¹Therefore you shall love Yahweh your God, and keep his instructions, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, always.

¹خداوند، خدای خود را دوست بدار. اوامر، فرایض و قوانین او را همیشه بجا آور.

²Know this day: for I don’t speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,

²بیاد داشته باشید که شما از روی تجربه معلوماتی در مورد خداوند حاصل کردید و این شما بودید، نه فرزندان تان، که از طرف خداوند تأدیب شدید و عظمت، قدرت، هیبت

³and his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;

³و معجزات او را مشاهده نمودید و دیدید که با فرعون، پادشاه مصر و تمام مردم سرزمین او چه کرد

⁴and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Yahweh has destroyed them to this day;

⁴و چگونه سپاه او را با اسپان و عراده هایش از بین برد. آب بحیرۀ احمر را از جریان بازداشت و وقتیکه می خواستند قوم اسرائیل را تعقیب کنند، آب را دوباره جاری ساخت و همگی غرق شدند.

⁵and what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place;

⁵در طول دورانی که شما در بیابان بودید چه کارهائی کرد تا که شما را به اینجا رساند.

⁶and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel:

⁶وقتی داتان و ابیرام، پسران اِلیاب، از قبیلۀ رؤبین مرتکب گناه شدند، زمین دهان باز کرد و در برابر چشمان تمام مردم اسرائیل آن ها را با خانواده، خیمه ها و مال و دارائی شان در خود فرو برد

⁷but your eyes have seen all the great work of Yahweh which he did.

⁷و این شما بودید که همۀ این کارهای بزرگ خداوند را بچشم سر مشاهده کردید.

⁸Therefore you shall keep all the commandment which I command you this day, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land, where you go over to possess it;

⁸پس همۀ این احکامی را که امروز به شما می دهم بجا آورید تا قدرت آن را داشته باشید که سرزمینی را که به زودی وارد آن می شوید، تصرف کنید

⁹and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give to them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

⁹و در آنجا که شیر و عسل جاری است و خداوند وعدۀ مالکیت آن را به اجداد تان و اولادۀ شان که شما هستید، داد زندگی طولانی و خوب داشته باشید.

¹⁰For the land, where you go in to possess it, isn’t as the land of Egypt, that you came out from, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs;

¹⁰این سرزمینی که شما بزودی وارد آن می شوید، مثل زمین مصر که از آنجا آمده اید نیست که در آن تخم می کاشتید و با سختی آبیاری می کردید.

¹¹but the land, where you go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water of the rain of the sky,

¹¹بلکه این سرزمین از کوهها و دره هائی تشکیل شده است که با آب باران سیراب می شود

¹²a land which Yahweh your God cares for: the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.

¹²و خداوند، خدای تان آن را پرورش می کند و چشمان او همیشه در تمام سال متوجه آن می باشد.

¹³It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

¹³اگر شما تمام احکامی را که امروز به شما می دهم بجا آورید، خداوند، خدای تان را دوست بدارید و با تمام قلب و روح بندگی او را بکنید،

¹⁴that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil.

¹⁴آنگاه باران را به زمین تان در بهار و خزان می فرستد تا غله، شراب و روغن فراوان داشته باشید.

¹⁵I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.

¹⁵چراگاهها را برای چریدن گله های تان سبز و خرم می سازد و برای خود تان هم غذای کافی می دهد که بخورید و سیر شوید.

¹⁶Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

¹⁶احتیاط کنید، مبادا فریب بخورید و از خداوند روبرگردانید و پیرو خدایان غیر شده آن ها را بپرستید.

¹⁷and the anger of Yahweh be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which Yahweh gives you.

¹⁷زیرا در آن صورت غضب خداوند را بر سر خود می آورید و او دریچه های آسمان را بسته کرده دیگر باران نمی بارد و زمین حاصل نمی دهد و در نتیجه، در آن زمین خوبی که خداوند به شما داده است از بین می روید.

¹⁸Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes.

¹⁸این احکامی را که به شما می دهم از دل و جان بپذیرید و آن ها را مانند شعاری به دست و همچنین به پیشانی خود ببندید

¹⁹You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

¹⁹و به فرزندان تان تعلیم بدهید. همیشه دربارۀ آن ها صحبت کنید ـ خواه در خانه باشید خواه در بیرون، خواه در بستر باشید خواه بیدار.

²⁰You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates;

²⁰آن ها را بر سر در خانه ها و دروازه های تان بنویسید

²¹that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

²¹تا شما و فرزندان تان در آن سرزمینی که به پدران شما وعده داده است تا که آسمان و زمین باقی است زندگی کنید.

²²For if you shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him;

²²اگر شما همۀ این احکام را که به شما می دهم از دل و جان بجا آورید، خداوند، خدای تان را دوست بدارید، در طریق او قدم بردارید و از آن انحراف نکنید،

²³then will Yahweh drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

²³آنگاه خداوند همۀ این اقوام را که بزرگتر و قویتر از شما هستند، از سر راه تان بیرون می راند تا شما سرزمین های آن ها را تصرف کنید.

²⁴Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the hinder sea shall be your border.

²⁴به هر جائی که قدم بگذارید آنجا به شما تعلق می گیرد. ساحۀ قلمرو تان از طرف جنوب تا بیابان، از طرف شمال تا لبنان، از طرف شرق تا دریای فرات و از طرف غرب تا بحر مدیترانه وسعت خواهد داشت.

²⁵No man shall be able to stand before you: Yahweh your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread on, as he has spoken to you.

²⁵هیچ کسی نمی تواند در برابر شما مقاومت کند، زیرا خداوند، خدای تان قراریکه وعده داده است، در هر جائی که قدم تان برسد ترس شما را در دلهای مردم آنجا جای می دهد.

²⁶Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

²⁶من امروز به شما موقع می دهم که بین برکت و لعنت یکی را انتخاب کنید.

²⁷the blessing, if you shall listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you this day;

²⁷اگر از احکام خداوند، خدای تان که امروز به شما می دهم اطاعت کنید، برکت می بینید،

²⁸and the curse, if you shall not listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known.

²⁸اما هرگاه آن ها را بجا نیاورید و از خداوند، خدای تان روبرگردانید و پیروی خدایان بیگانه را نمائید مورد لعنت قرار می گیرید.

²⁹It shall happen, when Yahweh your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.

²⁹وقتی خداوند، خدای تان شما را به آن سرزمینی که به زودی تصاحب می کنید، برساند برکت را بر کوه جَرزِیم و لعنت را بر کوه عیبال اعلام کنید.

³⁰Aren’t they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

³⁰(طوریکه می دانید، اینها دو کوهی هستند در غرب دریای اردن، یعنی در سرزمین کنعانی های که در عربه مقابل جِلجال زندگی می کنند. بلوط موره هم در آنجا واقع است.)

³¹For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and you shall possess it, and dwell therein.

³¹وقتی از دریای اُردن عبور کرده به سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای تان به شما می دهد می رسید و در آنجا سکونت اختیار می کنید،باید از یک یک احکامی که امروز به شما می دهم از دل و جان اطاعت نمائید.

³²You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.

³²باید از یک یک احکامی که امروز به شما می دهم از دل و جان اطاعت نمائید.
