1Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them; that you may live, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, gives you.
1حالا ای قوم اسرائیل، به قوانین و فرایضی که به شما یاد می دهم بدقت گوش بدهید تا زنده بمانید و بتوانید به سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای اجداد تان به شما داده است وارد شوید و آن را تصاحب کنید.
2You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you.
2شما نباید به احکامی که به شما می دهم چیزی را بیفزائید و یا چیزی را از آن ها کم کنید، بلکه فقط همین احکامی را که از جانب خداوند، خدای تان می باشد بجا آورید.
3Your eyes have seen what Yahweh did because of Baal Peor; for all the men who followed Baal Peor, Yahweh your God has destroyed them from the midst of you.
3شما بچشم خود دیدید که خداوند چطور در بعل فغور تمام کسانی را که بت بعل را پرستش کردند از بین برد.
4But you who were faithful to Yahweh your God are all alive this day.
4اما چون شما به خداوند، خدای خود وفادار بودید، تا امروز زنده ماندید.
5Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Yahweh my God commanded me, that you should do so in the midst of the land where you go in to possess it.
5حالا طبق فرمان خداوند، خدای خود، قوانین و فرایض او را به شما تعلیم داده ام. تا وقتی که آن سرزمین را فتح کردید از این قوانین پیروی نمائید.
6Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes, and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
6اگر از آن ها از دل و جان اطاعت کنید، پیش مردم در داشتن حکمت و بصیرت مشهور می شوید و چون مردم دیگر این قوانین را بشنوند، بگویند: «این قوم بزرگ واقعاً دارای حکمت و بصیرت هستند.»
7For what great nation is there, that has a god so near to them, as Yahweh our God is whenever we call on him?
7زیرا هیچ قومی، هر قدر بزرگ هم باشند، مثل ما خدائی ندارند که به آن ها نزدیک باشد و هر وقتی که بحضور او دعا کنند، دعای شان را قبول فرماید.
8What great nation is there, that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
8هیچ ملتی، هر قدر بزرگ هم باشند مانند این احکام و قوانین عادلانه ای را که امروز به شما یاد دادم، ندارند.
9Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your children and your children’s children;
9لیکن احتیاط کنید و متوجه باشید تا مبادا در طول زندگی تان چیزهائی را که با چشمان خود دیده اید فراموش کنید، بلکه به فرزندان و نواسه های تان یاد بدهید.
10the day that you stood before Yahweh your God in Horeb, when Yahweh said to me, “Assemble me the people, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.”
10آن روزی را بخاطر بیاورید که در حوریب در حضور خداوند، خدای خود ایستاده بودید، او به من فرمود: «مردم را در حضور من جمع کن تا کلام مرا بشنوند و بیاموزند که تا زنده هستند به من احترام کنند و بتوانند فرزندان خود را تعلیم بدهند.»
11You came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire to the heart of the sky, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.
11شما نزدیک آمده در دامنۀ کوه ایستاده شدید در حالیکه ابر های سیاه و غلیظی کوه را پوشانیده بودند و شعله های آتش از آن به آسمان زبانه می کشیدند.
12Yahweh spoke to you out of the midst of the fire: you heard the voice of words, but you saw no form; you only heard a voice.
12آنگاه خداوند از بین آتش با شما صحبت کرد و شما تنها کلام او را شنیدید، اما خودش را ندیدید.
13He declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments; and he wrote them on two tables of stone.
13او پیمانی را که عبارتند از احکام ده گانۀ او، بر دو لوح سنگی نوشت و به شما داد تا از آن ها اطاعت کنید.
14Yahweh commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it.
14به من هم هدایت داد تا آن قوانین را به شما تعلیم بدهم که وقتی به سرزمین موعود برسید از آن ها پیروی نمائید.
15Take therefore good heed to yourselves; for you saw no kind of form on the day that Yahweh spoke to you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire.
15در آن روزیکه خداوند در کوه حوریب از بین آتش با شما صحبت کرد هیچ شکل و صورتی را ندیدید، پس احتیاط کنید
16Lest you corrupt yourselves, and make yourself an engraved image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
16که با ساختن بت به هر شکل، چه زن چه مرد،
17the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky,
17و چه بصورت حیوان یا پرنده،
18the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth;
18خزنده یا ماهی، خود را آلوده نسازید.
19and lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the army of the sky, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which Yahweh your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.
19همچنین وقتی به آسمان ها نگاه می کنید و آفتاب، مهتاب و ستارگان را می بینید، منحرف نشوید و آن ها را سجده و پرستش نکنید. خداوند، خدای تان آن ها را برای تمام اقوام جهان ساخته است.
20But Yahweh has taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be to him a people of inheritance, as at this day.
20خداوند شما را از کورۀ آهن، یعنی مصر بیرون آورد تا قوم خاص او باشید، طوریکه امروز هستید.
21Furthermore Yahweh was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I should not go over the Jordan, and that I should not go in to that good land, which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance:
21خداوند، خدای تان بخاطر شما بر من غضبناک شد و به تأکید اعلام فرمود که من از دریای اُردن عبور نخواهم کرد و در آن سرزمین خوب که به شما می دهد قدم نخواهم گذاشت.
22but I must die in this land, I must not go over the Jordan; but you shall go over, and possess that good land.
22من در همین جا بدون آنکه به آن طرف دریای اُردن بروم، می میرم، اما البته شما برای تصرف آن سرزمین حاصلخیز به آنجا می روید.
23Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he made with you, and make you an engraved image in the form of anything which Yahweh your God has forbidden you.
23پس احتیاط کنید که پیمان خداوند، خدای تان را که با شما بست، از یاد نبرید. هیچ نوع بتی را نسازید، زیرا خداوند، خدای تان شما را از این کار منع کرده است
24For Yahweh your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.
24خداوند، خدای شما آتش سوزنده و خدایی غیور است.
25When you shall father children, and children’s children, and you shall have been long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make an engraved image in the form of anything, and shall do that which is evil in the sight of Yahweh your God, to provoke him to anger;
25حتی اگر سالها در آن سرزمین زندگی کرده دارای فرزند و نواسه شده باشید، اما خود را با ساختن بتها و ارتکاب اعمالی که در نظر خداوند، خدای تان زشت اند، آلوده کنید و او را خشمناک سازید،
26I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto you go over the Jordan to possess it; you shall not prolong your days on it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
26زمین و آسمان شاهد باشند که شما در همان سرزمینی که با عبور از دریای اُردن آن را تصرف می کنید، بکلی از بین می روید.
27Yahweh will scatter you among the peoples, and you shall be left few in number among the nations, where Yahweh shall lead you away.
27خداوند شما را در بین اقوام پراگنده می کند و تعداد تان را کم می سازد.
28There you shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
28در آنجا بتهائی را که از چوب و سنگ و به دست انسان ساخته شده اند و نه می بینند، نه می شنوند، نه می خورند و نه می بویند، می پرستید.
29But from there you shall seek Yahweh your God, and you shall find him, when you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.
29در آنجا اگر بازهم خداوند، خدای تان را بطلبید و از جان و دل طالب او باشید، او را یافته می توانید.
30When you are in oppression, and all these things have come on you, in the latter days you shall return to Yahweh your God, and listen to his voice:
30وقتی با سختی ها و مشکلات روبرو شوید و همۀ این چیزها برای تان رخ بدهد باز سرانجام به خداوند، خدای تان رو می آورید و از آنچه که او به شما بفرماید اطاعت می کنید.
31for Yahweh your God is a merciful God; he will not fail you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.
31زیرا خداوند، خدای شما خدای رحیم و مهربان است. او شما را ترک نمی کند و از بین نمی برد و او پیمانی را که با اجداد تان بسته است فراموش نمی کند.
32For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the sky to the other, whether there has been anything as this great thing is, or has been heard like it?
32در تمام تاریخ، از زمانی که خدا انسانها را در روی زمین آفرید، از یک گوشۀ آسمان تا به گوشۀ دیگر آن را جستجو کنید و ببینید که آیا هرگز چنین چیزی با عظمت رخ داده است که مردمی آواز خدا را که از میان آتش با آن ها صحبت کرده است، مثل شما بشنوند و زنده بمانند؟
33Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?
33یا آیا شنیده اید که خدا با فرستادن بلاهای مدهش و ذریعۀ معجزات بزرگ و جنگ و بازوی توانای خود قومی را از اسارت قوم دیگری رهائی بخشیده برای خود برگزیند؟ اما خداوند، خدای شما در برابر چشمان تان این کار را در مصر برای شما انجام داد.
34Or has God tried to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that Yahweh your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
34او این کارها را فقط به خاطری کرد تا شما بدانید که او یگانه خدائی است و مانند و همتا ندارد.
35It was shown to you so that you might know that Yahweh is God. There is no one else besides him.
35از آسمان آواز خود را به شما شنواند تا شما تعلیم بگیرید. بر روی زمین آتش عظیم خود را به شما نشان داد تا آواز او را از بین آن بشنوید.
36Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you: and on earth he made you to see his great fire; and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.
36بخاطر محبتی که به اجداد تان داشت شما را برگزید و با قدرت عظیم خود از مصر بیرون آورد،
37Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;
37و اقوامی را که به مراتب بزرگتر و نیرومندتر از شما بودند، از سر راه تان دور کرد و سرزمین شان را طوریکه امروز می بینید، به شما بخشید.
38to drive out nations from before you greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as at this day.
38پس حالا بدانید و فراموش نکنید که خداوند، خدای آسمان ها و همچنین خدای روی زمین است و بغیر از او خدای دیگری وجود ندارد.
39Know therefore this day, and lay it to your heart, that Yahweh he is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is none else.
39فرایض و احکام او را که امروز به شما می دهم، بخاطر صلاح و بهبودی خود و فرزندان تان بجا آورید تا در این سرزمینی که خداوند، خدای تان به شما می دهد، برای همیشه زندگی کنید.»
40You shall keep his statutes, and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Yahweh your God gives you, forever.
40بعد موسی سه شهر را در شرق دریای اُردن تعیین کرد
41Then Moses set apart three cities beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise;
41تا اگر کسی بدون اراده و عداوت قبلی مرتکب قتل شود، برای فرار از خطر مرگ به یکی از آن ها پناه ببرد.
42that the manslayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unawares, and didn’t hate him in time past; and that fleeing to one of these cities he might live:
42این شهرها عبارت بودند از: باصر، در اراضی هموار بیابان برای قبیلۀ رؤبین، راموت، در جلعاد برای قبیلۀ جاد و جولان، در باشان برای قبیلۀ مَنَسّی.
43Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, for the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.
43وقتی قوم اسرائیل از مصر خارج شدند و در شرق دریای اُردن، مقابل بیت فغور اقامت داشتند، موسی احکام خداوند را به آن ها داد. این همان سرزمینی بود که سیحون، پادشاه اموریان در آن سلطنت می کرد و پایتخت آن شهر حِشبون بود و موسی و قوم اسرائیل او را با مردمش مغلوب ساختند.
44This is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:
44قوم اسرائیل سرزمین سیحون و همچنین کشور عوج، پادشاه باشان را که هر دو از پادشاهان اموری در شرق دریای اردن بودند، اشغال کردند.
45these are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Moses spoke to the children of Israel, when they came forth out of Egypt,
45این سرزمین از عروعیر در کنار دریای اَرنُون تا کوه سِریون که همان حِرمون است امتداد داشتو شامل تمام منطقۀ شرق دریای اُردن بود که از جنوب به بحیرۀ مُرده ختم می شود.
46beyond the Jordan, in the valley over against Beth Peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel struck, when they came forth out of Egypt.
46و شامل تمام منطقۀ شرق دریای اُردن بود که از جنوب به بحیرۀ مُرده ختم می شود.
47They took his land in possession, and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise;
48from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, even to Mount Sion (the same is Hermon),
49and all the Arabah beyond the Jordan eastward, even to the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.
