1In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years.
1در سال بیست و سوم سلطنت یوآش، پسر اخاز بود که یَهواَخاز بعنوان پادشاه قلمرو اسرائیل در سامره بر تخت سلطنت نشست و مدت هفده سال پادشاهی کرد.
2He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin; he didn’t depart from it.
2او کارهائی کرد که در نظر خداوند زشت بودند و راه و روش گناه آلود یَرُبعام، پسر نباط را که مردم اسرائیل را براه گناه بُرد، تعقیب کرد و از اعمال بد دست نکشید.
3The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.
3بنابران آتش خشم خداوند بر مردم اسرائیل افروخته شد و کاری کرد که حَزایل، پادشاه ارام و پسرش بنهدد بمراتب اسرائیل را شکست بدهند.
4Jehoahaz begged Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how that the king of Syria oppressed them.
4پس یَهواَخاز بحضور خداوند دعا کرد و چون خداوند روزگار بد قوم اسرائیل را دید و بخاطر ظلمی که پادشاه ارام بر آن ها می کرد، دعایش را قبول فرمود.
5(Yahweh gave Israel a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel lived in their tents as before.
5برای آن ها رهبری فرستاد و از دست ارامیان رهائی بخشید. در نتیجه قوم اسرائیل مثل سابق در خانه های خود در صلح و آرامش زندگی می کردند.
6Nevertheless they didn’t depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin, but walked therein: and there remained the Asherah also in Samaria.)
6ولی مردم اسرائیل هنوز هم از روش گناه آلود یَرُبعام دست برنداشتند و از راه خطا برنگشتند و بت اَشیره همانطور در سامره باقی ماند.
7For he didn’t leave to Jehoahaz of the people any more than fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria destroyed them, and made them like the dust in threshing.
7سرانجام سپاه یَهواَخاز به پنجاه سوار، ده عراده و ده هزار عسکر پیاده تقلیل یافت، زیرا پادشاه ارام همه را نابود و بزیر پای خود به خاک یکسان کرده بود.
8Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
8بقیه وقایع دوران سلطنت یَهواَخاز، کارها، قدرت و شجاعت او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل ثبت اند.
9Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his place.
9وقتی یَهواَخاز فوت کرد او را در هدیرۀ آبائی اش در سامره بخاک سپردند. بعد از او پسرش، یهوآش جانشین او شد.
10In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria for sixteen years.
10در سال سی و هفتم سلطنت یوآش، پادشاه یهودا، یهوآش، پسر یَهواَخاز در سامره پادشاه اسرائیل شد و مدت شانزده سال سلطنت کرد.
11He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh; he didn’t depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin; but he walked therein.
11او هم با کارهای زشت خود خداوند را ناراضی ساخت و به همان راه گناه آلودی که یَرُبعام، پسر نباط مردم اسرائیل را بُرد قدم برداشت و از آن راه برنگشت.
12Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
12بقیه حوادث زمان سلطنت یهوآش، کارروائی ها و همچنین شجاعت و جنگهای او با اَمَصیا، پادشاه یهودا در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده اند.
13Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat on his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
13وقتی یهوآش فوت کرد او را در سامره با دیگر پادشاهان اسرائیل دفن کردند و یَرُبعام بجای او بر تخت سلطنت نشست.
14Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness of which he died: and Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over him, and said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”
14در این وقت الیشع به مرض مهلکی مبتلا و بستری شده بود. یهوآش، پادشاه اسرائیل به عیادت او آمد و برایش گریه کرد و گفت: «پدر من! پدر من! ای حامی و مدافع شجاع قوم اسرائیل!»
15Elisha said to him, “Take bow and arrows”; and he took to him bow and arrows.
15الیشع به او گفت: «یک تیر و کمان را بگیر.» یهوآش تیر و کمان را گرفت.
16He said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow”; and he put his hand on it. Elisha laid his hands on the king’s hands.
16الیشع به پادشاه امر کرد: «حالا کمان را به دست بگیر و آماده شو!» او چنان کرد. بعد الیشع دستهای خود را بر دستهای پادشاه گذاشت
17He said, “Open the window eastward”; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot!” and he shot. He said, “Yahweh’s arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria; for you shall strike the Syrians in Aphek, until you have consumed them.”
17و گفت: «کلکین سمت مشرق را باز کن.» یهوآش کلکین را باز کرد و الیشع گفت: «حالا تیر را رها کن.» یهوآش تیر را رها کرد. آنگاه الیشع گفت: «این تیر خداوند است؛ تیر پیروزی بر ارامیان، زیرا تو با ارامیان در اَفِیق می جنگی و همۀ آن ها را نابود می کنی.»
18He said, “Take the arrows”; and he took them. He said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; and he struck three times, and stopped.
18سپس اضافه کرد: «تیرهای دیگر را بگیر و آن ها را به زمین بزن.» یهوآش سه بار بزمین زد و بس کرد.
19The man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it, whereas now you shall strike Syria just three times.”
19الیشع قهر شد و گفت: «تو باید پنج یا شش بار می زدی، درآن صورت می توانستی ارامیان را بکلی از بین ببری، اما حالا فقط سه بار می توانی آن ها را شکست بدهی.»
20Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
20بعد الیشع فوت کرد و او را بخاک سپردند.
لشکر موآب هر ساله در موسم بهار به کشور اسرائیل حمله می کردند.
21It happened, as they were burying a man, that behold, they spied a band; and they cast the man into the tomb of Elisha: and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
21یکروز وقتی چند نفر می خواستند جنازه ای را دفن کنند، لشکری را دیدند. آن ها به عجله مرده را در قبر الیشع انداختند. بمجردیکه مرده به استخوان های الیشع تماس کرد، زنده شد و سر دو پا ایستاد.
22Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
22حَزایل، پادشاه ارام در تمام دوران سلطنت یَهواَخاز بر مردم اسرائیل ظلم می کرد.
23But Yahweh was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
23اما خداوند بر آن ها مهربان شد و بخاطر عهدی که به ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب داده بود نخواست که آن ها از بین بروند و یا آن ها را فراموش کند.
24Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his place.
24پس از آنکه حَزایل، پادشاه ارام فوت کرد، پسرش بنهدد جانشین او شد.آنگاه یهوآش شهرهائی را که پدرش، یَهواَخاز از دست داده بود دوباره تصرف کرد و برای به دست آوردن آن شهرها سه بار آن ها را شکست داد.
25Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash struck him three times, and recovered the cities of Israel.
25آنگاه یهوآش شهرهائی را که پدرش، یَهواَخاز از دست داده بود دوباره تصرف کرد و برای به دست آوردن آن شهرها سه بار آن ها را شکست داد.
