¹Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

¹در شهر قیصریه صاحب منصبی بنام کُرنیلیوس زندگی می کرد که جزو یک فرقۀ رومی به نام فرقۀ ایتالیائی بود.

²a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.

²او مردی بود پرهیزکار و خانواده ای خدا ترس داشت و پیوسته به درگاه خدا دعا می کرد و به بینوایان اسرائیلی صدقه می داد.

³At about the ninth hour of the day 3:00 PM , he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

³این مرد یک روز در حدود ساعت سه بعد از ظهر فرشته خدا را آشکارا در حالت جذبه دید که پیش او آمده گفت: «ای کُرنیلیوس.»

⁴He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.

⁴کُرنیلیوس با ترس به او چشم دوخت و جواب داد: «خداوندا چه می فرمایی؟» فرشته گفت: «بدان که دعاها و همه صدقات تو در بالا در پیشگاه خدا مورد قبول و تذکر واقع شده اند.

⁵Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is surnamed Peter.

⁵اکنون کسانی را به یافا بفرست و سراغ شمعون ملقب به پِترُس را بگیر.

⁶He lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside. TR adds “This one will tell you what it is necessary for you to do.” ”

⁶او نزد شمعونِ چرمگر که در ساحل بحیره منزل دارد، مهمان است.»

⁷When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.

⁷همینکه فرشته ای که با او صحبت می کرد ناپدید شد، کُرنیلیوس دو نفر از نوکران خود و یک عسکر دیندار را که در خدمت او بود خواست و

⁸Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

⁸موضوع را تماماً برای آن ها شرح داد و ایشان را به یافا فرستاد.

⁹Now on the next day as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.

⁹روز بعد که آنها در راه بودند و تا شهر فاصله کمی داشتند، پِترُس نزدیک ظهر برای دعا به بالای بام رفت.

¹⁰He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.

¹⁰در آنجا گرسنه شد و خواست چیزی بخورد. اما وقتی که برایش غذا آماده می کردند، حالت جذبه ای به او دست داد

¹¹He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,

¹¹و در آن حال آسمان را باز شده و چیزی مانند یک دسترخوان کلان را دید که از چهار گوشه آویزان شده بود و رو به پائین به طرف زمین می آمد.

¹²in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.

¹²در آن انواع چهارپایان و خزندگان و پرندگان وجود داشت.

¹³A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”

¹³صدائی به گوشش رسید که می گفت: «ای پِترُس برخیز، ذبح کن و بخور.»

¹⁴But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”

¹⁴پِترُس در جواب گفت: «نخیر ای خداوند، زیرا من هرگز به چیزی حرام یا نجس لب نزده ام.»

¹⁵A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”

¹⁵بار دوم همان صدا آمد که: «آنچه را خدا پاک کرده است، تو نباید نجس بخوانی.»

¹⁶This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.

¹⁶این موضوع سه بار تکرار شد و آخر آن دسترخوان به آسمان برده شد.

¹⁷Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,

¹⁷در همان وقت که پِترُس از معنی رؤیای خود در مانده بود و کوشش می کرد آنرا برای خود تجزیه و تحلیل نماید، فرستادگان کُرنیلیوس جستجو کنان به در خانۀ شمعون رسیدند.

¹⁸and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.

¹⁸و فریاد می زدند و می پرسیدند: «آیا شمعونِ ملقب به پِترُس در اینجا مهمان است؟»

¹⁹While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three Reading from TR and NU. MT omits “three” men seek you.

¹⁹در حالی که پِترُس دربارۀ این رؤیا تفکر می کرد، روح خدا به او گفت: «ببین، چند نفر به سراغ تو آمده اند

²⁰But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”

²⁰برخیز، پایئن برو و در رفتن با ایشان تردید نکن، زیرا من آن ها را فرستاده ام.»

²¹Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”

²¹پِترُس پائین رفت و به آنها گفت: «من همان کسی هستم که بدنبال او می گردید. برای چه آمده اید؟»

²²They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”

²²آن ها جواب دادند: «کُرنیلیوسِ صاحب منصب که شخص نیکوکار و خدا ترس است و پیش همه یهودیان نیک نام می باشد، از فرشتۀ مقدسی امر یافت که ما را به اینجا بفرستد و ترا به خانه خود دعوت کند تا به هر پیامی که داری گوش دهد.»

²³So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.

²³پس پِترُس آنها را به خانه آورد و از ایشان پذیرائی نمود. روز بعد با ایشان به راه افتاد و چند نفر از برادران یافایی با آنها همراه بودند.

²⁴On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.

²⁴فردای آنروز به قیصریه رسیدند. کُرنیلیوس که از خویشاوندان و دوستان نزدیک خود دعوت کرده بود، چشم به راه ایشان بود.

²⁵When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.

²⁵وقتی پِترُس می خواست داخل خانه شود، کُرنیلیوس پیش رفت و پیش او به خاک افتاد.

²⁶But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”

²⁶اما پِترُس او را از زمین بلند کرد و گفت: «برخیز من هم مانند تو انسانم.»

²⁷As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.

²⁷سپس با هم، صحبت کنان داخل خانه شدند. پِترُس در آنجا با عده زیادی روبرو شد

²⁸He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.

²⁸و به آنها گفت: «این را بخوبی می دانید که جایز نیست یک نفر یهودی با بیگانگان معاشرت یا همنشینی نماید. اما خدا به من نشان داده است که من نباید هیچکس را نجس یا ناپاک بدانم.

²⁹Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”

²⁹پس وقتی دنبال من فرستادید، بدون چون و چرا آمدم. تنها سؤالی که دارم این است که برای چه به دنبال من فرستادید؟»

³⁰Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, 3:00 P. M. I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

³⁰کُرنیلیوس در جواب گفت: «چهار روز پیش درست در همین وقت یعنی ساعت سه بعد از ظهر من در خانۀ خود به دعا مشغول بودم که ناگاه مردی در لباس نورانی به من ظاهر شد

³¹and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.

³¹و گفت: «ای کُرنیلیوس، دعاهایت مستجاب شده و صدقاتی که به فقرا می دهی در پیشگاه خدا منظور شده است.

³²Send therefore to Joppa, and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’

³²بنا براین کسی را به شهر یافا بفرست و شمعونِ ملقب به پِترُس را به اینجا دعوت کن. او در خانه شمعون چرمگر که در ساحل بحیره واقع است، مهمان است.»

³³Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”

³³پس فوراً این اشخاص را پیش تو فرستادم و تو لطف فرموده به اینجا آمدی. اکنون همۀ ما در حضور خدا گرد آمده ایم تا به آن چیزهایی که خداوند به تو امر کرده است گوش دهیم.»

³⁴Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;

³⁴پس پِترُس سخنان خود را شروع کرده گفت: «من به این حقیقت پی برده ام که خدا بین انسانها فرقی نمی گذارد

³⁵but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

³⁵و هر کس از هر ملت که خدا ترس و نیکوکار باشد، مقبول خداست.

³⁶The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—

³⁶خدا پیام خود را به قوم اسرائیل فرستاد و به این طریق مژدۀ صلح و سلامتی را به وسیلۀ عیسی مسیح که خداوند همه است، ابلاغ فرمود.

³⁷you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

³⁷شما خود تان از اتفاق بزرگی که در سرتاسر یهودیه روی داد، با خبر هستید و می دانید همۀ این چیز ها بعد از اعلام تعمید یحیی، از جلیل شروع شد.

³⁸even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

³⁸خدا، عیسی ناصری را با روح القدس و قدرت خود مسح کرد و می دانید چگونه عیسی به همه جا می رفت و اعمال نیک انجام می داد و همه کسانی را که در بندگی شیطان به سر می بردند رهایی می بخشید زیرا خدا با او بود.

³⁹We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also TR omits “also” killed, hanging him on a tree.

³⁹ما شاهدان همۀ آن اعمالی هستیم که او در سرزمین یهودیان و در اورشلیم انجام داد. آنها او را به صلیب میخکوب کرده کشتند.

⁴⁰God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,

⁴⁰اما خدا در روز سوم او را زنده کرد و بسیاری او را دیدند،

⁴¹not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

⁴¹اما نه همۀ قوم اسرائیل بلکه شاهدانی که خدا قبلاً برگزیده بود، او را دیدند؛ یعنی ما که پس از رستاخیز او با او می خوردیم و می نوشیدیم.

⁴²He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.

⁴²او به ما فرمان داد که به آن قوم اعلام کنیم و به این حقیقت شهادت دهیم که خدا او را داور زندگان و مردگان قرار داده است.

⁴³All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”

⁴³تمام انبیاء به او شهادت می دهند که هر کسی به او ایمان آورد، به وسیلۀ نام او گناهانش آمرزیده می شود.»

⁴⁴While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

⁴⁴پِترُس هنوز صحبت می کرد که روح القدس بر همه شنوندگان نازل شد

⁴⁵They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.

⁴⁵و مؤمنان یهودی نژاد که همراه پِترُس آمده بودند از اینکه بخشش روح القدس به غیر یهودیان نیز ریخته شده بود، دچار حیرت شدند.

⁴⁶For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,

⁴⁶زیرا می شنیدند که به زبانها صحبت می کنند و خدا را تمجید می نمایند. آنگاه پِترُس گفت:

⁴⁷“Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized?”

⁴⁷«آیا کسی می تواند مانع از تعمید این اشخاص در آب بشود؟ مگر نه این است، که ایشان هم مانند ما روح القدس را یافته اند؟»پس امر کرد ایشان را به نام عیسی مسیح تعمید دهند. سپس آن ها از پِترُس تقاضا کردند چند روزی پیش ایشان بماند.

⁴⁸He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.

⁴⁸پس امر کرد ایشان را به نام عیسی مسیح تعمید دهند. سپس آن ها از پِترُس تقاضا کردند چند روزی پیش ایشان بماند.
