1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
1یوتام بیست و پنج ساله بود که به سلطنت رسید و مدت شانزده سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش یروشه، دختر صادوق بود.
2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: however he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still did corruptly.
2او مثل پدر خود با کارهای نیک خود رضایت خداوند را حاصل کرد، اما برعکس پدر خود بداخل عبادتگاه نرفت، زیرا می دانست که گناه محسوب می شود. لیکن مردم یَهُودا هنوز هم به فساد و اعمال زشت خود ادامه می دادند.
3He built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
3یوتام دروازۀ فوقانی عبادتگاه خداوند را ساخت و بر دیوار عوفل یک تعداد تعمیراتی را آباد کرد.
4Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
4برعلاوه، شهرهائی هم در کشور یَهُودا و چندین قلعه و برج در جنگلها ساخت.
5He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The children of Ammon gave that much to him in the second year also, and in the third.
5با پادشاه عَمونی جنگید و او را شکست داد. عَمونی ها سه هزار و چهارصد کیلوگرام نقره، یکهزار تُن گندم و یکهزار تُن جو به او می دادند. آن ها در سال دوم و سوم هم همان مقدار جزیه را دادند،
6So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God.
6چون رفتار و کردار یوتام در حضور خداوند راست و صادقانه بود، بنابران، صاحب قدرت زیادی شد.
7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
7بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت یوتام، جنگها و شیوه و رفتار او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل و یَهُودا ثبت اند.
8He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
8یوتام بیست و پنج ساله بود که پادشاه شد و مدت شانزده سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد.وقتی مُرد او را در شهر داود بخاک سپردند و پسرش، احاز جانشین او شد.
9Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
9وقتی مُرد او را در شهر داود بخاک سپردند و پسرش، احاز جانشین او شد.
