1Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.
1یوشیا هشت ساله بود که پادشاه شد و مدت سی و یک سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش یَدیدَه و دختر عَدایه از اهالی بُصقَت بود.
2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, and walked in all the way of David his father, and didn’t turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
2یوشیا با اعمال نیک خود رضایت و خوشنودی خداوند را حاصل کرد و راه جد خود، داود را در پیش گرفت. در همه احوال از احکام خداوند پیروی نمود.
3It happened in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Yahweh, saying,
3یوشیا در سال هجدهم سلطنت خود شافان، پسر اَصَلیا، نواسۀ مَشُلام را که منشی عبادتگاه خداوند بود بحضور خود خواند و گفت:
4“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of Yahweh, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people.
4«پیش حِلقیای رئیس کاهنان برو و همه پولی را که کاهنان موظف دروازۀ دخول عبادتگاه خداوند از مردم گرفته اند بگیر،
5Let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen who have the oversight of the house of Yahweh; and let them give it to the workmen who are in the house of Yahweh, to repair the breaches of the house,
5و به کسانیکه مأمور ترمیم عبادتگاه خداوند هستند بده تا اجورۀ نجاران، معماران و بنایان و قیمت چوب و سنگ مورد ضرورت ترمیم عبادتگاه خداوند را بپردازند.
6to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the house.
6مأمورین کار ترمیم اشخاص صادق هستند و حاجت نیست که از آن ها صورت حساب مصرف پول را طلب کنی.»
7However there was no accounting made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully.”
7شافان فرمان شاه را به حِلقیا رساند، و حِلقیا به او گفت که کتاب تورات را از عبادتگاه خداوند یافته است و آنرا به شافان داد. شافان آنرا خواند.
8Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in the house of Yahweh.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
8بعد پیش پادشاه برگشت و به او گزارش داده گفت: «پولی را که در عبادتگاه بود گرفتم و به مأمورین موظف کار ترمیم عبادتگاه خداوند دادم.»
9Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen who have the oversight of the house of Yahweh.”
9بعد اضافه کرده گفت: «این کتابی است که حِلقیا به من داده است.» آنگاه کتاب را برای پادشاه خواند.
10Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Shaphan read it before the king.
10وقتی پادشاه کلمات کتاب تورات را شنید لباس خود را پاره کرد.
11It happened, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he tore his clothes.
11بعد به حِلقیای کاهن، اخیقام، پسر شافان، عَکبور، پسر میکایا، شافان منشی و یکی دیگر از مأمورین خود، بنام عَسایا امر کرده گفت:
12The king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,
12«بروید از طرف من و مردم یهودا در بارۀ تعلیمات این کتاب از خداوند راهنمائی بخواهید، زیرا پدران ما مطابق احکام این کتاب رفتار نکردند، بنابران آتش خشم خداوند بر ما افروخته شد.»
13“Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of Yahweh that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”
13پس حِلقیای کاهن، اخیقام، عَکبور، شافان و عَسایا پیش حُلدۀ نبیه، زن شُلام، پسر تِقوَه، نواسۀ حَرحَس که تحویلدار البسه بود، رفتند. حُلدَه در قسمت دوم شهر اورشلیم سکونت داشت. آن ها منظور آمدن خود را به آنجا برای او بیان کردند.
14So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they talked with her.
14او به آن ها گفت: «پیش پادشاه خود برگردید و به او بگوئید که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل می فرماید: «به آن کسی که شما را فرستاده است خبر بدهید
15She said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,
15که من واقعاً بلائی بر سر اورشلیم و ساکنین آن، قرار نوشتۀ این کتاب که پادشاه یهودا بحضور من قرائت کرد، آوردنی هستم،
16“Thus says Yahweh, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on this place, and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read.
16زیرا آن ها مرا از یاد بردند و برای خدایان بیگانه قربانی کردند. با این کار خود آتش خشم مرا چنان برافروختند که خاموش شدنی نیست.»
17Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it shall not be quenched.’”
17اما در مورد پادشاه یهودا که شما را فرستاد تا از خداوند مشوره و راهنمائی بخواهد به او بگوئید که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل می فرماید: «تو کلام این کتاب را شنیدی،
18But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Yahweh, thus you shall tell him, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: ‘Concerning the words which you have heard,
18و بخاطریکه توبه کردی، سر تواضع خم نمودی، لباست را دریدی و پَی بردی که من این شهر و ساکنین آنرا جزا می دهم و نفرین می کنم،بنابران دعایت را قبول کردم و بلائی را که بر سر اورشلیم می آورم، تا که زنده باشی نخواهی دید، بلکه بعد از وفات تو آن کار را می کنم تا با خاطر جمع و روح آسوده از این جهان بروی.»» آن ها پیام او را به پادشاه رساندند.
19because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you,’ says Yahweh.
19بنابران دعایت را قبول کردم و بلائی را که بر سر اورشلیم می آورم، تا که زنده باشی نخواهی دید، بلکه بعد از وفات تو آن کار را می کنم تا با خاطر جمع و روح آسوده از این جهان بروی.»» آن ها پیام او را به پادشاه رساندند.
20‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, neither shall your eyes see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’”’” They brought back this message to the king.
