1It happened in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, “Know assuredly that you shall go out with me in the army, you and your men.”
1در همان روز فلسطینی ها سپاه خود را جمع کردند تا در مقابل اسرائیل بجنگند. اَخیش به داود گفت: «تو و مردانت باید به میدان جنگ بروید و به ما کمک کنید.»
2David said to Achish, “Therefore you shall know what your servant will do.” Achish said to David, “Therefore will I make you my bodyguard for ever.”
2داود گفت: «بسیار خوب، خواهی دید که نوکرت چه کارروائی هائی خواهد کرد.» اَخیش گفت: «پس در اینصورت ترا برای همیشه بحیث محافظ خود مقرر می کنم.»
3Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had put away those who had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
3در عین حال سموئیل مرده بود و تمام قوم اسرائیل برای او ماتم گرفتند. و بعد او را در شهر خودش، در رامه بخاک سپردند. و شائول پادشاه، همه فالبین ها و جادوگران را از کشور اسرائیل بیرون راند.
4The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.
4فلسطینی ها آمدند و در شونیم اردو زدند. و شائول با سپاه خود در جِلبوع سنگر گرفت.
5When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
5وقتی شائول سپاه عظیم فلسطینی ها را دید ترسید
6When Saul inquired of Yahweh, Yahweh didn’t answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
6و از خداوند سوال کرد که چه کند. اما خداوند جوابش را نداد ـ نه در خواب و نه بذریعۀ اوریم و نه بواسطۀ انبیاء.
7Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek me a woman who has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her.” His servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at Endor.”
7آنگاه شائول به خادمان خود گفت: «بروید زنی را که جن داشته باشد پیدا کنید، تا پیش او رفته بپرسم که چه باید بکنم.» آن ها رفتند و یک زن را در عین دور یافتند.
8Saul disguised himself, and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, “Please divine to me by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomever I shall name to you.”
8پس شائول تغییر قیافه داده لباس عادی پوشید و در وقت شب به خانۀ آن زن رفت. از او خواهش کرده گفت: «بوسیلۀ جنی که داری برای من فال ببین و شخصی را که نام ببرم برایم بیاور.»
9The woman said to him, “Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?”
9زن به او گفت: «تو خوب می دانی که شائول تمام فالگیران و جادوگران را از کشور بیرون راند. پس چطور می خواهی که من خود را بدام بیندازم و خود را به کشتن بدهم؟»
10Saul swore to her by Yahweh, saying, “As Yahweh lives, no punishment shall happen to you for this thing.”
10شائول گفت: «بنام خداوند قسم می خورم که از این بابت هیچ ضرری بتو نمی رسد.»
11Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up to you?” He said, “Bring Samuel up for me.”
11زن پرسید: «چه کسی را می خواهی که برایت بیاورم؟» او جواب داد: «سموئیل را.»
12When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!”
12وقتی آن زن سموئیل را دید با آواز بلند فریاد کشید و به شائول گفت: «برای چه مرا فریب دادی؟ تو شائول هستی.»
13The king said to her, “Don’t be afraid. For what do you see?” The woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.”
13پادشاه به او گفت: «چه را می بینی؟» زن گفت: «روحی را می بینم که از زمین بیرون می آید.»
14He said to her, “What does he look like?” She said, “An old man comes up. He is covered with a robe.” Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and showed respect.
14شائول پرسید: «چه شکل دارد؟» زن جواب داد: «مرد پیری را می بینم که ردای پوشیده است.» آنگاه شائول دانست که او سموئیل است. پس رو بزمین خم شد و تعظیم کرد.
15Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me, to bring me up?” Saul answered, “I am very distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.”
15سموئیل به شائول گفت: «چرا آسایش مرا برهم زدی و مرا به اینجا آوردی؟» شائول گفت: «مشکل بزرگی دارم، زیرا فلسطینی ها به جنگ من آمده اند. خداوند مرا ترک کرده است و دیگر به سوالهای من جواب نمی دهد ـ نه بواسطۀ انبیاء و نه در خواب. بنابران، ترا خواستم تا به من بگوئی که چه چاره کنم.»
16Samuel said, “Why then do you ask of me, since Yahweh has departed from you and has become your adversary?
16سموئیل گفت: «در صورتیکه می دانی خداوند ترا ترک کرده و دشمن تو شده است، از من چرا سوال می کنی؟
17Yahweh has done to you as he spoke by me. Yahweh has torn the kingdom out of your hand, and given it to your neighbor, even to David.
17خداوند طوریکه قبلاً به من گفته بود، عمل کرد. او پادشاهی را از تو گرفته و به رقیبت، داود داده است.
18Because you didn’t obey the voice of Yahweh, and didn’t execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore Yahweh has done this thing to you this day.
18زیرا که تو امر خداوند را بجا نیاوردی و به عمالیق قهر و غضب او را نشان ندادی. بنابران، خداوند این روز را بر سر تو آورد.
19Moreover Yahweh will deliver Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Yahweh will deliver the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.”
19علاوه براین، تو و قوم اسرائیل به دست فلسطینی ها اسیر می شوید و تو و پسرانت فردا پیش من خواهید بود. و تمام لشکر اسرائیلی بکلی نابود می شود.»
20Then Saul fell immediately his full length on the earth, and was terrified, because of the words of Samuel. There was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
20آنگاه شائول بروی زمین دراز افتاد، زیرا سخنان سموئیل او را بشدت ترساند. برعلاوه، چون تمام شب و روز چیزی نخورده بود، بیحال شده بود.
21The woman came to Saul, and saw that he was very troubled, and said to him, “Behold, your handmaid has listened to your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.
21وقتی آن زن وضع پریشان شائول را دید به او گفت: «کنیزت امرت را بجا آورد و جان خود را بخطر انداخت.
22Now therefore, please listen also to the voice of your handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, when you go on your way.”
22حالا تمنا می کنم که تو هم خواهش کنیزت را بپذیر و یک چیزی بخور تا کمی قوت یافته براه خود بروی.»
23But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he listened to their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat on the bed.
23اما شائول از خوردن خودداری کرده گفت: «من چیزی نمی خورم.» خادمانش هم با آن زن همنوا شده اصرار نمودند. پس شائول از زمین برخاسته و بر بستر نشست.
24The woman had a fattened calf in the house. She hurried and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread of it.
24آن زن فوراً گوسالۀ چاقی را که در خانه داشت کشت. آرد را خمیر کرده نان فطیر پخت.و بعد غذا را پیش شائول و خادمانش آورد. بعد از آنکه نان خورده شد، برخاستند و شباشب براه افتادند.
25She brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they ate. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
