¹Behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of Yahweh to Beth El: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

¹در همان وقتیکه یَرُبعام روبروی قربانگاه ایستاده بود و خوشبوئی دود می کرد، یک مرد خدا با پیامی از جانب خداوند از یهودا به بیت ئیل آمد.

²He cried against the altar by the word of Yahweh, and said, “Altar, altar, thus says Yahweh: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. On you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”

²بعد به فرمان خداوند خطاب به قربانگاه کرده گفت: ای قربانگاه! ای قربانگاه! خداوند چنین می فرماید: «طفلی بنام یوشیا در خانوادۀ داود می آید. او کاهنان معابدی را که بر تپه ها بنا شده اند و بالای تو خوشبوئی می سوزانند، بر تو قربانی می کند و استخوانهای مردم را بالای تو می سوزاند.»

³He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which Yahweh has spoken: Behold, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”

³بعد او با این علامت ثابت کرد که پیام او واقعاً از جانب خدا است و گفت: «این قربانگاه دو شق می شود و خاکستریکه بر آن است بر زمین پاشان می گردد.»

⁴It happened, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, that Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.

⁴وقتی پادشاه سخن آن مرد را شنید با دست خود بطرف او اشاره کرده و فریاد زد: «این شخص را دستگیر کنید.» و دفعتاً دستش در هوا خشک شد و در همان حال ماند و نتوانست دست خود را جمع کند.

⁵The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of Yahweh.

⁵و قربانگاه هم قراریکه آن مرد خدا، بفرمان خداوند پیشگوئی کرده بود دو شق شد و خاکستر از بالای آن بر زمین ریخت.

⁶The king answered the man of God, “Now entreat the favor of Yahweh your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again.” The man of God entreated Yahweh, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

⁶آنگاه پادشاه به آن مرد خدا گفت: «تمنا می کنم که پیش خداوند دعا کنی تا دستم بحال سابق خود برگردد.» پس مرد خدا پیش خداوند دعا کرد و دست شاه دوباره سالم شد.

⁷The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me, and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”

⁷پادشاه به او گفت: «بیا به خانه ام برو و چیزی بخور و من بخاطر کاری که کردی بتو یک انعام هم می دهم.»

⁸The man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;

⁸اما مرد خدا به شاه گفت: «اگر نیم سلطنتت را هم بدهی با تو نمی روم و نه آب و نان اینجا را می خورم،

⁹for so was it commanded me by the word of Yahweh, saying, ‘You shall eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that you came.’”

⁹زیرا قرار امر خداوند که فرمود: تو نباید آب و نان بخوری و یا از راهی که آمده ای بازگردی.»

¹⁰So he went another way, and didn’t return by the way that he came to Bethel.

¹⁰بنابران او جادۀ دیگری را پیش گرفت و از آن راهی که به بیت ئیل آمده بود نرفت.

¹¹Now there lived an old prophet in Bethel; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.

¹¹در بیت ئیل یک نبی سالخورده زندگی می کرد. پسرانش آمدند و همۀ آنچه را آن مرد خدا در آنروز در بیت ئیل کرد و همچنین حرفهائی که به شاه زد برای پدر خود قصه کردند.

¹²Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.

¹²پدر شان پرسید: «از کدام راه رفت؟» پسرانش راهی را که آن مرد خدا از یهودا آمد و برگشت به او نشان داد.

¹³He said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.

¹³بعد به پسران خود گفت: «خری را برای من آماده کنید.» پسرانش یک خر را آماده کردند و او بر آن سوار شد

¹⁴He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He said, “I am.”

¹⁴و بدنبال آن مرد خدا رفت و او را در حالی یافت که در زیر یک درخت بلوط نشسته بود. به او گفت: «آیا تو همان نبی نیستی که از یهودا آمد؟» او جواب داد: «بلی، خودم هستم.»

¹⁵Then he said to him, “Come home with me, and eat bread.”

¹⁵پیر مرد گفت: «بیا همراه من بخانه ام برو و یک چیزی بخور.»

¹⁶He said, “I may not return with you, nor go in with you; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place.

¹⁶اما او گفت: «من با تو برگشته نمی توانم و نه با تو در اینجا آب و نان خورده می توانم،

¹⁷For it was said to me by the word of Yahweh, ‘You shall eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that you came.’”

¹⁷زیرا خداوند به من امر کرد و فرمود: تو نباید در آنجا آب و نان بخوری و یا از راهی که آمده ای بازگردی.»

¹⁸He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the word of Yahweh, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.

¹⁸پیرمرد گفت: «من هم مثل تو یک نبی هستم. فرشته ای بفرمان خداوند به من گفت: او را بخانه ات برگردان تا چیزی بخورد و بنوشد.» اما پیرمرد دروغ گفت.

¹⁹So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.

¹⁹نبی همراه او رفت و در خانۀ او خورد و نوشید.

²⁰It happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of Yahweh came to the prophet who brought him back;

²⁰در حالیکه آن ها بر سر سفره نشسته بودند، پیامی از جانب خداوند به آن پیرمرد آمد

²¹and he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have been disobedient to the mouth of Yahweh, and have not kept the commandment which Yahweh your God commanded you,

²¹و او به آن مرد خدا که از یهودا آمده بود با آواز بلند گفت: «خداوند می فرماید که تو از فرمان او اطاعت نکردی، احکام او را بجا نیاوردی

²²but came back, and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water”; your body shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”

²²و برگشتی و در جائی که منع کرده بود، آب و نان خوردی، بنابران جنازۀ تو در قبرستان پدرانت دفن نخواهد شد.»

²³It happened, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.

²³وقتی آن ها از خوردن فارغ شدند، نبی سالخورده، خری برای نبی یهودا آماده کرد.

²⁴When he had gone, a lion met him by the way, and killed him. His body was cast in the way, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.

²⁴بعد وقتی او براه افتاد و رفت، یک شیر در سر راهش پیدا شد و او را کشت. جسد او بر سر سرک افتاده و خر و شیر در پهلوی آن ایستاده بودند.

²⁵Behold, men passed by, and saw the body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.

²⁵مردمی که از آنجا می گذشتند، وقتی جسد را دیدند که بروی سرک افتاده و شیری در کنار آن ایستاده بود به شهر، در جائیکه آن پیرمرد زندگی می کرد رفتند.

²⁶When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to the mouth of Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to him.”

²⁶چون پیرمرد از واقعه خبر شد گفت: «او همان نبی است که فرمان خداوند را بجا نیاورد، بنابران خداوند او را بچنگ شیر داد تا او دریده و کشته شود. به این ترتیب آنچه که خداوند فرموده بود عملی شد.»

²⁷He spoke to his sons, saying, “Saddle the donkey for me.” They saddled it.

²⁷بعد به پسران خود گفت: «خری را برایم آماده کنید.» آن ها خر را برایش آوردند.

²⁸He went and found his body cast in the way, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body, nor mauled the donkey.

²⁸او رفت و جسد را بروی سرک یافت که خر و شیر در کنار آن ایستاده بودند. شیر جسد را نخورده و به خر حمله نکرده بود.

²⁹The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to the city of the old prophet to mourn, and to bury him.

²⁹پیرمرد جسد نبی را بر خر بار کرد و آن را دوباره به شهر آورد تا بعد از مراسم سوگواری دفنش کند.

³⁰He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”

³⁰بعد او را در قبر خود بخاک سپرد. آنگاه برایش نوحه کردند و گفتند: «آه ای برادرم! آه ای برادرم!»

³¹It happened, after he had buried him, that he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, then bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.

³¹پس از آنکه او را دفن کرد به پسران خود گفت: «وقتیکه مُردم مرا در همین قبر با این مرد خدا دفن کنید و استخوانهایم را پهلوی استخوان های او قرار دهید،

³²For the saying which he cried by the word of Yahweh against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”

³²زیرا حرفهائی را که بفرمان خداوند بر ضد معابد تپه ها در شهرهای سامره زد واقعاً بحقیقت رسید.»

³³After this thing Jeroboam didn’t return from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.

³³باوجود این رویدادها بازهم یَرُبعام از کارهای زشت خود دست نکشید، بلکه برعکس کاهنانی را از هر گونه مردم برای معابد تپه ها گماشت و هر کسیکه می خواست کاهن شود او را انتخاب می کرد.این کار او گناه بزرگی بود که باعث سقوط سلطنت و مرگ تمام خانوادۀ او شد.

³⁴This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.
