¹Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the assembly of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:

¹از طرف پولُس که به ارادۀ خدا، رسول مسیح عیسی است و از طرف برادر ما تیموتاوس به کلیسای خدا در شهر قرنتس و تمام مقدسین مقیم یونان تقدیم می شود.

²Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²فیض و سلامتی از جانب خدا، پدر ما، و خداوند عیسی مسیح، بر شما باد!

³Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;

³سپاس بر خدا، پدر خداوند ما عیسی مسیح که پدری مهربان و سرچشمۀ آسایش و تسلی است.

⁴who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

⁴او ما را در تمام سختی ها و زحمت های ما آسودگی بخشید، تا ما بتوانیم با استفاده از همان آسایشی که خدا به ما عطا فرمود، کسانی را که به انواع سختی ها گرفتار هستند، آسودگی بخشیم.

⁵For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.

⁵همان گونه که ما در رنج های بسیار مسیح شریک هستیم، به وسیلۀ مسیح در آسایش فراوان او نیز شریک هستیم.

⁶But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.

⁶اگر زحمات و سختی ها نصیب ما می شود، بخاطر آسودگی و نجات شماست و اگر آسایش در انتظار ماست، این هم باید موجب آسودگی خاطر شما باشد. یعنی وقتی شما هم مثل ما رنج و زحمت می کشید، پُر حوصله و با تحمل باشید.

⁷Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so also are you of the comfort.

⁷امید ما به شما استوار است، زیرا می دانیم، چنانکه در رنج های ما شریک هستید، در آسایش ما نیز حصه خواهید داشت.

⁸For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.

⁸ما نمی خواهیم از زحماتی که در ایالت آسیا برای ما پیش آمد بی خبر باشید. بارهایی که به دوش ما گذاشته شد، آنقدر گران و سنگین بود که امید خود را به زندگی از دست دادیم.

⁹Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,

⁹احساس می کردیم که حکم مرگ ما صادر شده بود. چنین واقع شد تا به خدائی که مردگان را زنده می کند متکی باشیم، نه به خود ما.

¹⁰who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

¹⁰خدا ما را از خطر مرگ بسیار وحشتناکی رهانید و امید ما باز هم به اوست که بار دیگر ما را رهائی بخشد.

¹¹you also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed on us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on your behalf.

¹¹شما نیز با دعاهای تان ما را یاری کنید تا وقتی عدۀ بسیاری برکاتی را که خدا به ما داده است ببینند، آنگاه عدۀ بیشتری به خاطر ما خدا را سپاس خواهند گفت.

¹²For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹²افتخار ما اینست و وجدان ما نیز شاهد است که در مناسبات خود با مردم این دنیا و مخصوصاً با شما با خلوص نیت و بی ریایی خدایی رفتار کرده ایم. ما به فیض خدا متکی بودیم، نه به فلسفۀ دنیوی.

¹³For we write no other things to you, than what you read or even acknowledge, and I hope you will acknowledge to the end;

¹³در آنچه نوشتیم، مقصد ما همان است که شما می خوانید و می فهمید.

¹⁴as also you acknowledged us in part, that we are your boasting, even as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

¹⁴و امیدواریم شما همانطور که ما را تا حدی می شناسید این چیزها را نیز کاملاً بفهمید تا آخر در روز عیسی خداوند، چنانکه ما به شما افتخار می کنیم شما نیز به ما افتخار کنید.

¹⁵In this confidence, I was determined to come first to you, that you might have a second benefit;

¹⁵با چنین اطمینانی بود که تصمیم گرفتم پیش از همه از شما دیدن کنم تا برکاتی دو برابر به شما برسانم.

¹⁶and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and to be sent forward by you on my journey to Judea.

¹⁶یعنی می خواستم هم در وقت رفتن به مقدونیه و هم در مراجعت از آنجا از شما دیدن کنم و در بازگشت با کمک شما، راه یهودیه را در پیش بگیرم.

¹⁷When I therefore was thus determined, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?”

¹⁷آیا این تصمیم من نشان می دهد که دچار تردید شده ام؟ آیا من هم در نقشه های خود مثل مردم این دنیا به اقتضای زمان، بلی یا نخیر می گویم؟

¹⁸But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.”

¹⁸همان گونه که سخنان خدا قابل اعتماد است، گفتار ما نیز به شما دو پهلو نمی باشد.

¹⁹For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.”

¹⁹زیرا پسر خدا، عیسی مسیح، که من و سیلوانُس و تیموتاوس او را به شما اعلام کردیم، هرگز دو دل نبود بلکه بلی او همیشه «بلی» بوده است،

²⁰For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen,” to the glory of God through us.

²⁰زیرا هرقدر که وعده های خدا زیاد باشند همۀ آن ها بطور مثبت در مسیح انجام می شوند و به این جهت وقتی خدا را ستایش می کنیم به وسیلۀ مسیح آمین می گوئیم.

²¹Now he who establishes us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;

²¹خدا، ما و شما را در پیوستگی با مسیح استوار نموده و وظیفۀ مقدسی به ما داده است.

²²who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.

²²و خدا مُهر مالکیت خود را بر ما گذاشت و روح القدس را به عنوان ضامن همۀ برکات آینده در دل های ما نهاد.

²³But I call God for a witness to my soul, that I didn’t come to Corinth to spare you.

²³به جان خود سوگند می خورم و خدا را بر این شاهد می گیرم که من از آمدن به قرنتس به این دلیل خودداری کردم، که مبادا مزاحم شما شوم.مقصود من این نیست که حاکم بر ایمان شما باشم! نخیر، بلکه ما همکاران واقعی شما هستیم تا شما به خوشی حقیقی مایل شوید، زیرا شما در ایمان پایدار هستید.

²⁴Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.

²⁴مقصود من این نیست که حاکم بر ایمان شما باشم! نخیر، بلکه ما همکاران واقعی شما هستیم تا شما به خوشی حقیقی مایل شوید، زیرا شما در ایمان پایدار هستید.
