1All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.
1مردم یَهُودا، عُزیا را که شانزده ساله بود بعوض پدرش، اَمَصیا به پادشاهی انتخاب کردند.
2He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
2او بعد از مرگ پدر خود شهر ایلوت را آباد کرد و آنرا دوباره ضمیمۀ یَهُودا ساخت.
3Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.
3عُزیا شانزده ساله بود که به سلطنت رسید و مدت پنجاه دو سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش یَکُلیا و از باشندگان اورشلیم بود.
4He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.
4خداوند از اعمال و کردار او راضی بود. او راه و روش پدر خود، اَمَصیا را در پیش گرفت
5He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Yahweh, God made him to prosper.
5و تا که زکریا زنده بود از دل و جان می کوشید تا خوشنودی و رضایت خداوند را حاصل کند، زیرا زکریا او را در راه خدا پرستی تشویق و راهنمائی می کرد. چون عُزیا طالب خداوند بود، خداوند هم او را برکت داد و در کارهایش توفیق بخشید.
6He went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
6عُزیا با فلسطینی ها به جنگ رفت و دیوارهای جَت، یَبنه و اَشدُود را ویران کرد، و شهرهائی در سرزمین اَشدُود و دیگر مناطق فلسطینی ها بنا نمود.
7God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim.
7خدا او را در جنگ با فلسطینی ها و عربهای که در جور بَعل ساکن بودند و همچنین در جنگ با معونی ها کمک کرد.
8The Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he grew exceeding strong.
8عَمونی ها به او جزیه می دادند و شهرت او تا سرحدات مصر رسید و صاحب قدرت زیادی شد.
9Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
9برعلاوه، برجهای مستحکم بر دروازۀ زاویه و دروازۀ وادی در جائی که حصار اورشلیم می پیچید، ساخت.
10He built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock; in the lowland also, and in the plain: and he had farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved farming.
10او همچنین برجهائی در بیابان بنا کرد و کاریزها و چاه هائی هم در آنجا حُفر نمود، زیرا رمه و گلۀ زیادی در دامنۀ کوهها و دشتها داشت. عُزیا مردی بود که از دهقانی و زراعت لذت می بُرد، بنابران، دهقانان و باغبانان زیادی در کوهستانها و زمینهای زراعتی داشت.
11Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
11او دارای یک اردوی مسلح و آماده برای جنگ و متشکل از فرقه های مختلفی بود. تعداد و شمارۀ آن ها را یعی ئیل منشی و مَعَسیا معاون او تعیین و اداره می کردند. فرمانده عمومی سپاه او حَنَنیا بود.
12The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.
12فرماندهان نظامی را سرکردگان خانواده ها تشکیل می دادند. اینها همه مردان شجاع و جنگجو و تعداد شان دوهزار و ششصد نفر بود
13Under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
13و یک سپاه سیصد و هفت هزار و پنجصد نفری را که از شاه دفاع و در برابر دشمن جنگ می کرد، تحت ادارۀ خود داشتند.
14Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
14عُزیا همۀ آن ها را با کلاهِ آهنی، زره، کمان و فلاخن مجهز ساخت.
15He made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad; for he was marvelously helped, until he was strong.
15منجنیق هائی را که در اورشلیم بوسیلۀ کارگران ماهر ساخته شده بودند، در اختیار خود داشت که می توانستند سنگهای بسیار بزرگی را پرتاب کنند. به این ترتیب، شهرت عُزیا در همه جا پخش شد و قدرت زیادی پیدا کرد، زیرا از کمک فوق العادۀ خداوند برخوردار بود.
16But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Yahweh his God; for he went into Yahweh’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.
16اما قدرت و شهرت، او را مغرور ساخت و همین غرور او بود که سرانجام اسباب نابودی او را فراهم کرد، زیرا در مقابل خداوند گناه ورزید و شخصاً بداخل عبادتگاه رفت و بر قربانگاه آن خوشبوئی دود کرد.
17Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of Yahweh, who were valiant men:
17عَزریای کاهن و هشتاد نفر از کاهنان شجاع بدنبال او رفتند
18and they resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Yahweh, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from Yahweh God.”
18و مانع کار او شدند و به او گفتند: «این کار، وظیفۀ کاهنان اولادۀ هارون است که برای امور عبادتگاه تقدیس شده اند. تو حق نداری که این کار را بکنی. از اینجا خارج شو. تو خطای بزرگی را مرتکب شدی و از خداوند اجری نمی گیری.»
19Then Uzziah was angry; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Yahweh, beside the altar of incense.
19عُزیا که منقلی را برای دودکردن خوشبوئی در دست داشت، غضبناک شد و همینکه خشمش بر کاهنان افروخته گردید، ناگهان در مقابل آن ها، در پهلوی قربانگاهِ عبادتگاه خداوند، لکۀ بَرَص در پیشانی او پیدا شد.
20Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because Yahweh had struck him.
20وقتی عَزَریا و کاهنان آن لکه را در پیشانی او دیدند، فوراً او را از آنجا بیرون بردند، در حقیقت خود او هم می خواست هرچه زودتر از آنجا خارج شود، زیرا خداوند او را به آن مرض مبتلا ساخت.
21Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
21بنابران، عُزیا تا به آخر عمر خود به آن مرض دچار بود و بخاطر آن در یک خانه ای، جدا از مردم و دور از عبادتگاه خداوند بسر می برد. پسرش، یوتام سرپرست خاندان شاهی بود و امور مملکت را اداره می کرد.
22Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.
22بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت عُزیا را، از اول تا آخر، اشعیای نبی، پسر آموص ثبت کتاب کرده است.وقتی عُزیا فوت کرد و با پدران خود پیوست او را، باوجودیکه مرض جذام داشت، در مقبرۀ پادشاهان بخاک سپردند و پسرش، یوتام جانشین او شد.
23So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, “He is a leper.” Jotham his son reigned in his place.
23وقتی عُزیا فوت کرد و با پدران خود پیوست او را، باوجودیکه مرض جذام داشت، در مقبرۀ پادشاهان بخاک سپردند و پسرش، یوتام جانشین او شد.
