¹Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can’t be saved.”

¹عده ای از یهودیه به انطاکیه آمده بودند و برادرن را تعلیم داده می گفتند: «تا مطابق سنت موسی ختنه نشوید، نجات یافتن برای تان محال است.»

²Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.

²پس از مناظره و مباحثه بسیار بین آنها از یک طرف پولُس و برنابا از طرف دیگر، قرار بر این شد، که پولُس و برنابا و چند نفر دیگر برای تحقیق دربارۀ این مسئله به اورشلیم پیش رسولان و رهبران کلیسا بروند.

³They, being sent on their way by the assembly, passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles. They caused great joy to all the brothers. The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

³اعضای کلیسا ایشان را بدرقه نمودند و در حالیکه از فنیقیه و سامره عبور می کردند، همه جا مژدۀ ایمان آوردن ملت های غیر یهود را ابلاغ می نمودند و این خبر موجب خوشی زیاد تمام ایمانداران شد.

⁴When they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all things that God had done with them.

⁴هنگامی که به اورشلیم رسیدند، کلیسا و رسولان و رهبران با آغوش باز از ایشان استقبال کردند و آنها کارهایی را که خدا به واسطۀ ایشان انجام داده بود بیان کردند.

⁵But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”

⁵در این موقع بعضی از فریسی ها که ایمان آورده بودند برخاستند و گفتند: «لازم است ایشان سنت شوند و به آنها امر کرده شود که شریعت موسی را رعایت نمایند.»

⁶The apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.

⁶رسولان و رهبران برای رسیدگی به این مسئله انجمنی تشکیل دادند.

⁷When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News, and believe.

⁷پس از بحث بسیار، پِترُس برخاست و خطاب به ایشان گفت: «ای برادران، شما می دانید که مدتها پیش خدا مرا از میان شما برگزید تا غیر یهودیان مژدۀ نجات را از زبان من بشنوند و ایمان آورند.

⁸God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.

⁸خدا که از قلب ها آگاه است، این کار را با عطای روح القدس به آنها به همان طریقی که به خود ما عطا فرمود، تأیید کرد

⁹He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

⁹و هیچ فرقی بین ما و آنها قایل نشد، بلکه قلب آنها را با ایمان پاک ساخت.

¹⁰Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

¹⁰پس حالا چرا می خواهید خدا را بیازمائید و باری بر دوش این مؤمنین بگذارید، باری که نه پدران ما قدرت تحمل آنرا داشتند و نه ما؟

¹¹But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, TR adds “Christ” just as they are.”

¹¹بلکه بر عکس، ما از راه فیض عیسی خداوند، ایمان می آوریم و نجات می یابیم و آن ها هم همین طور.»

¹²All the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting what signs and wonders God had done among the nations through them.

¹²بدنبال سخنان پِترُس همه خاموش ماندند و به گزارش برنابا و پولُس در مورد عجایب و معجزاتی که خدا بوسیلۀ ایشان در میان غیر یهودیان انجام داده بود گوش می دادند.

¹³After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.

¹³همینکه سخنان آنها تمام شد یعقوب گفت: «ای برادران، توجه فرمائید،

¹⁴Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations, to take out of them a people for his name.

¹⁴شمعون برای ما شرح داد که چگونه خدا در ابتدا قومی را از میان اقوام جهان برگزید تا فقط به او متعلق باشند و به این وسیله علاقه خود را به تمام ملتها نشان داد.

¹⁵This agrees with the words of the prophets. As it is written,

¹⁵این مطابق سخن پیغمبران است، چنانکه کلام خدا می فرماید:

¹⁶‘After these things I will return. I will again build the tabernacle of David, which has fallen. I will again build its ruins. I will set it up,

¹⁶«بعد از این باز می گردم و خانه ویران داود را از نو می سازم و خرابی های آن را بار دیگر آباد می گردانم و آن را بر پا خواهم کرد

¹⁷That the rest of men may seek after the Lord; All the Gentiles who are called by my name, Says the Lord, who does all these things. Amos 9:11-12

¹⁷تا بقیۀ بنی نوع بشر طالب خداوند گردند، یعنی جمیع ملتهای که نام خود را بر آن ها نهاده ام،

¹⁸این است آنچه خداوند می گوید، خداوندی که این چیزها را از زمانهای قدیم آشکار کرده است.»

¹⁹“Therefore my judgment is that we don’t trouble those from among the Gentiles who turn to God,

¹⁹بنابر این رأی من این است که غیر یهودیانی را که به سوی خدا آمده اند، دچار زحمت نسازیم.

²⁰but that we write to them that they abstain from the pollution of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.

²⁰جز اینکه کتباً به ایشان امر کنیم که از خوردن گوشتی که در اثر تقدیم شدن به بتها ناپاک و نجس شده است و از زنا و خوردن حیوانات خفه شده و همچنین خوردن خون بپرهیزند.

²¹For Moses from generations of old has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

²¹چون شریعت موسی از زمانهای قدیم در هر روز عبادت در کنیسه ها خوانده و تعالیم او در تمام شهرها موعظه می شود.»

²²Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brothers. The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

²²پس رسولان و رهبران با تمام اعضای کلیسا موافقت کردند که کسانی از میان خود انتخاب کنند و همراه پولُس و برنابا به انطاکیه بفرستند. ایشان یهودای ملقب به بَرسابا و سیلاس را که از افراد برجسته در میان برادران بودند، انتخاب کردند

²³They wrote these things by their hand: “The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: greetings.

²³و نامۀ خود را به این مضمون بوسیلۀ ایشان ارسال داشتند: «برادران شما، یعنی رسولان و رهبران، به برادران غیر یهودی مقیم انطاکیه و سوریه و قیلیقیه سلام می رسانند.

²⁴Because we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law,’ to whom we gave no commandment;

²⁴به ما خبر رسیده است، که بعضی از افراد ما بدون اینکه امری داشته باشند، با سخنان خود شما را دچار تشویش کرده و افکار تان را پریشان ساخته اند.

²⁵it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

²⁵بنابراین همه ما با یکدل تصمیم گرفتیم چند نفر را انتخاب نمائیم و به همراه عزیزان خود برنابا و پولُس

²⁶men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁶که جان خود را به خاطر خدمت خداوند ما عیسی مسیح به خطر انداخته اند، پیش شما بفرستیم.

²⁷We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves will also tell you the same things by word of mouth.

²⁷بنابراین یهودا و سیلاس را فرستادیم تا شفاهاً همان چیزها را برای تان بیان کنند.

²⁸For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:

²⁸رأی روح القدس و ما این است، که جز اوامری که در زیر می آید، بار شما را سنگینتر نسازیم

²⁹that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell.”

²⁹و آن این است که از هر چه برای بتها قربانی شده و از خون و حیوانات خفه شده و زنا دوری جوئید. چنانچه از این چیزها پرهیز کنید کار نیکوئی انجام داده اید، والسلام.»

³⁰So, when they were sent off, they came to Antioch. Having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter.

³⁰وقتی آن ها آنجا را ترک کردند به انطاکیه رفتند و همین که جماعت ایمانداران را جمع کردند، آن نامه را به آن ها دادند.

³¹When they had read it, they rejoiced over the encouragement.

³¹وقتی نامه خوانده شد، جمعیت از آن پیغام دلگرم کننده شادمان شدند

³²Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged the brothers with many words, and strengthened them.

³²و یهودا و سیلاس که نبی بودند با سخنان بسیار آن جماعت را تشویق و تقویت کردند.

³³After they had spent some time there, they were sent back with greetings from the brothers to the apostles.

³³پس از آنکه مدتی در آنجا ماندند، توسط ایمانداران به سلامتی به سوی فرستندگان خود برگشتند.

³⁴ Some manuscripts add: But it seemed good to Silas to stay there.

³⁴اما پولُس و برنابا در انطاکیه ماندند

³⁵But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

³⁵و به همراه عدۀ زیادی به تعلیم و بیان پیام خدا مشغول بودند.

³⁶After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return now and visit our brothers in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”

³⁶بعد از چند روز پولُس به برنابا گفت: «به شهرهایی که پیام خداوند را اعلام کرده ایم برویم و از برادرانی که نو ایمان آورده اند دیدن نمائیم تا از حال شان با خبر شویم.»

³⁷Barnabas planned to take John, who was called Mark, with them also.

³⁷برنابا می خواست، یوحنای ملقب به مرقُس را به همراه خود ببرند.

³⁸But Paul didn’t think that it was a good idea to take with them someone who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia, and didn’t go with them to do the work.

³⁸اما پولُس عقیده داشت که نباید کسی را که در پمفیلیه ایشان را ترک کرده و تا پایان کار همراه ایشان نمانده بود، بار دیگر با خود ببرند.

³⁹Then the contention grew so sharp that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him, and sailed away to Cyprus,

³⁹مشاجره آنها چنان سخت شد، که از یکدیگر جدا شدند و در نتیجه برنابا، مرقُس را برداشت و از راه بحر به قبرس رفت

⁴⁰but Paul chose Silas, and went out, being commended by the brothers to the grace of God.

⁴⁰و پولُس، سیلاس را انتخاب کرد و پس از اینکه توسط ایمانداران به فیض خدا سپرده شد، حرکت کرداو در عبور از ولایت سوریه و قیلیقیه، کلیساها را تقویت می کرد.

⁴¹He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the assemblies.

⁴¹او در عبور از ولایت سوریه و قیلیقیه، کلیساها را تقویت می کرد.
