1Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him Yahweh had given victory to Syria: he was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
1نعمان، سپه سالار لشکر پادشاه سوریه، مرد بزرگ و شخص معتمد شاه بود، زیرا بخاطر لیاقت و کاردانی او، کشور سوریه به پیروزی های زیادی نایل شده بود. با اینکه او یک شخص دلاور و جنگجو بود، مگر از مرض بَرَص، (یعنی جذام) رنج می برد.
2The Syrians had gone out in bands, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maiden; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
2قوای سوریه در یکی از حملات خود، دختر جوانی را از کشور اسرائیل به اسارت بردند و او خدمتگار زن نعمان شد.
3She said to her mistress, “I wish that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would heal him of his leprosy.”
3او یک روز به خانم نعمان گفت: «کاش آقایم پیش آن نبی که در سامره زندگی می کند، می رفت، زیرا او می تواند آقایم را از مرضی که دارد شفا بدهد.»
4Someone went in, and told his lord, saying, “The maiden who is from the land of Israel said this.”
4بنابران نعمان پیش پادشاه رفت و آنچه را که آن دختر اسرائیلی گفته بود برایش بیان کرد.
5The king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” He departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothing.
5پادشاه به او گفت: «برو و نامه ای هم از جانب من با خود ببر.» پس نعمان ده وزنۀ نقره و شش هزار مثقال طلا و ده دست لباس را با خود گرفته رهسپار سامره شد.
6He brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, “Now when this letter has come to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy.”
6نامه را به پادشاه رساند که مضمونش این بود: «حامل این نامه نعمان، یکی از مأمورین من است که به تو معرفی می کنم، و توقع دارم که او را از مرض جذام شفا بدهی.»
7It happened, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he tore his clothes, and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”
7وقتی پادشاه نامه را خواند، لباس خود را پاره کرد و گفت: «آیا من خدا هستم که اختیار مرگ و زندگی بدستم باشد. پادشاه سوریه فکر می کند که من می توانم این مرد را شفا بدهم. شاید او بهانه ای می جوید تا با من جنگ کند.»
8It was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
8اما وقتی الیشع نبی از ماجرا خبر شد به پادشاه پیام فرستاد و گفت: «چرا غصه می خوری؟ آن مرد را پیش من بفرست و من به او ثابت می کنم که در اسرائیل یک نبی واقعی وجود دارد.»
9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariots, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
9پس نعمان با اسپها و عراده های خود آمد و پیش دروازۀ خانۀ الیشع توقف کرد.
10Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean.”
10الیشع قاصدی را پیش نعمان فرستاد و گفت به او بگو که هفت بار خود را در دریای اُردن بشوید. آنگاه پوست بدنش بحالت عادی برگشته از مرض بکلی شفا خواهد یافت.
11But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’
11ولی نعمان قهر شد و آنجا را ترک کرد و گفت: «من فکر می کردم که او پیش من بیرون می آید و بحضور خداوند، خدای خود دعا می کند و دست خود را بر جای جذام تکان داده مرا شفا می دهد.
12Aren’t Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them, and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
12برعلاوه آیا آب ابانه و فَرفَر، دو دریای دمشق، بهتر از آب همه دریاهای اسرائیل نیست؟» بنابراین، با قهر و غضب براه خود رفت.
13His servants came near, and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had asked you do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean?’”
13اما خادمانش پیش او آمدند و گفتند: «اگر آن نبی به تو کار مشکلی را پیشنهاد می کرد آیا تو نمی پذیرفتی؟ در حالیکه او راه آسانی را بتو نشان داد و تنها گفت که برو خود را بشوی و شفا می یابی.»
14Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
14پس نعمان رفت و قرار هدایت الیشع هفت بار در دریای اُردن غوطه ور شد. آنگاه گوشت بدنش مثل گوشت یک طفل کوچک برگشته پاک و سالم شد.
15He returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him; and he said, “See now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel. Now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”
15بعد نعمان با تمام همراهان خود پیش الیشع برگشت. در برابر او ایستاد و گفت: «حالا می دانم که در تمام روی زمین بغیر از خدای اسرائیل خدای دیگری وجود ندارد. پس از تو خواهش می کنم که تحفۀ این خدمتگارت را قبول کنی.»
16But he said, “As Yahweh lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none.” He urged him to take it; but he refused.
16اما الیشع گفت: «بنام خداوند که من بندۀ او هستم قسم است که هیچ تحفه ای را از تو قبول نمی کنم.»
17Naaman said, “If not, then, please let two mules’ burden of earth be given to your servant; for your servant will from now on offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to Yahweh.
17نعمان گفت: «اگر تحفۀ مرا نمی پذیری، اقلاً اجازه بده که دو بار قاطر از خاک اینجا را با خود ببرم، زیرا بعد از این بجز برای خداوند، برای هیچ خدای دیگر قربانی سوختنی و هدیه تقدیم نمی کنم.
18In this thing may Yahweh pardon your servant: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon. When I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, may Yahweh pardon your servant in this thing.”
18اما امیدوارم که خداوند مرا ببخشد، زیرا وقتی پادشاه به معبد رِمون برای پرستش می رود من او را همراهی می کنم و او در وقت عبادت ببازوی من تکیه می کند. باز هم دعا می کنم که خداوند مرا بخاطر این کار ببخشد.»
19He said to him, “Go in peace.” So he departed from him a little way.
19الیشع به او گفت: «به سلامتی برو.»اما وقتی نعمان کمی از آنجا دور شد
20But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Behold, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought. As Yahweh lives, I will run after him, and take something from him.”
20جیحزی، خادم الیشع با خود گفت: «آقای من هدیه ای را که نعمان برایش می داد نگرفت و به او اجازه داد که مفت و رایگان برود. اما به خداوند قسم است که من می روم و یک چیزی از او می گیرم.»
21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him, and said, “Is all well?”
21پس جیحزی بدنبال نعمان رفت. وقتی نعمان دید که شخصی از عقب او می دود، برای ملاقات او از عرادۀ خود پیاده شد و گفت: «خیریت است؟»
22He said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Behold, even now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’”
22او جواب داد: «بلی، خیریت است، اما آقایم مرا فرستاد تا به تو بگویم که دو نفر نبی از کوهستان افرایم پیش او آمدند، بنابراین، از تو خواهش می کند که یک وزنۀ نقره و دو دست لباس برای شان بدهی.»
23Naaman said, “Be pleased to take two talents.” He urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing, and laid them on two of his servants; and they carried them before him.
23نعمان گفت: «من بتو دو وزنۀ نقره می دهم، لطفاً آنرا قبول کن.» او بسیار اصرار کرد و بعد وزنه های نقره را در دو خریطه انداخت و با دو دست لباس به دو نفر از خادمان خود داد تا آن ها را پیشاپیش جیحزی حمل کنند.
24When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and stored them in the house. Then he let the men go, and they departed.
24وقتی به تپۀ جای اقامت الیشع رسید خریطه ها را از آن ها گرفت و در خانه گذاشت و خادمان نعمان را مرخص کرد و آن ها براه خود رفتند.
25But he went in, and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you come from, Gehazi?” He said, “Your servant went nowhere.”
25بعد داخل شد و در برابر آقای خود ایستاد. الیشع پرسید: «جیحزی، کجا رفته بودی؟» او جواب داد: «من جائی نرفته بودم.»
26He said to him, “Didn’t my heart go with you, when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants?
26الیشع به او گفت: «آیا نفهمیدی که وقتی نعمان برای استقبالت از عرادۀ خود پیاده شد روح من هم در آنجا بود؟ حالا وقت آن نیست که از کسی پول، لباس، باغ زیتون، تاکستان، گوسفند، گاو، کنیز و یا غلام قبول کنی.پس تو به مرضی که نعمان داشت مبتلا می شوی و تو و اولاده ات برای همیشه از آن مرض رنج خواهید برد.» بنابران جیحزی دفعتاً به مرض جذام مبتلا شد و با پوست سفید مثل برف از حضور او رفت.
27Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your seed forever.” He went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.
27پس تو به مرضی که نعمان داشت مبتلا می شوی و تو و اولاده ات برای همیشه از آن مرض رنج خواهید برد.» بنابران جیحزی دفعتاً به مرض جذام مبتلا شد و با پوست سفید مثل برف از حضور او رفت.
