¹The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place; for the band of men who came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

¹بعد مردم اورشلیم اخزیا کوچکترین پسر یَهُورام را به پادشاهی انتخاب کردند، زیرا آن گروهی که با عربها به یَهُودا حمله کردند، سایر پسران او را کشتند. بنابران، اخزیا، پسر کوچک یَهُورام به پادشاهی رسید.

²Forty-two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

²او بیست و دو ساله بود که بر تخت سلطنت نشست و مدت یکسال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. مادرش نواسۀ عُمری بود و عتَلیا نام داشت.

³He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab; for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.

³اخزیا هم راه و روش خانوادۀ اخاب را در پیش گرفت، زیرا مادرش او را در ارتکاب اعمال زشت تشویق می کرد.

⁴He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as did the house of Ahab; for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

⁴او مثل خانوادۀ اخاب کارهائی کرد که خداوند را ناراضی ساخت، چون بعد از مرگ پدرش مشاورینش او را به راه نابودی کشاندند.

⁵He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.

⁵حتی با مشورۀ آن ها به اتفاق یُورام، پسر اخاب پادشاه، اسرائیل برای جنگ با حَزایل، پادشاه سوریه به راموت جِلعاد رفت. عساکر سوریه یُورام را زخمی کردند

⁶He returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

⁶و او برای تداوی جراحاتی که در جنگ با حَزایل، پادشاه سوریه برداشته بود، به یِزرعیل رفت. اخزیا، پسر یَهُورام پادشاه برای عیادت او به یِزرعیل آمد.

⁷Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went to Joram: for when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

⁷از طرف خدا مقدر بود که سقوط اخزیا با رفتن او پیش یُورام صورت بگیرد، زیرا وقتی به آنجا رسید، با یَهُورام به ملاقات ییهُو، پسر نِمشی رفت. (نِمشی کسی بود که خداوند او را برای نابودی خاندان اخاب تعیین کرد.)

⁸It happened, when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, that he found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah, ministering to Ahaziah, and killed them.

⁸هنگامی که ییهُو می خواست خانوادۀ اخاب را قصاص کند، با چند نفر از شهزادگان یَهُودا و برادرزاده های اخزیا که ضمناً مأمورین او هم بودند، برخورد و ییهُو آن ها را کشت.

⁹He sought Ahaziah, and they caught him (now he was hiding in Samaria), and they brought him to Jehu, and killed him; and they buried him, for they said, “He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Yahweh with all his heart.” The house of Ahaziah had no power to hold the kingdom.

⁹بعد به جستجوی اخزیا رفت و او را در حالیکه در سامره پنهان شده بود، یافت و پیش ییهُو آورد و ییهُو او را نیز بقتل رساند. وقتی او را دفن می کردند، گفتند: «این است نواسۀ یَهُوشافاط که از دل و جان به خداوند ایمان داشت.» به این ترتیب، از خانوادۀ اخزیا کسی بجا نماند که قادر به پیشبرد سلطنت باشد.

¹⁰Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Judah.

¹⁰وقتی عتَلیا، مادر اخزیا از مرگ پسر خود اطلاع یافت، امر کرد که همه اعضای خانوادۀ پادشاهان یَهُودا کشته شوند.

¹¹But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that she didn’t kill him.

¹¹اما یَهُوشَبَع، دختر پادشاه، یوآش، پسر اخزیا را که بنا بود کشته شود، از بین پسران شاه دزدید و با دایه اش در یکی از اطاقهای خواب پنهان کرد. به این ترتیب، یَهُوشَبَع، دختر یَهُورام پادشاه و زن یَهُوداع کاهن بخاطریکه خواهر اخزیا بود، طفل را از عتَلیا پنهان کرد و از کشته شدن نجاتش داد.یوآش مدت شش سال در عبادتگاه خداوند پنهان ماند و عتَلیا زمام امور سلطنت را در دست داشت.

¹²He was with them hidden in God’s house six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.
