¹The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

¹پسران یهودا: فارَص، حِزرون، کَرمی، حور و شوبال.

²Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.

²رایه، پسر شوبال پدر یَحَت و یَحَت پدر اَخُومای و لاهَد بود و اینها به خانواده های صَرعاتیان تعلق داشتند.

³These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi;

³پسران عِیطام: یِزرعیل، یَشما، یَدباش و دخترش هَسللفونی بود.

⁴and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

⁴فَنوئیل پدر جَدور و عازَر پدر خَوشه بود. اینها اولادۀ حور، پسر اول افراته، پدر بیت لحم بودند.

⁵Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

⁵اَشحُور، پدر تَقوع دو زن داشت بنامهای حَلا و نَعره.

⁶Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

⁶نَعره مادر اخُزام، حافر، تَیمانی و اَخَشَطاری بود.

⁷The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.

⁷صَرَت، صوحر، اَتنان،

⁸Hakkoz became the father of Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

⁸و قوس پسران حَلا بودند. قوس پدر عانوب و صوبیبه و جد قبیلۀ اَخَرحیل، پسر هارُم بود.

⁹Jabez was more honorable than his brothers: and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.”

⁹یَعبِیز محترم تر از دیگر برادران خود بود. مادرش او را یَعبِیز (یعنی درد) نامید و گفت: «من او را با درد و غم بدنیا آوردم.»

¹⁰Jabez called on the God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” God granted him that which he requested.

¹⁰اما یَعبِیز بحضور خدای اسرائیل دعا نموده گفت: «ای خداوند، مرا برکت بده و ساحۀ ملک مرا وسیع گردان. دست تو همراه من باشد و مرا بلا دور نگه دار تا رنج نکشم.» و خدا هم هرآنچه را که او خواست برایش عطا فرمود.

¹¹Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

¹¹کَلُوب، برادر شوحه، پدر مَحیر و مَحیر پدر اَشتُون بود.

¹²Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah.

¹²اَشتُون پدر بیت رافا، فاسیح و تَحِنَه، و تَحِنَه پدر عیرناحاش بود. اینها از اهالی ریقه بودند.

¹⁴Meonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim; for they were craftsmen.

¹⁴مَعونوتای پدر عُفره، سَرایا پدر یُوآب و یُوآب وادی صنعتگران را بنا کرد و همه هنرمندان ماهر در آنجا سکونت داشتند.

¹⁵The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah; and Kenaz.

¹⁵کالیب، پسر یَفُنه دارای سه پسر بنامهای عیر، اِیله و ناعم بود و اِیله پدر قناز بود.

¹⁶The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

¹⁶زیف، زیفه، تیریا و اَسرِی ئیل پسران یَهلَل ئیل بودند.

¹⁷The sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

¹⁷یتر، مِرد، عافر و یالون پسران عِزره بودند. مِرد با دختر فرعون به نام بِتیه ازدواج کرد و صاحب یک دختر بنام مریم و دو پسر به نامهای شَمای و یِشبَع (پدر اَشتَموع) شد.

¹⁸His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. These are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.

¹⁸مِرد از زن یهودی خود هم سه پسر داشت بنامهای یارِد، پدر جَدور، جابَر، پدر سوکوه و یَقوتیئیل، پدر زانوح.

¹⁹The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

¹⁹زن هودیه خواهر نَحَم بود. یکی از پسران او پدر قَعِیلۀ جَرمی و دیگری پدر اَشتَموع مَعکاتی بود.

²⁰The sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben Zoheth.

²⁰اَمنُون، رِنَه، بِنحانان و تیلون پسران شیمون بودند. زوحیت و بِنزُوحیت پسران یِشعی بودند.

²¹The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

²¹پسران شیله (پسر یهودا): عیر پدر لِیکَه، لَعدَه پدر مریشه و جد قبایل بافندگان کتان بود که در بیت اَشُبِیع زندگی می کردند.

²²and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. The records are ancient.

²²یُوقیم و باشندگان شهر کُوزیبا، یوآش و ساراف، حکمران موآب که بعد به یشوبی لِحِم برگشت. (تمام اینها از گزارشهای قدیم بجا مانده اند.)

²³These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: there they lived with the king for his work.

²³تمام این مردم کوزه گرانی بودند که در نتاعیم و جِدیره سکونت داشتند و برای پادشاه کار می کردند.

²⁴The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;

²⁴نموئیل، یامین، یاریب، زِرَح و شائول پسران شمعون بودند.

²⁵Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

²⁵شلوم، پسر شائول، مِبسام نواسه و مِشماع کواسه اش بود.

²⁶The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

²⁶اولادۀ مِشماع: حَمویل پسر، زَکور نواسه و شِمعی کواسه اش بود.

²⁷Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn’t have many children, neither did all their family multiply like the children of Judah.

²⁷شمعی شانزده پسر و شش دختر داشت، اما برادرانش فرزندان زیاد نداشتند. بنابران، نفوس قبیلۀ شان کمتر از نفوس قبیلۀ یهودا بود.

²⁸They lived at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,

²⁸آن ها در شهرهای بئرشِبع، مولاده، حَزر شوعل،

²⁹and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,

²⁹بِلهَه، عاصَم، تولاد،

³⁰and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,

³⁰بِتوئیل، حُرمه، صِقلَغ،

³¹and at Beth Marcaboth, and Hazar Susim, and at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities to the reign of David.

³¹بیت مَرکَبوت، حَزرسوسیم، بیت بِرئِی و شَعرایم سکونت داشتند. این شهرها تا دوران سلطنت داود در اختیار شان بودند.

³²Their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;

³²پنج قریۀ اطراف شان عِیطام، عین، رِمون، توکَن و عاشان بودند.

³³and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy.

³³بعضی از این دهات تا بَعل دور بودند. همه گزارشات احوال خانواده ها و جاهای سکونت شان در نسب نامه های شان ثبت شده است.

³⁴Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,

³⁴مَشوباب، یَملیک، یُوشه (پسر اَمَصیا)،

³⁵and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

³⁵یوئیل، ییهُو (پسر یوشِبیا، نواسۀ سَرایا، کواسۀ عَسِی ئیل)،

³⁶and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,

³⁶اَلیُوعِینای، یَعکوُبه، یَشوحایا، عَسایا، عَدیئیل، یَسیمی ئیل، بنایا،

³⁷and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah—

³⁷و زیزا (پسر شِفعی، پسر اِلوُن، پسر یَدایا، پسر شِمری، پسر شِمَعیه).

³⁸these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers’ houses increased greatly.

³⁸اشخاص نامبرده رؤسای قبایل بودند. چون تعداد خانواده های شان زیاد شدند،

³⁹They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

³⁹بنابران، برای یافتن چراگاه جهت رمه و گلۀ خود تا حدود جَدور و شرق وادی پیش رفتند.

⁴⁰They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for those who lived there before were of Ham.

⁴⁰در نتیجه، چراگاه های خوب و سرسبز یافتند و آنجا یک سرزمین وسیع و جای ایمن و آرام برای سکونت شان هم بود. پیش از آن، مردم حام در آنجا زندگی می کردند.

⁴¹These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks.

⁴¹اشخاص مذکور در زمان سلطنت حزقیا، پادشاه یهودا به آنجا آمدند. ساکنین آنجا را که معونی ها بودند، با خیمه ها و خانه های شان از بین بردند که تا امروز اثری از آن ها باقی نیست، و خود شان در آنجا ساکن شدند، زیرا آنجا چراگاه خوبی برای رمۀ شان داشت.

⁴²Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

⁴²پسانتر پنجصد نفر از قبیلۀ شَمعون به کوه سعیر رفتند. رهبران شان پسران یشیع، یعنی فِلتیا، نعرِیا، رِفایا عَریئیل بودند.آن ها باقیماندۀ عمالَقه را که فرار کرده بودند، از بین بردند و خود شان تا به امروز در آنجا زندگی می کنند.
