrir y rhai drwg o'r tir, a diwreiddir y twyllwyr ohono.
