¹Now the children of Israel after their number, the heads of fathers’ households and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king, in any matter of the divisions which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year—of every division were twenty-four thousand.

¹سپاه اسرائیل شامل دوازده فرقه می شد که از رؤسای خاندانها و بزرگان تشکیل یافته بود. آن ها به عنوان فرماندهان نظامی و مأمورین ملکی، پادشاه را در امور مختلف کشور خدمت می کردند. هر فرقۀ سپاه که متشکل از بیست و چهار هزار نفر بود، به نوبت، سالی یک ماه به خدمت فراخوانده می شد. اینست فهرست نام فرماندهان این سپاه به ترتیب ماه خدمت شان:

²Over the first division for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

²ماه اول: یَشُبعام، پسر زَبدی ئیل فرمانده فرقۀ اول بود. او بیست و چهار هزار نفر را اداره می کرد.

³He was of the children of Perez, the chief of all the captains of the army for the first month.

³او از اولادۀ فارَص بود.

⁴Over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his division; and Mikloth the ruler: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

⁴ماه دوم: دودای اَخُوخِی فرمانده فرقۀ دوم بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تحت فرمان خود داشت و مِقلوت رئیس اداری او بود.

⁵The third captain of the army for the third month was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, chief: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

⁵ماه سوم: فرمانده فرقۀ سوم بنایا، پسر یَهویاداع کاهن بود. فرقۀ او هم متشکل از بیست و چهار هزار نفر بود.

⁶This is that Benaiah, who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty: and of his division was Ammizabad his son.

⁶بنایا همچنین رهبر سی نفر از فرماندهان سپاه داود بود و ادارۀ فرقۀ او را پسرش، عَمیزاباد بعهده داشت.

⁷The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

⁷ماه چهارم: فرمانده فرقۀ چهارم عَسائیل، برادر یوآب بود که پسانتر پسرش، زَبَدیا بجای او انتخاب شد. او ادارۀ یک فرقۀ بیست و چهار هزار نفری را بدوش داشت.

⁸The fifth captain for this fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

⁸ماه پنجم: فرمانده فرقۀ پنجم شَمهوتِ یِزرحیای بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تخت فرمان خود داشت.

⁹The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

⁹ماه ششم: فرمانده فرقۀ ششم عیرا، پسر عِقیِش تَقوعی بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تحت فرمان خود داشت.

¹⁰The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

¹⁰ماه هفتم: فرمانده فرقۀ هفتم حالَز فِلونی، از قبیلۀ افرایم بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تحت فرمان خود داشت.

¹¹The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

¹¹ماه هشتم: فرمانده فرقۀ هشتم سِبکای حوشاتی، از خانوادۀ زِرَحیان بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تحت فرمان خود داشت.

¹²The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

¹²ماه نهم: فرمانده فرقۀ نهم ابی عَزَرِ عَناتوتی، از قبیلۀ بنیامین بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تحت فرمان خود داشت.

¹³The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: and in his division were Twenty-four thousand.

¹³ماه دهم: فرمانده فرقۀ دهم مَهرای نِطوفاتی از خانوادۀ زِرَحیان بود و بیست و چهار هزار نفر را تحت فرمان خود داشت.

¹⁴The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

¹⁴ماه یازدهم: فرمانده فرقۀ یازدهم بنایای فِرعاتونی، از قبیلۀ افرایم بود و یک دستۀ بیست و چهار هزار نفری را اداره می کرد.

¹⁵The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

¹⁵ماه دوازدهم: فرمانده فرقۀ دوازدهم خَلدای نِطوفاتی، از خانوادۀ عُتنِئیل بود و یک فرقۀ بیست و چهار هزار نفری را تحت اثر خود داشت.

¹⁶Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah:

¹⁶رؤسای قبایل اسرائیل اینها بودند: رئیس قبیلۀ رؤبین، اَلِعازار، پسر زِکری بود. رئیس قبیلۀ شَمعون، شِفَطیا، پسر مَعکه بود.

¹⁷of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of Aaron, Zadok:

¹⁷رئیس قبیلۀ لاوی، عَشَبیا، پسر قموئیل بود. رئیس خانوادۀ هارون، صادوق بود.

¹⁸of Judah, Elihu, one of the brothers of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:

¹⁸رئیس قبیلۀ یهودا، الیهو بود. رئیس قبیلۀ ایسَسکار، عُمری، پسر میکائیل بود.

¹⁹of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel:

¹⁹رئیس قبیلۀ زبولون، یِشمَعیا، پسر عوبَدیا بود. رئیس قبیلۀ نَفتالی، یَریموت، پسر عَزری ئیل بود.

²⁰of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah:

²⁰رئیس قبیلۀ افرایم، هوشع، پسر عَزَریا بود. رئیس نیم قبیلۀ مَنَسّی، یوئیل، پسر فَدایا بود.

²¹of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner:

²¹رئیس نیم قبیلۀ دیگر مَنَسّی، در جِلعاد، یدُو پسر زکریا بود. رئیس قبیلۀ بنیامین، یَعسی ئیل، پسر آبنیر بود.

²²of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

²²رئیس قبیلۀ دان، عَزرئیل، پسر یِروحَم بود. اشخاص نامبرده رؤسای قبایل اسرائیل بودند.

²³But David didn’t take the number of them from twenty years old and under, because Yahweh had said he would increase Israel like the stars of the sky.

²³داود هنگام سرشماری، جوانان بیست ساله و پائینتر از آنرا به حساب نیاورد، زیرا خداوند وعده فرموده بود که نفوس اسرائیل را مثل ستارگان آسمان بیشمار می سازد.

²⁴Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but didn’t finish; and there came wrath for this on Israel; neither was the number put into the account in the chronicles of king David.

²⁴یوآب، پسر زِرویه سرشماری را شروع کرد، اما آنرا ناتمام گذاشت. چون بخاطر همین سرشماری غضب خداوند بر سر اسرائیل آمد، بنابران، تعداد نهایی نفوس کشور، در کتاب تاریخ داود پادشاه ثبت نشد.

²⁵Over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the treasures in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah:

²⁵عَزموت، پسر عَدیئیل رئیس خزانه و تحویلخانه های شاهی بود و یُوناتان پسر عُزیا ادارۀ امور تحویلخانه های مزارع زراعتی شهرها، دهات و قلعه ها را بدوش داشت.

²⁶Over those who did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:

²⁶عَزرِی، پسر کَلُوب کارهای عمله ای را که در مزارع وظیفه داشتند، نظارت می کرد.

²⁷and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: and over the increase of the vineyards for the winecellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite:

²⁷ناظر باغهای انگور شِمعی راماتی و ناظر محصول تاکستانها و گدامهای شراب، زَبدی شِفماتی بود.

²⁸and over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the lowland was Baal Hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:

²⁸بعل حانان جِدیری مسئول باغهای زیتون و درختانِ دامنه های کوه بود و کار نظارت ذخیره روغن زیتون را یوآش به عهده داشت.

²⁹and over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:

²⁹از رمه هائی که در چراگاههای شارون بودند، شِطرای شارونی پاسداری می کرد و ناظر رمه های وادیها شافاط، پسر عَدلائی بود.

³⁰and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite: and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.

³⁰عوبیلِ اسمعیلی بر کار نگهداری شترها و یَحَدیای میرونوتی بر کار نگهداری الاغ ها نظارت می کردند.

³¹All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.

³¹یازیز هاجری مسئول نگهداری گله ها بود. همۀ اینها ناظران دارائی داود پادشاه بودند.

³²Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons:

³²کاکای داود، یُوناتان که یک شخص دانا و فاضل بود، بحیث مشاور اجرای وظیفه می کرد. او و یحیئیل، پسر حَکمونی معلمین شاهزادگان بودند.

³³Ahithophel was the king’s counselor: and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend:

³³اخیتوفل ندیم پادشاه بود و حوشای ارکی دوست پادشاه بود.بعد از مرگ اخیتوفل یَهویاداع، پسر بنایا و ابیاتار ندیم پادشاه شدند. یوآب قوماندان عمومی سپاه شاه بود.

³⁴and after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the captain of the king’s army was Joab.

³⁴بعد از مرگ اخیتوفل یَهویاداع، پسر بنایا و ابیاتار ندیم پادشاه شدند. یوآب قوماندان عمومی سپاه شاه بود.
