1“At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who shall be found written in the book.
1آن فرشته ای که لباس سفید کتانی پوشیده بود، به کلام خود ادامه داده گفت: «در آن زمان میکائیل، فرشتۀ اعظم برای حمایت قوم تو می آید و چنان دوران سختی پیش می آید که در تاریخ بشر سابقه نداشته است، اما هر کسی از قوم تو که نامش در کتاب خدا نوشته شده باشد، نجات می یابد.
2Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
2بسياری از آنانی که مرده اند، زنده می شوند. بعضی برای حیات جاودانی و برخی برای خجالت و حقارت.
3Those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the expanse; and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.
3حکیمان مثل آفتاب می درخشند و کسانی که مردم را به راه راست هدایت کرده اند، همچون ستارگان تا ابد تابناک می شوند.»
4But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run back and forth, and knowledge shall be increased.”
4بعد به من گفت: «اما تو ای دانیال، این پیشگوئی را مخفی در دلت نگهدار و کتاب را مُهر کن تا زمانۀ آخر فرا رسد. بسیاری از مردم بیهوده می کوشند بفهمند که چه حوادثی رخ می دهند.»
5Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on the river bank on this side, and the other on the river bank on that side.
5آنگاه من، دانیال، نگاه کردم و دو نفر دیگر را دیدم که یکی به این سوی دریا و دیگری به آنطرف آن ایستاده بودند.
6One said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
6یکی از آن ها آن فرشتۀ سفید پوش که در این وقت در بالای دریا ایستاده بود، پرسید: «چقدر طول می کشد تا این حوادث عجیب بپایان برسد؟»
7I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by him who lives forever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
7او در جواب، هر دو دست خود را بسوی آسمان بلند کرد و بنام خدای جاویدان قسم خورد و گفت: «این وضع تا سه و نیم سال دوام می کند و وقتی ظلم و ستمی که بر قوم مقدس می شود خاتمه یابد، این حوادث هم بپایان می رسد.»
8I heard, but I didn’t understand: then I said, my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?
8آنچه را که او گفت شنیدم، اما به مفهوم آن پی نبردم. پس پرسیدم: «آقای من، آخر این وقایع چه می شود؟»
9He said, Go your way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.
9او جواب داد: «ای دانیال، تو حالا برو، زیرا آنچه گفتم، تا زمانۀ آخر فرا برسد مُهر شده و مخفی می ماند.
10Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but those who are wise shall understand.
10عدۀ زیادی پاک و طاهر می شوند، ولی مردم بدکار چیزی نمی فهمند و به کارهای زشت خود همچنان ادامه می دهند. اما حکیمان همه چیز را درک می کنند.
11From the time that the continual burnt offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred ninety days.
11از وقتی که قربانی های روزانه منع شود و آن «مکروه ویرانگر» در عبادتگاه خدا قرار گیرد، یکهزار و دو صد و نود روز سپری می شود.
12Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred thirty-five days.
12خوشا بحال کسی که صبر می کند تا این دورۀ یکهزار و سیصد و سی و پنج روز به پایان برسد.اما ای دانیال، راهت را دنبال کن تا روز مرگت فرا رسد، اما بدان که در روز قیامت زنده می شوی تا پاداش ات را دریافت کنی.»
13But go you your way until the end; for you shall rest, and shall stand in your lot, at the end of the days.
