1Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.
1یک روز یُوناتان به اسلحه بردار خود گفت: «بیا که از راه دره به استحکامات نظامی فلسطینی ها برویم.» او بی خبر به آنجا رفت و به پدر خود اطلاعی نداد.
2Saul stayed in the uttermost part of Gibeah under the pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people who were with him were about six hundred men;
2شائول با ششصد نفر از همراهان خود در نزدیکی جِبعَه زیر یک درخت انار خیمه زده بود.
3and Ahijah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the priest of Yahweh in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. The people didn’t know that Jonathan was gone.
3در بین مردان او اخیای کاهن، پسر اَخِیطُوب حضور داشت و اَخِیطُوب برادر اِیخابود بود و اِیخابود پسر فینِحاس و نواسۀ عیلی، کاهن خداوند در شیلوه بود. او لباس کاهنی در بر داشت. مردم نمی دانستند که یُوناتان آنجا را ترک کرده است.
4Between the passes, by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines’ garrison, there was a rocky crag on the one side, and a rocky crag on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
4یُوناتان برای اینکه به استحکامات نظامی فلسطینی ها برسد، می بایست از گذرگاه باریکی که بین دو صخرۀ تیز بنامهای بوزیز و سِنِه بود، بگذرد.
5The one crag rose up on the north in front of Michmash, and the other on the south in front of Geba.
5یکی از آن دو صخره بطرف شمال، مقابل مِخماس و دیگری بطرف جنوب، مقابل جِبعَه قرار داشت.
6Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, and let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that Yahweh will work for us; for there is no restraint on Yahweh to save by many or by few.”
6یُوناتان به جوان اسلحه بردار گفت: «بیا که به کمپ فلسطینی ها بیگانه برویم. امید است که خداوند به ما کمکی بکند، زیرا تعداد دشمن چه کم باشد چه زیاد، در برابر قدرت خداوند ناچیز است.»
7His armor bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Turn and, behold, I am with you according to your heart.”
7جوان همراهش گفت: «بسیار خوب، من با نظریۀ تو موافقم.»
8Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will reveal ourselves to them.
8یُوناتان گفت: «پس بیا که به آنجا برویم. ما خود را به آن ها نشان می دهیم.
9If they say thus to us, ‘Wait until we come to you!’ then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up to them.
9اگر گفتند: حرکت نکنید تا ما پیش شما بیائیم، ما در جای خود توقف می کنیم و پیش آن ها نمی رویم.
10But if they say this, ‘Come up to us!’ then we will go up; for Yahweh has delivered them into our hand. This shall be the sign to us.”
10اما هرگاه گفتند که پیش شان برویم، در آن صورت می رویم، زیرا این نشانۀ آن است که خداوند آن ها را به دست ما تسلیم می کند.»
11Both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, “Behold, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they had hidden themselves!”
11پس آن ها خود را به سپاهیان فلسطینی ها نشان دادند و فلسطینی ها گفتند: «عبرانیان را ببینید که از غارهائی که در آن ها پنهان شده بودند، بیرون آمده اند.»
12The men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armor bearer, and said, “Come up to us, and we will show you something!” Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come up after me; for Yahweh has delivered them into the hand of Israel.”
12آن ها یُوناتان و همراهش را صدا کرده گفتند: «به اینجا بیائید تا چیزی را به شما نشان بدهیم.» یُوناتان به سلاحبردار خود گفت: «پشت سرم بیا که خداوند آن ها را به دست ما تسلیم می کند.»
13Jonathan climbed up on his hands and on his feet, and his armor bearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armor bearer killed them after him.
13یُوناتان بحالت سینه کش درحالیکه همراهش پشت سرش پیش آن ها بالا می رفت و به فلسطینی ها حمله کرد. فلسطینی ها به پشت می افتادند و یُوناتان و همراهش از چپ و راست آن ها را می کشتند.
14That first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armor bearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were half a furrow’s length in an acre of land.
14در همان حملۀ اول، یُوناتان و همراهش در حدود بیست نفر آن ها را در ساحۀ یک جریب زمین هلاک کردند.
15There was a trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled; and the earth quaked: so there was an exceeding great trembling.
15تمام مردم چه در اردوگاه و چه در بیرون و حتی مهاجمین از ترس به لرزه افتادند. در آن هنگام زلزلۀ شدیدی رُخداد و آن ها را زیادتر به وحشت انداخت.
16The watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and behold, the multitude melted away, and scattered.
16پهره داران شائول در جبعۀ بنیامین دیدند که سپاه عظیم فلسطینی ها سراسیمه به هر طرف می دوند.
17Then Saul said to the people who were with him, “Count now, and see who is missing from us.” When they had counted, behold, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there.
17آنگاه شائول به همراهان خود گفت: «معلوم کنید که چه کسانی غایب هستند.» وقتی تجسس کردند، دانستند که یُوناتان و سلاح بردارش حاضر نبودند.
18Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring the ark of God here.” For the ark of God was with the children of Israel at that time.
18پس شائول به اخیا گفت که صندوق پیمان خداوند را پیش او بیاورد. (چونکه صندوق پیمان خداوند در آن وقت پیش قوم اسرائیل بود.)
19It happened, while Saul talked to the priest, that the tumult that was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said to the priest, “Withdraw your hand!”
19موقعیکه شائول با کاهن حرف می زد، شورش در اردوی فلسطینی ها شدیدتر شد و شائول به کاهن گفت: «صبر کن!»
20Saul and all the people who were with him were gathered together, and came to the battle: and behold, every man’s sword was against his fellow: a very great confusion.
20بعد شائول و همراهانش یکجا برای جنگ رفتند و دیدند که فلسطینی ها یکدیگر خود را می کشند. همگی سخت دستپاچه شده بودند.
21Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistines as before, and who went up with them into the camp, from all around, even they also turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.
21آن عده از عبرانیانی که قبلاً در اردوی فلسطینی ها جلب شده بودند، به طرفداری از مردم اسرائیل که با شائول و یُوناتان بودند، برعلیه فلسطینی ها داخل جنگ شدند.
22Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
22همچنین همه اسرائیلی های که در کوهستان افرایم خود را پنهان کرده بودند، وقتی خبر فرار فلسطینی ها را شنیدند به جنگ دشمن رفتند.
23So Yahweh saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over by Beth Aven.
23خداوند در آن روز قوم اسرائیل را پیروز ساخت و جنگ از سرحدات بیت آوَن هم گذشت.
24The men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul had adjured the people, saying, “Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies.” So none of the people tasted food.
24شائول در آن روز کار عاجلانه ای کرد، زیرا اعلام نمود و گفت: «تا انتقام خود را از دشمنان نگیرم تا شام نباید کس دست به غذا بزند و اگر کسی این کار را بکند، لعنت بر او باد!» بنابران، هیچ کسی نان را به لب نزد.
25All the people came into the forest; and there was honey on the ground.
25مردم به جنگلی رسیدند و دیدند که عسل بروی زمین جاری است
26When the people had come to the forest, behold, the honey dropped: but no man put his hand to his mouth; for the people feared the oath.
26و در همه جای جنگل عسل بفراوانی پیدا می شد، ولی از ترس سوگندی که شائول خورده بود، کسی به آن دست نزد.
27But Jonathan didn’t hear when his father commanded the people with the oath: therefore he put forth the end of the rod who was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.
27اما یُوناتان چون از فرمان پدر خود بی اطلاع بود، نوک عصائی را که در دست داشت، داخل کندوی عسل کرده آن را بدهان برد و حالش بهتر شد.
28Then one of the people answered, and said, “Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed is the man who eats food this day.’” The people were faint.
28یکی از حاضرین به او گفت: «ما همگی از گرسنگی بی حال هستیم، اما پدرت اخطار داده و گفته است: لعنت بر آن کسی که در آن روز چیزی بخورد.»
29Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
29یُوناتان جواب داد: «پدرم ناحق مردم را زحمت می دهد. می بینی که فقط با چشیدن اندکی عسل چقدر حالم بجا آمد.
30How much more, if perhaps the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies which they found? For now has there been no great slaughter among the Philistines.”
30اگر به مردم اجازه می داد تا از غذائی که از دشمنان به دست آوردند، بخورند، بهتر می بود و می توانستند تعداد زیادتری از فلسطینی ها را بکشند.»
31They struck of the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon. The people were very faint;
31باوجود ضعف و گرسنگی، مردم اسرائیل فلسطینی ها را از مِخماس تا اَیَلون تعقیب کرده کشته می رفتند و در نتیجه، زیادتر بیحال شدند.
32and the people flew on the spoil, and took sheep, and cattle, and calves, and killed them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.
32هنگام شب حمله و غارت بر گوسفند، گاو و گوساله کرده و در همان نقطه می کشتند و گوشت آن ها را خام و خون آلود می خوردند.
33Then they told Saul, saying, “Behold, the people are sinning against Yahweh, in that they eat meat with the blood.” He said, “You have dealt treacherously. Roll a large stone to me this day!”
33کسی به شائول از واقعه خبر داده گفت: «مردم با خوردن خون در مقابل خداوند گناه می کنند.» شائول گفت شما خیانت کرده اید. حالا یک سنگ بزرگ را پیش من بغلطانید
34Saul said, “Disperse yourselves among the people, and tell them, ‘Bring me here every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and kill them here, and eat; and don’t sin against Yahweh in eating meat with the blood.’” All the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and killed them there.
34و بعد بروید و به مردم بگوئید: «همۀ گاو و گوسفند را به اینجا بیاورند و بکشند و بخورند. و با خوردن خون، پیش خداوند گناه نکنند.» پس هر کس در آن شب گاو خود را آورده در آنجا کشت.
35Saul built an altar to Yahweh. This was the first altar that he built to Yahweh.
35بعد شائول برای خداوند قربانگاهی ساخت و آن اولین قربانگاهی بود که برای خداوند بنا کرد.
36Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them.” They said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said, “Let us draw near here to God.”
36سپس شائول گفت: «بیائید که بر فلسطینی ها شبخون بزنیم و تا صبح هیچ کدام آن ها را زنده نگذاریم.» مردم گفتند: «هرچه صلاح می دانی بکن.» اما کاهن گفت: «اول باید با خداوند مشوره کنیم.»
37Saul asked counsel of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But he didn’t answer him that day.
37شائول بحضور خداوند دعا کرده سوال کرد: «آیا به تعقیب فلسطینی ها برویم؟ آیا به ما کمک می کنی که آن ها را مغلوب سازیم؟» اما خداوند در آن شب به او جوابی نداد.
38Saul said, “Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been this day.
38بعد شائول به ریش سفیدان قوم گفت: «باید معلوم کنیم که چه کسی از ما دست به گناه زده است.
39For, as Yahweh lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.
39بنام خداوند که آزادی بخش اسرائیل است، قسم می خورم که گناهکار را می کشم، حتی اگر پسرم یُوناتان هم باشد.» اما کسی چیزی نگفت.
40Then he said to all Israel, “You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” The people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.”
40آنگاه شائول به قوم اسرائیل گفت: «همۀ شما به آن طرف بایستید و یُوناتان و من به این طرف می ایستیم.» مردم همه اطاعت کردند.
41Therefore Saul said to Yahweh, the God of Israel, “Show the right.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen; but the people escaped.
41شائول با دعا به خداوند گفت: «خداوندا، ای خدای اسرائیل، چرا به سوال این بنده ات جوابی ندادی؟ آیا من و یُوناتان گناهی کرده ایم یا گناه بگردن دیگران است؟ خداوندا، گناهکار را به ما نشان بده.» پسانتر وقتی قرعه انداختند، قرعه به نام شائول و یُوناتان ظاهر شد.
42Saul said, “Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” Jonathan was selected.
42قرار امر شائول، بین خود او و یُوناتان قرعه انداختند. این بار قرعه بنام یُوناتان اصابت کرد.
43Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done!” Jonathan told him, and said, “I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in my hand; and behold, I must die.”
43آنگاه شائول به یُوناتان گفت: «راست بگو که چه کرده ای؟» یُوناتان جواب داد: «کمی عسل را با نوک عصای دست خود گرفته خوردم. اگر این کار من گناه من است، برای مردن حاضرم.»
44Saul said, “God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”
44شائول گفت: «بلی، تو حتماً باید کشته شوی ـ خدا مرا بکشد اگر ترا نکشم.»
45The people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As Yahweh lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day!” So the people rescued Jonathan, that he didn’t die.
45ولی مردم به شائول گفتند: «امروز یُوناتان قوم اسرائیل را نجات داد. غیر ممکن است که او کشته شود. بنام خداوند قسم است که نمی گذاریم حتی یک تار موی او هم کم شود، زیرا امروز بوسیلۀ او بود که خداوند معجزۀ بزرگی نشان داد.» به این ترتیب مردم شفاعت کرده یُوناتان را از مرگ نجات دادند.
46Then Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.
46بعد شائول امر به بازگشت سپاه خود کرد و فلسطینی ها هم به وطن خود برگشتند.
47Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and wherever he turned himself, he defeated them.
47وقتی شائول پادشاه اسرائیل شد، با همه دشمنان، از قبیل موآبیان، بنی عَمون، ادومیان، پادشاهان صوبه و فلسطینی ها جنگید و در همه جنگها پیروز شد.
48He did valiantly, and struck the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who despoiled them.
48او با شجاعت تمام عمالیقیان را شکست داد و قوم اسرائیل را از دست تاراجگران شان نجات داد.
49Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishvi, and Malchishua; and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:
49شائول سه پسر داشت بنامهای یُوناتان، یشوی و مَلکیشوع. او همچنین دارای دو دختر بود. دختر بزرگش میراب و دختر کوچکش میکال نام داشت.
50and the name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the captain of his army was Abner the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.
50زن شائول دختر اخیمَعاص و اسمش اَخِینُوعَم بود، ابنير پسر نير کاکای شائول بود.
51Kish was the father of Saul; and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
51قَیس پدر شائول و نیر پدر اَبنیر و پسر اَبیئیل بود.در تمام دوران سلطنت شائول، اسرائیل و فلسطینی ها همیشه در جنگ بودند و شائول هر شخص نیرومند و شجاعی را که می یافت شامل سپاه خود می کرد.
52There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any mighty man, or any valiant man, he took him to him.
52در تمام دوران سلطنت شائول، اسرائیل و فلسطینی ها همیشه در جنگ بودند و شائول هر شخص نیرومند و شجاعی را که می یافت شامل سپاه خود می کرد.
