¹The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

¹تِیوفیلوس عزیزم، من در اولین رساله خود دربارۀ تمام اعمال و تعالیم عیسی از ابتدا

²until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

²تا روزیکه بوسیله روح القدس اوامر لازم را به رسولان برگزیدۀ خود داد و به آسمان برده شد به تو نوشتم:

³To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God’s Kingdom.

³او پس از مرگ، با دلایل بسیار، خود را به این کسان زنده نشان داد و مدت چهل روز بار ها به ایشان ظاهر شد و دربارۀ پادشاهی خدا با آن ها صحبت کرد.

⁴Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

⁴وقتی او هنوز در بین آنها بود به ایشان گفت: «اورشلیم را ترک نکنید بلکه در انتظار آن وعدۀ پدر، که در خصوص آن به شما گفته بودم، باشید.

⁵ For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

⁵یحیی با آب تعمید می داد اما بعد از چند روز شما با روح القدس تعمید خواهید یافت.»

⁶Therefore when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

⁶پس هنگامی که همه دور هم جمع بودند از او پرسیدند: «خداوندا، آیا وقت آن رسیده است که تو بار دیگر سلطنت را به اسرائیل بازگردانی؟»

⁷He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.

⁷عیسی جواب داد: «برای شما لزومی ندارد که تاریخ ها و زمان هایی را که پدر در اختیار خود نگه داشته است، بدانید.

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

⁸اما وقتی روح القدس بر شما نازل شود قدرت خواهید یافت و در اورشلیم و تمام یهودیه و سامره و تا دورافتاده ترین نقاط دنیا شاهدان من خواهید بود.»

⁹When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

⁹همینکه عیسی این را گفت، در حالیکه همه می دیدند، بالا برده شد و ابری او را از نظر ایشان ناپدید ساخت.

¹⁰While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing,

¹⁰هنگامی که او می رفت و چشمان آنها هنوز به آسمان دوخته شده بود دو مرد سفید پوش در کنار آنها ایستادند

¹¹who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”

¹¹و پرسیدند: «ای مردان جلیلی، چرا اینجا ایستاده اید و به آسمان می بینید؟ همین عیسی که از پیش شما به آسمان بالا برده شد، همانطوریکه بالا رفت و شما دیدید، دوباره به همین طریق باز خواهد گشت.»

¹²Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

¹²آنگاه شاگردان از کوه زیتون، که فاصلۀ آن تا اورشلیم فقط یک کیلومتر است، به اورشلیم بازگشتند.

¹³When they had come in, they went up into the upper room, where they were staying; that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

¹³همینکه به شهر داخل شدند به بالاخانه ای که محل اقامت آن ها بود رفتند. پِترُس و یوحنا، یعقوب و اَندریاس، فیلیپُس و توما، بَرتولما و متی، یعقوب پسر حَلفی و شمعون فدایی و یهودا پسر یعقوب در آنجا بودند.

¹⁴All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

¹⁴اینها همه با زنان و مریم مادر عیسی و برادران او با یکدل دور هم جمع می شدند تا وقت خود را صرف دعا نمایند.

¹⁵In these days, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (and the number of names was about one hundred twenty), and said,

¹⁵در آن روز ها پِترُس در برابر برادران که عده آنها تقریباً یکصد و بیست نفر بود ایستاد و گفت:

¹⁶“Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.

¹⁶«ای برادران پیشگویی که روح القدس به زبان داود نموده است لازم بود در مورد یهودا رهنمای دستگیر کنندگان عیسی تمام شود،

¹⁷For he was numbered with us, and received his portion in this ministry.

¹⁷زیرا او یکی از ما بود و در خدمت ما شرکت داشت.

¹⁸Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.

¹⁸او با پولی که از بابت اجرت شرارت خود دریافت نمود، قطعه زمینی خرید و در آن با سر سقوط کرد و از میان پاره شد و تمام روده هایش بیرون ریخت

¹⁹It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called ‘Akeldama,’ that is, ‘The field of blood.’

¹⁹و این امر به اطلاع جمیع ساکنان اورشلیم رسید و آن قطعه زمین را به زبان خود شان «حَقَل دَما» ـ یعنی زمین خون ـ نامیدند.»

²⁰For it is written in the book of Psalms, ‘Let his habitation be made desolate. Let no one dwell therein;’ Psalm 69:25 and, ‘Let another take his office.’ Psalm 109:8

²⁰پِترُس ادامه داد و گفت: «زیرا در کتاب زبور نوشته شده است: «خانۀ او ویران باد و دیگر کسی در آن ساکن نشود.» و همچنین آمده است: «خدمتش نیز به دیگری سپرده شود.»

²¹“Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

²¹بنابر این یکنفر که پیوسته در تمام مدتی که عیسی خداوند با ما نشست و برخاست داشت،

²²beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”

²²یعنی از روزی که یحیی به تعمید در آب پرداخت تا روزیکه عیسی از میان ما بالا برده شد، در میان ما با ما بوده باید به عنوان شاهد بر رستاخیز او به جمع ما بپیوندد.»

²³They put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

²³آنگاه نام دو نفر را که یکی یوسف معروف به بَرسابا (که لقب یوستوس هم داشت) و دیگری مَتیاس بود، برای این خدمت پیشنهاد کردند

²⁴They prayed, and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen

²⁴و دعا کرده گفتند: «ای خداوندیکه از قلوب همه انسانها آگاهی، به ما نشان بده که کدامیک از این دو نفر را انتخاب کرده ای

²⁵to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.”

²⁵که جانشین یهودا بشود؛ زیرا که او سِمَت خدمت و رسالت خود را از دست داد تا به جائیکه سرنوشت او بود برود.»پس قرعه انداختند و قرعه به نام مَتیاس اصابت کرد و به این ترتیب او در شمار آن یازده رسول درآمد.

²⁶They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
