1It happened after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
1بعد از مدتی، موآبیان و عَمونی ها با عده ای از معونی ها به جنگ یَهُوشافاط آمدند.
2Then some came who told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Syria. Behold, they are in Hazazon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi).
2به یَهُوشافاط خبر رسید که لشکر عظیم سوریه، از آن طرف دریای شور آمده اند و در حَزَزون ـ تامار یعنی «عین جدی» موضع گرفته اند.
3Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set himself to seek to Yahweh. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
3یَهُوشافاط از این خبر هراسان شد و به خداوند متوسل گردید و به سراسر یَهُودا اعلان کرد که همه مردم روزه بگیرند.
4Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help from Yahweh. They came out of all the cities of Judah to seek Yahweh.
4مردم یَهُودا هم از همه شهرهای یَهُودا آمدند و با هم یکجا شدند تا به اتفاق هم از خداوند کمک بطلبند.
5Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Yahweh, before the new court;
5یَهُوشافاط در بین جمعیت مردم در پیش روی حویلی نو عبادتگاه خداوند در اورشلیم ایستاد و
6and he said, “Yahweh, the God of our fathers, aren’t you God in heaven? Aren’t you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.
6این چنین دعا کرد: «ای خداوند، خدای پدران ما و یگانه خدای آسمان ها! تو پادشاه همه سلاطین جهان هستی. در برابر بازوی نیرومند و توانای تو هیچ کسی جرأت مقاومت را ندارد.
7Didn’t you, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham your friend forever?
7تو ای خدای ما، باشندگان این سرزمین را از سر راه قومت، اسرائیل راندی و آن را به اولادۀ دوستت، ابراهیم برای همیشه بخشیدی.
8They lived in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying,
8آن ها در آن سکونت اختیار کردند و عبادتگاهی بنام تو بنا نمودند.
9‘If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’
9و گفتند: «اگر بلائی از قبیل جنگ، مرض و یا قحطی بر سر ما بیاید، ما بدرگاه تو در این عبادتگاه که بنام مقدس تو یاد می شود، می ایستیم و برای نجات خود دعا و زاری می کنیم. تو دعای ما را می شنوی و ما را نجات می دهی.»
10Now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and didn’t destroy them;
10حالا می بینی که لشکر عَمون، موآب و کوه سعیر برای حمله آمده اند. وقتی مردم اسرائیل از مصر خارج شدند تو به آن ها اجازه ندادی که داخل کشور شان شوند و آن ها را از بین ببرند،
11behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.
11اما امروز آن ها آمده اند که پاداش نیکی ما را با راندن ما از این خاک بدهند و مُلک و دارائی ما را که تو به ما بعنوان ملکیت بخشیدی از ما بگیرند.
12Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
12آه، ای خداوند ما! آیا از آن ها بازخواست نمی کنی؟ زیرا ما در مقابل این لشکر عظیم که بجنگ ما آمده است، بیچاره هستیم. اما چشم امید ما بطرف تو است.»
13All Judah stood before Yahweh, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
13در عین حال تمام مردم یَهُودا با فرزندان، زنان و کودکان خود بحضور خداوند ایستادند،
14Then the Spirit of Yahweh came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly;
14و روح خداوند بر یکی از مردانی که در آنجا ایستاده بود، آمد. (نام این شخص یحزیئیل پسر زکریا، پسر بنایا، پسر یعی ئیل، پسر مَتَنِیای لاوی از خانوادۀ آساف بود.)
15and he said, “Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus says Yahweh to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
15یحزیئیل گفت: «بشنوید ای مردم یَهُودا، باشندگان اورشلیم و یَهُوشافاط پادشاه! خداوند چنین می فرماید: ترس را بدل تان راه ندهید و از این لشکر عظیم هراسان نباشید، زیرا این جنگ، جنگ شما نیست، بلکه جنگ خدا است.
16Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz. You shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
16فردا بمقابلۀ آن ها بروید. آن ها را بر فراز صیص در انتهای وادی در شرق بیابان یروئیل می بینید.
17You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you.’”
17شما مجبور نیستید که جنگ کنید. در اردوگاه خود آرام بایستید، آنوقت خواهید دید که خداوند چگونه ظفر را نصیب تان می کند. ای مردم یَهُودا و اورشلیم نترسید و هراسان نباشید. فردا به مقابلۀ آن ها بروید. خداوند همراه شما است.»
18Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Yahweh, worshipping Yahweh.
18آنگاه یَهُوشافاط رو به زمین افتاد و همه مردم یَهُودا و باشندگان اورشلیم نیز بحضور خداوند سجده کردند و او را پرستیدند.
19The Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.
19آنگاه لاویانی از خانواده های قُهاتی و قورَحی برخاستند و با آواز بلند خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را سپاس گفتند.
20They rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Yahweh your God, so you shall be established! Believe his prophets, so you shall prosper.”
20صبح وقت روز دیگر همگی برخاستند و به بیابان تَقوع رفتند. در بین راه یَهُوشافاط ایستاد و گفت: «ای مردم یَهُودا و ساکنین اورشلیم بشنوید! به خداوند، خدای خود توکل کنید تا نیرومند شوید! به سخنان انبیاء او باور کنید تا در همه کارهای تان موفق گردید.»
21When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Yahweh, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks to Yahweh; for his loving kindness endures forever.
21پس از آنکه با مردم مشوره کرد، چند نفر را گماشت تا سرود حمد خداوند را بنوازند و پیشاپیش لشکر با لباس مخصوص بروند و بگویند: «خدا را شکر کنید، زیرا محبت او جاودانی است.»
22When they began to sing and to praise, Yahweh set ambushers against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck.
22وقتی آن ها شروع بنواختن سرود حمد و ثنا کردند، خداوند سپاه عمونیان، موآبیان و کوه سعیر را که بغرض حمله بر یَهُودا آمده بودند بوحشت انداخت و سراسیمه کرد و آن ها را شکست داد.
23For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, utterly to kill and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy another.
23لشکر موآبیان و عمونیان بر باشندگان کوه سعیر تاختند و همه را کشتند. بعد از آن بجان یکدیگر خود افتادند و به دست خود از بین رفتند.
24When Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude; and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped.
24وقتی سپاه یَهُودا به برج پهره داران در بیابان رسیدند، در آنجا اجساد کشته شدگان را دیدند که بروی زمین افتاده بودند و حتی یکنفر هم نتوانسته بود فرار کند.
25When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.
25یَهُوشافاط و عساکر او غنیمت بسیاری گرفتند و مقدار زیادی از اموال، البسه و اشیای گرانبها را تا که برده می توانستند برای خود گرفتند. غنیمت آنقدر زیاد بود که جمع کردن آن سه روز را در بر گرفت.
26On the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed Yahweh: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah to this day.
26در روز چهارم در وادی برکت اجتماع کردند و مراتب شکرگزاری را بحضور خداوند بجا آوردند و او را متبارک خواندند و از همین جهت است که آنجا را وادی برکت نامیدند و تا به امروز به همین نام یاد می شود.
27Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in their forefront, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Yahweh had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
27بعد همۀ مردم یَهُودا و اورشلیم بسرکردگی یَهُوشافاط با خوشی سُرُور کامل به اورشلیم برگشتند، زیرا خداوند آن ها را بر دشمنان شان غالب کرده بود.
28They came to Jerusalem with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets to the house of Yahweh.
28آن ها با ساز چنگ و رباب و نَی به عبادتگاه خداوند در اورشلیم داخل شدند.
29The fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Yahweh fought against the enemies of Israel.
29چون پادشاهان ممالک اطراف شنیدند که خداوند شخصاً با دشمنان اسرائیل جنگ کرد همه را ترس فرا گرفت.
30So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; for his God gave him rest all around.
30بنابران، در قلمرو یَهُوشافاط آرامی حکمفرما شد و خداوند از هر طرف به او آرامی بخشید.
31Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
31این بود شرح حال دوران سلطنت یَهُوشافاط. او در سن سی سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدت بیست و پنج سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. مادرش عَزوبه، دختر شِلحی بود.
32He walked in the way of Asa his father, and didn’t turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh.
32او در راه پدر خود، آسا قدم برداشت و از آن راه انحراف نکرد. اعمال او همه مورد پسند خداوند بودند.
33However the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts to the God of their fathers.
33اما معابد بالای تپه ها را ویران نکرد و دلهای مردم هنوز هم مایل به خدای پدران شان نبودند.
34Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.
34بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت یَهُوشافاط را، از آغاز تا انجام، یِیهُوی پسر حنانی گزارش داده است که در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل ثبت اند.
35After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel. The same did very wickedly:
35یَهُوشافاط، پادشاه یَهُودا با اخزیا، پادشاه اسرائیل که یک شخص بد بود معاهدۀ دوستی امضاء کرد.
36and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish; and they made the ships in Ezion Geber.
36با او در ساختن کشتی برای سفر به ترشیش شریک شد و همچنین کشتی هائی هم در عَصیون ـ جابَر ساختند.آنگاه اَلِعازار، پسر دودواهوی مَریشایی در بارۀ یَهُوشافاط پیشگوئی کرده گفتند: «چون تو با اخزیا همدست شدی، خداوند همه چیزهائی را که ساخته ای از بین می برد.» بنابران همه کشتی ها شکستند و نتوانستند که به ترشیش بروند.
37Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, Yahweh has destroyed your works.” The ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
37آنگاه اَلِعازار، پسر دودواهوی مَریشایی در بارۀ یَهُوشافاط پیشگوئی کرده گفتند: «چون تو با اخزیا همدست شدی، خداوند همه چیزهائی را که ساخته ای از بین می برد.» بنابران همه کشتی ها شکستند و نتوانستند که به ترشیش بروند.
