¹In the seventh year of Jehu began Jehoash to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

¹در سال هفتم سلطنت ییهو، یوآش پادشاه شد و مدت چهل سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش زِبیه و از ساکنین بئرشِبع بود.

²Jehoash did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

²یوآش تا آخر عمر خود به پاکی زندگی کرد و با کمک و هدایات یَهویاداع کاهن کارهای خوبی کرد که خداوند را از خود راضی ساخت.

³However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

³با اینهم معابد بالای تپه ها را ویران نکرد و مردم هنوز هم در آن معابد قربانی تقدیم می نمودند و خوشبوئی دود می کردند.

⁴Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of Yahweh, in current money, the money of the persons for whom each man is rated, and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into the house of Yahweh,

⁴یوآش به کاهنان گفت: «همه پولی را که مردم بصورت هدیه می آورند و پولی که به ذمۀ مردم است و همچنین پولی را که مردم به میل خود به عبادتگاه خداوند هدیه می کنند، شما موظف هستید که آن پولها را برای ترمیم عبادتگاه خداوند مصرف کنید.»

⁵let the priests take it to them, every man from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breaches of the house, wherever any breach shall be found.”

⁵تا سال بیست و سوم سلطنت یوآش، کاهنان هنوز هم دست به کار ترمیم عبادتگاه نزده بودند.

⁶But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

⁶بنابران یوآش یَهویاداع کاهن را با سایر کاهنان بحضور خود خواسته به آن ها گفت: «چرا عبادتگاه را ترمیم نمی کنید؟ از این ببعد پولی را که می گیرید برای خود مصرف نکنید، بلکه آنرا برای ترمیم عبادتگاه به کار ببرید.»

⁷Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said to them, “Why don’t you repair the breaches of the house? Now therefore take no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.”

⁷پس کاهنان موافقه کردند که نه پولی از مردم دریافت کنند و نه خود شان کار ترمیم عبادتگاه را بدوش بگیرند.

⁸The priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, neither repair the breaches of the house.

⁸بعد یَهویاداع صندوقی را گرفته سر آن را سوراخ کرد و در پهلوی قربانگاه، در سمت راست راه دخول عبادتگاه گذاشت. کاهنانی که مسئول نگهبانی دروازۀ عبادتگاه بودند همه پولی را که مردم برای عبادتگاه خداوند می آوردند در آن می انداختند.

⁹But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of Yahweh: and the priests who kept the threshold put therein all the money that was brought into the house of Yahweh.

⁹وقتی صندوق از پول پُر می شد محاسب شاه و رئیس کاهنان می آمدند همه پولها را حساب کرده در خریطه ها می انداختند و سر خریطه ها را می بستند.

¹⁰It was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags and counted the money that was found in the house of Yahweh.

¹⁰بعد پول را وزن نموده به کسانیکه کار ترمیم عبادتگاه خداوند را نظارت می کردند، می سپردند. آن ها از آن پول اجورۀ نجار، بنا،

¹¹They gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of the house of Yahweh: and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders, who worked on the house of Yahweh,

¹¹معمار، سنگتراش و قیمت چوب سنگهای تراشیده و دیگر مصارف ترمیم عبادتگاه را می پرداختند.

¹²and to the masons and the stone cutters, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the breaches of the house of Yahweh, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

¹²مگر برای ساختن لگنهای نقره ای، گلگیر، کاسه، سرنا، ظروف طلا و نقرۀ مورد ضرورت عبادتگاه خداوند از آن پول استفاده نمی کردند.

¹³But there were not made for the house of Yahweh cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of Yahweh;

¹³همۀ آن پول را برای اجرت کارگران و خریداری مصالح تعمیراتی جهت ترمیم عبادتگاه خداوند مصرف می کردند.

¹⁴for they gave that to those who did the work, and repaired therewith the house of Yahweh.

¹⁴چون مردانیکه مسئولیت کار ترمیم را بدوش داشتند همگی اشخاص صادق بودند، از آن ها صورت حساب نمی خواستند.

¹⁵Moreover they didn’t demand an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to give to those who did the work; for they dealt faithfully.

¹⁵پول کفارۀ جرم و گناه به عبادتگاه خداوند آورده نمی شد، بلکه آن پول به کاهنان تعلق داشت.

¹⁶The money for the trespass offerings, and the money for the sin offerings, was not brought into the house of Yahweh: it was the priests’.

¹⁶در این وقت حَزایل، پادشاه ارام به شهر جَت حمله برد و آنرا تصرف نمود. بعد بعزم جنگ بسوی اورشلیم حرکت کرد.

¹⁷Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

¹⁷یوآش، پادشاه یهودا همه اشیائی را که اجداد او، یعنی یهوشافاط، یَهُورام و اخزیا، پادشاهان یهودا وقف خداوند کرده بودند برعلاوۀ همه چیزهای نقره و طلا را که در خزانه های عبادتگاه و قصر شاه بودند بعنوان تحفه برای حَزایل فرستاد، بنابران حَزایل از حمله به اورشلیم صرف نظر کرد.

¹⁸Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

¹⁸بقیه حوادث دوران سلطنت یوآش و کارروائی های او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا نوشته شده اند.

¹⁹Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

¹⁹بعد مأمورین او برضدش توطئه کردند و او را در خانۀ ملو، در امتداد راهیکه بسوی سِلی می رفت کشتند.قاتلین او یُوزاکار، پسر شِمعَت و یَهُوزاباد، پسر شومیر بودند. جسد او را با اجدادش در شهر داود بخاک سپردند و پسرش، اَمَصیا جانشین او شد.

²⁰His servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and struck Joash at the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.

²⁰قاتلین او یُوزاکار، پسر شِمعَت و یَهُوزاباد، پسر شومیر بودند. جسد او را با اجدادش در شهر داود بخاک سپردند و پسرش، اَمَصیا جانشین او شد.

²¹For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
