1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
1در سال هجدهم سلطنت یَرُبعام، اَبِیا پادشاه یَهُودا شد.
2He reigned three years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
2او مدت سه سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد. مادرش میکایا، دختر اوری ئیل و از باشندگان شهر جبعه بود.
در ابتدای سلطنتش جنگ بین او و یَرُبعام شروع شد.
3Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.
3اَبِیا با یک سپاهی که متشکل از چهارصد هزار نفر از جنگاوران آزموده و شجاع بود به میدان جنگ رفت. یَرُبعام هم با هشتصد هزار نفر از مردان دلاور و انتخابی برای جنگ صف آراست.
4Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
4اَبِیا بر کوه صَماریم، در کوهستان افرایم ایستاد خطاب به یَرُبعام و مردم اسرائیل کرده گفت: «ای یَرُبعام و همۀ مردم اسرائیل به من گوش بدهید!
5Ought you not to know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
5آیا نمی دانید که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل، سلطنت اسرائیل را مطابق یک پیمان ناشکن و ابدی به داود و اولادۀ او بخشید.
6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
6اما یَرُبعام، پسر نباط که خدمتگار سلیمان، پسر داود بود در مقابل پادشاه دست بشورش زد.
7There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
7پسانتر یک عده از اشخاص پست و فرومایه بدور او جمع شدند و او را در جنگ با رَحُبعام، پسر سلیمان تشویق کردند و چون رَحُبعام یک جوان بی تجربه بود، نتوانست در مقابل آن ها مقاومت کند.
8“Now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.
8حالا شما فکر می کنید که با لشکر بزرگ و با کمک بتهای گوسالۀ طلائی که یَرُبعام برای تان ساخت تا آن ها را پرستش کنید، در برابر سلطنت خداوند که به دست اولادۀ داود است مقاومت کرده می توانید.
9Haven’t you driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves after the ways of the peoples of other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods.
9شما کاهنان و لاویان را که اولادۀ هارون هستند از وطن شان راندید و بعوض شان از بین مردمان بیگانه کاهنان را برای خود انتخاب کردید و مثل همان مردم هر کسی که با یک گوساله یا هفت قوچ بیاید خود را تقدیس کند او را بحیث کاهن آنهائی که خدا نیستند انتخاب می کنید.
10“But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering to Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:
10اما خدای ما خداوند است. ما او را ترک نکرده ایم. کاهنان ما که در خدمت خداوند مشغول اند همه پسران و اولادۀ هارون هستند و لاویان هم برای کمک به آن ها آماده اند.
11and they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the instruction of Yahweh our God; but you have forsaken him.
11آن ها هر صبح و شام قربانی های سوختنی، خوشبوئی و عطریات بحضور خداوند تقدیم می کنند. نان مخصوص را بر سر میز مقدس می گذارند. هر شام چراغهای چراغدان طلائی را روشن می کنند، زیرا ما اوامر و هدایات خداوند را بدقت پیروی می نمائیم، اما شما او را ترک کرده اید.
12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.”
12پس می بینید که خداوند همراه و راهنمای ما است. کاهنان او با سُرنای بلندآواز، سرود جنگ را برضد شما می نوازند. ای بنی اسرائیل، با خداوند، خدای اجداد تان جنگ و ستیزه نکنید، زیرا روی پیروزی را نمی بینید.»
13But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
13در عین حال یَرُبعام یک عده از عساکر خود را مخفیانه فرستاد تا از پشت سر بر لشکر یَهُودا حمله کنند. به این ترتیب، سپاه یَهُودا از پیشرو و پشت سر محاصره شد.
14When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
14وقتی آن ها خود را در محاصرۀ دشمن دیدند، بحضور خداوند زاری کردند و کاهنان بنواختن سُرنا شروع نمودند.
15Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
15بعد سپاه یَهُودا بانگ بلند جنگ را برآوردند و بمجردیکه بانگ آن ها بلند شد، خدا یَرُبعام و همه لشکر اسرائیل را به دست اَبِیا و سپاه یَهُودا شکست داد.
16The children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.
16عساکر اسرائیلی گریختند و خدا آن ها را به دست سپاه یَهُودا تسلیم کرد.
17Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
17اَبِیا و مردان او با کشتار عظیمی آن ها را شکست دادند، بطوریکه پنجصد هزار نفر مردان جنگی و انتخابی آن ها بقتل رسیدند.
18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
18به این ترتیب، سپاه اسرائیل در آن جنگ مغلوب و لشکر یَهُودا غالب شد، زیرا مردان یَهُودا به خداوند، خدای خود توکل کردند.
19Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its towns, and Jeshanah with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.
19اَبِیا به تعقیب یَرُبعام رفت و شهرهای بیت ئیل، یشانه و افرون را با دهات آن ها تصرف کرد.
20Jeroboam didn’t recover strength again in the days of Abijah. Yahweh struck him, and he died.
20در دوران سلطنت اَبِیا، یَرُبعام قدرت از دست رفتۀ خود را باز نیافت و خداوند او را زد و او مُرد.
21But Abijah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
21اما قدرت اَبِیا روزافزون بود. او چهارده زن، بیست و دو پسر و شانزده دختر داشت.بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت اَبِیا، رفتار و اعمال او همه در کتاب تاریخ عِدوی نبی ثبت اند.
