1The Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, “Doesn’t David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert?”
1در اینوقت مردم زیف پیش شائول به جِبعَه آمده گفتند: «داود به بیابان برگشته و در تپۀ حَخیله خود را پنهان کرده است.»
2Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
2پس شائول با سه هزار عسکر خاص به تعقیب داود به زیف رفت.
3Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert, by the way. But David stayed in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
3شائول در تپۀ حَخیله که در سر راه و در شرق بیابان بود، اردو زد.
4David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul had certainly come.
4داود جاسوسانی را فرستاد تا از آمدن شائول به او خبر بدهند.
5David arose, and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David saw the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his army: and Saul lay within the place of the wagons, and the people were encamped around him.
5بعد داود به اردوگاه شائول رفت و جائی را که شائول با اَبنیر پسر نیر، قوماندان سپاه، خوابیده بود پیدا کرد و دید که شائول در درون خیمه در حالیکه محافظین بدور او حلقه زده بودند، خوابیده بود.
6Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, “Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp?” Abishai said, “I will go down with you.”
6بعد داود آمد و به اَخِیمَلَک حِتی و ابیشای پسر زِرویه، برادر یوآب گفت: «آیا کسی است که با من به اردوگاه شائول برود؟» ابیشای جواب داد: «من همراهت می روم.»
7So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the place of the wagons, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the people lay around him.
7پس داود و ابیشای هنگام شب به اردوگاه شائول رفتند و دیدند که شائول در خواب بود، نیزه اش در زمین فرورفته و در بالای سرش قرار داشت. اَبنیر و محافظین بدور او خوابیده بودند.
8Then Abishai said to David, “God has delivered up your enemy into your hand this day. Now therefore please let me strike him with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not strike him the second time.”
8ابیشای به داود گفت: «خداوند امروز دشمنت را به دستت داد. حالا اجازه بده که با نیزه او را به زمین بکوبم. فقط یک ضربه کافی است که او را بکشم و ضربۀ دوم ضرور نیست.»
9David said to Abishai, “Don’t destroy him; for who can put forth his hand against Yahweh’s anointed, and be guiltless?”
9داود گفت: «نی، او را نکش. زیرا هر کسیکه دست خود را بر شخص برگزیدۀ خدا دراز کند، جزا می بیند.
10David said, “As Yahweh lives, Yahweh will strike him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
10البته به خداوند قسم که روزی او را می کشد. یا به اجل خود می میرد و یا در جنگ کشته می شود.
11Yahweh forbid that I should put forth my hand against Yahweh’s anointed; but now please take the spear that is at his head, and the jar of water, and let us go.”
11خدا به من دست آنرا ندهد که پادشاه برگزیدۀ خدا را بکشم! ولی یک کار می کنم. نیزه ایکه بالای سرش است و کوزۀ آبش را می گیریم و از اینجا می رویم!»
12So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul’s head; and they went away: and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake; for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from Yahweh was fallen on them.
12پس داود نیزه و کوزۀ آب شائول را از بالای سرش برداشته براه خود رفت. هیچ کسی آن ها را ندید، نفهمید و بیدار نشد، چون خداوند خواب سنگینی بر همگی آورده بود.
13Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of the mountain afar off; a great space being between them;
13بعد داود از تپه بالا شد و به طرف دیگر آن رفت. و پس از طی مسافۀ دوری بر بالای تپه ایستاد.
14and David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, “Don’t you answer, Abner?” Then Abner answered, “Who are you who cries to the king?”
14آنگاه با صدای بلند خطاب به سپاه شائول و اَبنیر کرده گفت: «اَبنیر جواب بده!» او جواب داد: «تو کیستی که به پادشاه امر می کنی؟»
15David said to Abner, “Aren’t you a man? Who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not kept watch over your lord, the king? For one of the people came in to destroy the king your lord.
15داود به اَبنیر گفت: «آیا تو مرد هستی؟ مقامی که تو داری هیچ کس دیگر در تمام اسرائیل ندارد. پس چرا از آقای خود، پادشاه بدرستی نگهبانی نمی کنی؟ زیرا یکنفر آمد که آقایت را بکشد، اما تو خبر نشدی.
16This thing isn’t good that you have done. As Yahweh lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, Yahweh’s anointed. Now see where the king’s spear is, and the jar of water that was at his head.”
16پس کار خوبی نکردی. به خداوند زنده قسم بخاطر اینکه از آقای خود که پادشاه برگزیدۀ خداوند است، بخوبی حفاظت نکردی، سزاوار کشتن هستی. آیا می دانی که نیزه و کوزۀ آب پادشاه که بالای سرش بودند، کجا هستند؟»
17Saul knew David’s voice, and said, “Is this your voice, my son David?” David said, “It is my voice, my lord, O king.”
17شائول صدای داود را شناخت و پرسید: «این صدای تو است، داود پسرم؟» داود جواب داد: «بلی، سرورم! این صدای من است.
18He said, “Why does my lord pursue after his servant? For what have I done? Or what evil is in my hand?
18من چه کرده ام؟ گناه این خدمتگارت چیست که همیشه در تعقیبش هستی؟ از پادشاه خود تمنا می کنم که به عرض این بنده گوش بدهد.
19Now therefore, please let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it is so that Yahweh has stirred you up against me, let him accept an offering. But if it is the children of men, they are cursed before Yahweh; for they have driven me out this day that I shouldn’t cling to Yahweh’s inheritance, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods!’
19اگر این عمل تو مطابق برضای خدا باشد، من قربانی تقدیم می کنم و بخشش می خواهم و اگر دسیسۀ یک انسان باشد، لعنت خداوند بر او باد! تو مرا از دیار و خانه ام آواره کردی که دیگر نمی توانم در مراسم دینی با مردم خود شرکت کنم و خدا را عبادت نمایم و در عوض، می خواهی بروم و خدایان بیگانه را پرستش کنم.
20Now therefore, don’t let my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of Yahweh; for the king of Israel has come out to seek a flea, as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.”
20حالا التجا می کنم که نگذار خون من در دیار بیگانگان و دور از حضور خداوند بزمین بریزد. چرا پادشاه اسرائیل با این بزرگی مثل کسیکه برای شکار یک کبک به کوهها می رود باید به تعقیب من که مانند یک کیک ناچیز هستم، باشد؟»
21Then Saul said, “I have sinned. Return, my son David; for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.”
21شائول گفت: «من گناهکار هستم. داود فرزندم، برو به خانه ات برگرد. من دیگر آزاری به تو نمی رسانم، زیرا تو امروز مرا از مرگ نجات دادی. رفتار من احمقانه بود و می دانم که خطای بزرگی از من سر زد.»
22David answered, “Behold the spear, O king! Then let one of the young men come over and get it.
22داود گفت: «نیزه ات پیش من است یکی از محافظینت را بفرست که آنرا برایت بیاورد.
23Yahweh will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; because Yahweh delivered you into my hand today, and I wouldn’t put forth my hand against Yahweh’s anointed.
23خداوند هر کسی را از روی صداقت و وفاداری او اجر می دهد. خداوند ترا امروز به دست من داد، اما من به تو که چون پادشاه برگزیدۀ خداوند هستی، ضرری نرساندم.
24Behold, as your life was respected this day in my eyes, so let my life be respected in the eyes of Yahweh, and let him deliver me out of all oppression.”
24پس همانطوریکه زندگی تو پیش من عزیز است، حیات مرا هم گرامی بدار و دعا می کنم که خداوند مرا از اینهمه مصیبت ها نجات بدهد.»شائول به داود گفت: «برکت ببینی فرزندم. تو در آینده کارهای مهمی را انجام می دهی و در همۀ آن ها موفق می شوی.» آنگاه داود براه خود رفت و شائول هم به خانۀ خود برگشت.
25Then Saul said to David, “You are blessed, my son David. You shall both do mightily, and shall surely prevail.” So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
25شائول به داود گفت: «برکت ببینی فرزندم. تو در آینده کارهای مهمی را انجام می دهی و در همۀ آن ها موفق می شوی.» آنگاه داود براه خود رفت و شائول هم به خانۀ خود برگشت.
