¹It happened in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

¹در شهر قونیه نیز پولُس و برنابا به کنیسه یهود وارد شدند و چنان صحبت کردند، که گروه زیادی از یهودیان و یونانیان ایمان آوردند.

²But the disbelieving or, disobedient Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.

²اما یهودیانی که ایمان نیاورده بودند، غیر یهودیان را تحریک کردند و افکار آنها را نسبت به این برادران منحرف ساختند.

³Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

³آن دو مدت زیادی در آن شهر ماندند و بدون ترس دربارۀ خداوند سخن می گفتند. خداوند نیز با اعطای قدرت به آن ها برای انجام عجایب و معجزات، پیام فیض بخش خود را تصدیق می فرمود.

⁴But the multitude of the city was divided. Part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

⁴اما بین مردم شهر دودستگی افتاد، عده ای طرفدار یهودیان شدند و عده ای طرف رسولان را گرفتند.

⁵When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them,

⁵در این وقت یهودیان و غیر یهودیان با همدستی اولیای امور تصمیم گرفته بودند به رسولان آزار برسانند و آنها را سنگسار نمایند.

⁶they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.

⁶وقتی که رسولان از این موضوع آگاه شدند، به سوی شهرهای لیکائونیه یعنی لِستره و دربه و ناحیه مجاور فرار کردند

⁷There they preached the Good News.

⁷و در آنجا به بشارت نجات ادامه دادند.

⁸At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked.

⁸در شهر لِستره مرد مفلوجی نشسته بود که لنگ مادرزاد بود و هرگز با پاهای خود راه نرفته بود.

⁹He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

⁹او به سخنان پولُس گوش می داد. پولُس به طرف او دید و چون دید ایمان آنرا دارد که شفا یابد،

¹⁰said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked.

¹⁰با صدای بلند به او گفت: «برخیز و راست روی پاهای خود بایست.» او جست زد و به راه رفتن شد.

¹¹When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”

¹¹وقتی مردم کاری را که پولُس کرد دیدند، به زبان آن محل فریاد زدند: «خدایان به صورت انسان در میان ما فرود آمده اند.»

¹²They called Barnabas “Jupiter,” and Paul “Mercury,” because he was the chief speaker.

¹²برنابا را مشتری و پولُس را عطارد خواندند. (پولُس را از آن جهت عطارد خواندند که سخنگوی آنها بود.)

¹³The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes.

¹³آنگاه کاهن معبد مشتری که معبدش در خارج شهر واقع بود گاوانی با حلقه های گل به دروازه شهر آورد و می خواست به همراهی جماعت گاوان را قربانی کند.

¹⁴But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes, and sprang into the multitude, crying out,

¹⁴اما هنگامیکه آن دو رسول یعنی برنابا و پولُس از این امر با خبر شدند لباسهای خود را دریدند و به میان مردم رفته فریاد می کردند:

¹⁵“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;

¹⁵«ای آقایان، چه می کنید؟ ما هم مثل شما انسان هستیم، با عواطف و احساساتی مانند خود شما. ما برای شما مژده ای داریم که از این اعمال بی فایده دور شوید و به خدای زنده ای که آسمان و زمین و دریا و آنچه را که در آنهاست آفریده است، روی آورید.

¹⁶who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.

¹⁶در دوران گذشته او اجازه داد که جمیع ملتها به راههای خود بروند.

¹⁷Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you TR reads “us” instead of “you” rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

¹⁷در عین حال اعمال نیک او همیشه وجودش را ثابت نموده است. او به شما از آسمان باران و محصول به موقع عطا می کند، به شما غذا می دهد و دلهای تان را از شادمانی پُر می سازد.»

¹⁸Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them.

¹⁸رسولان با این سخنان به سختی توانستند مردم را از قربانی کردن برای ایشان جلوگیری کنند.

¹⁹But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

¹⁹در این هنگام یهودیان از انطاکیه و قونیه رسیدند و مردم را پشتیبان خود ساخته پولُس را سنگسار کردند و به گمان اینکه مرده است او را از شهر بیرون کشیدند.

²⁰But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.

²⁰اما وقتی شاگردان دور او جمع شدند او برخاست و به داخل شهر آمد و روز بعد به همراهی برنابا به دربه رفت.

²¹When they had preached the Good News to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

²¹پس از اینکه در آن شهر هم بشارت دادند و پیروان بسیاری یافتند، به لِستره و قونیه و انطاکیه بازگشتند

²²confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God.

²²و در بین راه شاگردان را تقویت می کردند و آنها را تشویق می نمودند که در ایمان خود پایدار بمانند و به آنها می گفتند: «برای داخل شدن به پادشاهی خدا ما باید از راه های بسیار سختی بگذریم.»

²³When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

²³در هر یک از کلیسا ها رهبرانی را تعیین کردند و با دعا و روزه ایشان را به دست آن خداوندی که به او گرویده بودند، سپردند.

²⁴They passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.

²⁴سپس از سرزمین پیسیدیه گذشتند و به سرزمین پمفیلیه رسیدند.

²⁵When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

²⁵وقتی پیام را در پرجه هم اعلام کردند به اتالیه وارد شدند

²⁶From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

²⁶و از آنجا با کشتی بسوی انطاکیه رفتند یعنی همان جائی که به خاطر خدمتی که انجام داده بودند، به فیض خدا سپرده شده بودند.

²⁷When they had arrived, and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.

²⁷وقتی به آنجا رسیدند، اعضای کلیسا را جمع کردند و ایشان را از هر چه خدا به واسطۀ آنها انجام داده بود، خبر دادند و نیز گفتند که چگونه خدا راه ایمان را به روی مردم غیر یهود باز کرده استو در آنجا مدتی پیش شاگردان ماندند.

²⁸They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.

²⁸و در آنجا مدتی پیش شاگردان ماندند.
