1Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Jehoram his son reigned in his place.
1وقتی یَهُوشافاط فوت کرد او را در مقبرۀ آبائی اش بخاک سپردند و پسرش، یَهُورام جانشین او شد.
2He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
2برادرانش (پسران دیگر یَهُوشافاط) عَزَریا، یحیئیل، زکریا، عَزریا، میکائیل و شِفَطیا بودند.
3Their father gave them great gifts, of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn.
3پدر شان تحفه های قیمتی از نقره و طلا، املاک و شهرهای مستحکم در یَهُودا به آن ها داد، اما سلطنت را به یَهُورام بخشید، زیرا او پسر اولش بود.
4Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and various also of the princes of Israel.
4وقتی یَهُورام بر تخت سلطنت پدر خود نشست و قدرت را به دست گرفت، همه برادران خود را همراه با عده ای از رهبران اسرائیل با شمشیر کشت.
5Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
5یَهُورام سی و دو ساله بود که پادشاه شد و مدت هشت سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد.
6He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab as wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh.
6او راه و روش پادشاهان اسرائیل را در پیش گرفت و از کارهای اخاب پیروی نمود و با دختر او ازدواج کرد. خداوند از اعمال ناشایست او ناراضی بود.
7However Yahweh would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children always.
7اما خداوند بخاطر پیمانی که با داود بسته و وعده فرموده بود که چراغ او و اولاده اش همیشه روشن باشد، نخواست که خانوادۀ داود را از بین ببرد.
8In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
8در دوران سلطنت یَهُورام، ادوم بر ضد یهودا بغاوت کرد و پادشاهی برای خود تعیین نمود.
9Then Jehoram passed over with his captains, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and struck the Edomites who surrounded him, along with the captains of the chariots.
9یَهُورام با تمام لشکر و عرابه های جنگی خود به عزم حمله حرکت کرد. ادومیان او را با سپاه و تجهیزاتش محاصره کردند، اما آن ها هنگام شب از تاریکی استفاده کرده فرار نمودند.
10So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day: then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Yahweh, the God of his fathers.
10بنابران، ادوم تا به امروز بر ضد یهودا بغاوت خود را ادامه داده است. در همان وقت لِبنَه هم بر ضد حکومت یَهُورام شورش کرد، زیرا که او خداوند، خدای پدران خود را ترک کرده بود.
11Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and made the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute, and led Judah astray.
11یَهُورام برعلاوۀ کارهای زشت خود بتخانه هائی هم در کوهستان یَهُودا آباد کرد و باشندگان اورشلیم را تشویق نمود که در آن معابد عبادت کنند و همۀ آن ها را گمراه ساخت.
12A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of David your father, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
12آنگاه اِیلیای نبی نامه ای به این مضمون برای او نوشت: «خداوند، خدای جدت، داود می فرماید: تو نه در راه خوب پدرت، یَهُوشافاط رفتی و نه از روش نیک آسا، پادشاه یَهُودا پیروی کردی،
13but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute, like the house of Ahab did, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than yourself:
13بلکه راه و روش پادشاهان اسرائیل را تعقیب نمودی، مثل خاندان اخاب، مردم یَهُودا و باشندگان اورشلیم را گمراه ساختی و براه گناه و بت پرستی کشاندی، برادرانت را هم که اعضای فامیل پدرت و همۀ آن ها از تو بهتر بودند کشتی،
14behold, Yahweh will strike with a great plague your people, and your children, and your wives, and all your substance;
14بنابران، بلای بدی را بر سر ملت، اطفال، زنها و دارائی ات می آورد.
15and you shall have great sickness by disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”
15تو خودت به مرض روده دردی مبتلا می شوی که درد آن روزبروز بدتر می گردد و روده هایت گنده شده بیرون می ریزند.»
16Yahweh stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians who are beside the Ethiopians:
16آنگاه خداوند کاری کرد که فلسطینی ها و عربها که همسایۀ حبشی ها بودند، بر یَهُودا حمله آوردند و آنرا تصرف کردند. همه چیزهائی را که در قصر شاه یافتند و متعلق به او بودند با خود بردند. همچنان پسران و زنان او را هم اسیر گرفتند و بغیر از پسر کوچکش، یَهواَخاز هیچ کسی را برای او باقی نگذاشتند.
17and they came up against Judah, and broke into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
17بعد از همۀ این وقایع، خداوند او را به مرض بیدرمانی مبتلا کرد.
18After all this Yahweh struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
18سرانجام، در اخیر سال دوم بخاطر مرضی که دامنگیرش شده بود روده هایش بیرون ریختند و با رنج و عذاب شدیدی جان داد. ملت او، وقتیکه پدرش فوت کرد، به افتخارش آتش روشن کردند، ولی او را بدون هیچگونه مراسمی بخاک سپردند.او در سن سی و دو سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدت هشت سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. مرگ او برای مردم بی تأثیر بود و او را در شهر داود دفن کردند، ولی نه در مقبرۀ پادشاهان.
19It happened, in process of time, at the end of two years, that his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of severe diseases. His people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
19او در سن سی و دو سالگی به سلطنت رسید و مدت هشت سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. مرگ او برای مردم بی تأثیر بود و او را در شهر داود دفن کردند، ولی نه در مقبرۀ پادشاهان.
20Thirty-two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years: and he departed without being desired; and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
