¹As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them,

¹هنوز سخن ایشان با قوم به پایان نرسیده بود که کاهنان همراه فرمانده محافظین عبادتگاه و پیروان فرقۀ صدوقی بر سر آنها ریختند.

²being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

²آنها از اینکه شاگردان، قوم را تعلیم می دادند و به اتکاء رستاخیز عیسی، رستاخیز مردگان را اعلام می کردند، سخت ناراحت شده بودند.

³They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening.

³پس پِترُس و یوحنا را گرفتند و چون شام بود تا روز بعد ایشان را در زندان نگه داشتند،

⁴But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

⁴اما بسیاری از کسانیکه آن پیام را شنیده بودند ایمان آوردند و تعداد مردان ایشان تقریباً به پنج هزار نفر رسید.

⁵It happened in the morning, that their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.

⁵روز بعد، رهبران یهود و بزرگان و علمای دین در اورشلیم جلسه ای تشکیل دادند.

⁶Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest.

⁶حناس کاهن اعظم و قیافا و یوحنا و اسکندر و همه اعضای خانواده کاهن اعظم حضور داشتند.

⁷When they had stood them in the middle of them, they inquired, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”

⁷رسولان را خواستند و از آنها سؤال نمودند: «با چه قدرت و به چه نامی اینکار را کرده اید؟»

⁸Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

⁸پِترُس پُر از روح القدس جواب داد: «ای سران قوم و ای بزرگان اسرائیل،

⁹if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,

⁹اگر امروز به خاطر عمل نیکویی که در مورد یک مرد ناتوان انجام شد از ما بازپرسی می کنید و می خواهید بدانید که او به چه وسیله شفا یافت،

¹⁰be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole.

¹⁰همۀ شما و همۀ قوم اسرائیل بدانند که به نام عیسی مسیح ناصری که شما او را روی صلیب کشتید و خدا او را زنده گردانید، بلی بنام او امروز در حضور همۀ شما این مرد قوی و تندرست ایستاده است.

¹¹He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’ Psalm 118:22

¹¹این همان سنگی است که شما بنایان آنرا خوار شمردید و رد کردید، ولی اکنون سنگ اصلی بنا شده است.

¹²There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

¹²در هیچکس دیگر، رستگاری نیست و در زیر آسمان هیچ نامی جز نام عیسی به مردم عطا نشده است تا به وسیلۀ آن نجات یابیم.»

¹³Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.

¹³وقتی آنها جسارت پِترُس و یوحنا را مشاهده کردند و فهمیدند که مردان درس نخوانده و معمولی هستند متعجب شدند و دانستند که از یاران عیسی بوده اند.

¹⁴Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

¹⁴وقتی شخص شفا یافته را همراه پِترُس و یوحنا دیدند نتوانستند گفتار آنها را رد کنند.

¹⁵But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

¹⁵پس به ایشان امر کردند که از شورا بیرون بروند و سپس دربارۀ این موضوع مشغول بحث شدند

¹⁶saying, “What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.

¹⁶و گفتند: «با این مردان چه کنیم؟ چون همه ساکنان اورشلیم می دانند که معجزه ای چشمگیر بوسیلۀ ایشان انجام شده است و ما نمی توانیم منکر آن بشویم.

¹⁷But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”

¹⁷اما برای اینکه این جریان در میان قوم بیش از این شایع نشود به آن ها اخطار کنیم که دیگر دربارۀ عیسی با کسی سخن نگویند.»

¹⁸They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁸آنگاه آنها را خواستند و به ایشان اخطار نمودند که به هیچ وجه به نام عیسی چیزی نگویند و تعلیمی ندهند.

¹⁹But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves,

¹⁹پِترُس و یوحنا در جواب گفتند: «خود تان قضاوت کنید: در نظر خدا چه چیز درست است؟ از خدا اطاعت کنیم یا از شما؟

²⁰for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.”

²⁰اما ما نمی توانیم از گفتن آنچه دیده ایم و شنیده ایم، دست برداریم.»

²¹When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

²¹آنها پِترُس و یوحنا را پس از تهدید بسیار رخصت دادند، زیرا راهی نیافتند تا ایشان را جزا بدهند از آنرو که همه خدا را برای آنچه واقع شده بود، حمد می گفتند.

²²For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

²²مردی که این معجزۀ شفا در مورد او انجام شده بود بیش از چهل ساله بود.

²³Being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.

²³وقتیکه این دو شاگرد از آنجا رخصت شدند پیش دوستان خود پس رفتند و چیزهایی را که سران کاهنان و بزرگان به آنها گفته بودند باز گفتند.

²⁴When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, “O Lord, you are God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;

²⁴وقتی آنها باخبر شدند، همه با یکدل به درگاه خدا دعا کردند و گفتند: «ای پروردگار، خالق آسمان و زمین و دریا و آنچه در آن ها است،

²⁵who by the mouth of your servant, David, said, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

²⁵تو بوسیله روح القدس از زبان پدر ما داود بنده خود فرمودی:«چرا مردم جهان شورش می کنند و قوم ها به باطل می اندیشند.

²⁶The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ Christ (Greek) and Messiah (Hebrew) both mean Anointed One. .’ Psalm 2:1-2

²⁶پادشاهان دنیا بر می خیزند و حکمرانان ایشان جمع می شوند، بر ضد خداوند و بر ضد مسیح او.»

²⁷“For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together

²⁷در واقع در همین شهر برضد بندۀ مقدس تو عیسی که تو مقرر فرمودی جمع شدند. هیرودیس و پنطیوس پیلاطُس، با غیر یهودیان و قوم اسرائیل دست به دست هم دادند

²⁸to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

²⁸و همه اعمالی را که تو با قدرت و ارادۀ خود از پیش مقرر فرموده بودی به انجام رسانیدند.

²⁹Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness,

²⁹اکنون ای خداوند تهدیدات آنها را ملاحظه فرما و بندگانت را توانا گردان تا پیام تو را با شهامت بیان کنند.

³⁰while you stretch out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.”

³⁰دست خود را به جهت شفا دادن و جاری ساختن نشانی ها و معجزاتی که به نام بندۀ مقدس تو عیسی انجام می گیرد دراز کن.»

³¹When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

³¹هنگامی که دعای شان به پایان رسید ساختمان محل اجتماع آنها به لرزه درآمد و همه از روح القدس پُر گشتند و کلام خدا را با شهامت بیان می کردند.

³²The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

³²همۀ مؤمنان از دل و جان همدست شده بودند و هیچکس دارایی خود را از خود نمی دانست بلکه همه در اموال یکدیگر شریک بودند.

³³With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Great grace was on them all.

³³رسولان به رستاخیز عیسی خداوند با قدرتی زیاد شهادت می دادند و خدا برکت فراوانی به آن ها عطا می فرمود.

³⁴For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,

³⁴هیچ کس در میان ایشان محتاج نبود زیرا هر کس زمینی یا خانه ای داشت آنرا می فروخت، پولش را می آورد

³⁵and laid them at the apostles’ feet, and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need.

³⁵و در اختیار رسولان میگذاشت و به این ترتیب بین محتاجان به نسبت احتیاج شان تقسیم میشد.

³⁶Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race,

³⁶مثلاً یوسف که رسولان او را برنابا یعنی تشویق کننده می نامیدند و از قبیله لاوی و اهل قبرس بودزمینی داشت، آنرا فروخت و پولش را در اختیار رسولان گذاشت.

³⁷having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

³⁷زمینی داشت، آنرا فروخت و پولش را در اختیار رسولان گذاشت.
