1David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.
1داود پس از مشوره با سرکردگان فرقه های هزار نفری و یکصد نفری و رهبران قوم
2David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let us send abroad everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us;
2به مردم اسرائیل گفت: «اگر شما صلاح می دانید و رضای خداوند، خدای ما باشد، پس اجازه بدهید که به سراسر کشور اسرائیل پیام بفرستم و از همه هموطنان خود، بشمول کاهنان و لاویان که در آن شهرها و دهات با آن ها زندگی می کنند، دعوت کنم که بیایند و در اینجا با ما جمع شوند.
3and let us bring again the ark of our God to us. For we didn’t seek it in the days of Saul.”
3بعد برویم و صندوق پیمان خداوند، خدای خود را دوباره پیش خود بیاوریم، زیرا از روزیکه شائول پادشاه ما شد ما به آن توجه نکرده ایم.»
4All the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
4همۀ حاضرین به اتفاق هم قبول کردند که آن کار را بکنند، زیرا نظریۀ او را پسندیدند.
5So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor the brook of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.
5پس داود همۀ مردم را از دریای شیحور مصر تا سرحد حمات جمع کرد تا صندوق پیمان خدا را از قریت یعاریم بیاورند.
6David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God Yahweh that sits above the cherubim, that is called by the Name.
6بعد داود و تمام قوم اسرائیل به بَعله (یعنی قریت یعاریم)، در سرزمین یهودا رفتند تا صندوق پیمان خدا را که بین دو مجسمۀ کروبی (فرشتۀ مقرب) قرار داشت و نام خداوند را بر خود دارد، از آنجا بیاورند.
7They carried the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
7صندوق پیمان خدا را از خانۀ اَبِیناداب بر یک عرادۀ نَو حمل کردند. عُزا و اَخِیُو رانندگان عراده بودند.
8David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
8داود همراه با تمام مردم اسرائیل با آواز و سرود چنگ، رباب، دایره، دُهل و سرنا و با قدرت تمام خدا را تجلیل کرد.
9When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
9هنگامی که به خرمنگاه کیدون رسیدند گاوها لغزیدند. عُزا دست خود را دراز کرد تا صندوق پیمان خدا را بگیرد،
10The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.
10دفعتاً آتش خشم خداوند شعله ور شد و او را کشت، زیرا به صندوق پیمان خدا دست زد، بنابران، در همانجا در حضور خداوند مُرد.
11David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken forth on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.
11داود از این کار بسیار غمگین شد. پس آنجا را فارِز ـ عُزا نامیدند که تا به امروز به همین نام یاد می شود.
12David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?”
12آنگاه داود از قهر خدا ترسید و گفت: «من نمی توانم صندوق پیمان خدا را پیش خود بیاورم.»
13So David didn’t move the ark to him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
13پس صندوق پیمان خدا را با خود به شهر داود نبرد، بلکه آنرا به خانۀ عوبید ادوم جتی نَقل داد.صندوق پیمان خدا مدت سه ماه در خانۀ عوبید ادوم ماند و خداوند همۀ خانواده و دارائی اش را برکت داد.
14The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months: and Yahweh blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.
