1Hear, Israel: you are to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the sky,
1ای قوم اسرائیل بشنوید! شما امروز از دریای اردن عبور می کنید تا سرزمین آن طرف دریا را متصرف شوید. مردمی که در آنجا زندگی می کنند بزرگتر و قویتر از شما هستند و شهرهای مستحکم و سربفلک کشیده دارند.
2a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard say, “Who can stand before the sons of Anak?”
2مردان آن ها قوی و قدبلند و از اولادۀ عناق غول پیکر هستند و شما آن ها را می شناسید که مردم دربارۀ شان می گفتند: «هیچ کسی نمی تواند در مقابل آن ها مقاومت کند.»
3Know therefore this day, that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will bring them down before you: so you shall drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as Yahweh has spoken to you.
3این را هم بدانید که امروز خداوند، خدای تان پیش از شما مثل آتش سوزنده ای به آنجا وارد می شود و آن مردم را مغلوب و سرکوب می سازد تا شما قراریکه خداوند وعده فرموده است، آنجا را فوراً تصرف کنید و مردمش را از بین ببرید.
4Don’t say in your heart, after Yahweh your God has thrust them out from before you, saying, “For my righteousness Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land”; because Yahweh drives them out before you because of the wickedness of these nations.
4وقتی خداوند، خدای تان آن ها را از سر راه تان دور کند، نگوئید: «بخاطری که ما مردم نیک هستیم، خداوند ما را به اینجا آورد تا آن را تصرف کنیم.» بلکه به سبب شرارت مردم خود آنجا بود که خداوند آن ها را از آنجا بیرون راند.
5Not for your righteousness, or for the uprightness of your heart, do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
5خداوند به خاطر اینکه شما مردم خوب و صالح هستید این سرزمین را به شما نمی بخشد، بلکه بسبب شرارت اقوام آنجا خدای تان آن ها را از آن سرزمین اخراج کرد تا وعدۀ خود را که به اجداد شما، یعنی ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب داده بود وفا کند.
6Know therefore, that Yahweh your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess it for your righteousness; for you are a stiff-necked people.
6باز می گویم که خداوند، خدای تان بخاطر اینکه شما مردم نیک هستید، این سرزمین خوب را به شما نمی دهد. برعکس، شما یک قوم سرکش هستید.
7Remember, don’t forget, how you provoked Yahweh your God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that you went forth out of the land of Egypt, until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Yahweh.
7بخاطر داشته باشید و فراموش نکنید که چطور آتش خشم خداوند، خدای تان را در بیابان برافروختید. از همان روزی که شما از مصر خارج شدید و به این سرزمین آمدید، بارها در مقابل خداوند بغاوت کرده اید.
8Also in Horeb you provoked Yahweh to wrath, and Yahweh was angry with you to destroy you.
8حتی در حوریب هم او را بحدی خشمگین ساختید که می خواست شما را از بین ببرد.
9When I was gone up onto the mountain to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which Yahweh made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.
9هنگامی به بالای کوه رفتم تا لوح های سنگی، یعنی لوح های پیمانی را که خداوند با شما بست بگیرم، مدت چهل شبانه روز گرسنه و تشنه در آنجا باقی ماندم.
10Yahweh delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them were all the words which Yahweh spoke with you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
10در ختم مدت آن چهل شبانه روز، خداوند آن دو لوحه را که با دست خود احکام خود را بر آن ها نوشته بود، به من داد. این همان احکامی بودند که خداوند در روزی که شما در پای کوه جمع شده بودید، از میان آتش به شما ابلاغ فرمود.
11It came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Yahweh gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
11بعد خداوند به من فرمود: «فوراً برخیز و پائین برو، زیرا قوم تو که ایشانرا از مصر بیرون آوردی همه فاسد شده اند. به بسیار زودی از راهی که من به آن ها نشان داده بودم انحراف کرده و برای خود بتی ساخته اند.»
12Yahweh said to me, “Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.”
12خداوند به من فرمود: «این قوم واقعاً مردم سرکش هستند.
13Furthermore Yahweh spoke to me, saying, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people:
13پس مرا بگذار که آن ها را از بین ببرم و نام شان را از زیر آسمان محو کنم. آنگاه برای تو قوم قویتر و بزرگتر از آن ها بوجود می آورم.»
14let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under the sky; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.”
14پس من در حالیکه دو لوحۀ پیمان خداوند را در دست داشتم از آن کوه شعله ور پائین شدم.
15So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
15آنگاه وقتی بت گوساله ای را که ساخته بودید، دیدم دانستم که شما براستی در مقابل خداوند گناه ورزیده اید و خیلی زود از احکام خداوند سرپیچی کرده اید.
16I looked, and behold, you had sinned against Yahweh your God; you had made yourselves a molten calf: you had turned aside quickly out of the way which Yahweh had commanded you.
16من لوح هائی را که در دست داشتم در برابر چشمان تان بر زمین زده شکستم.
17I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
17بار دیگر مدت چهل شبانه روز در حضور خداوند رو بخاک افتادم. نه نان خوردم و نه یک قطره آب نوشیدم. زیرا بخاطر گناه شما و کارهای زشتی که کرده بودید خداوند را به خشم آوردید.
18I fell down before Yahweh, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water; because of all your sin which you sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger.
18من می ترسیدم که مبادا خداوند از شدت خشم، شما را نابود سازد، اما خداوند بار دیگر دعایم را قبول فرمود.
19For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, with which Yahweh was angry against you to destroy you. But Yahweh listened to me that time also.
19یکبار خداوند بر هارون هم خشمگین شد و می خواست او را هلاک کند، اما من شفاعت او را نیز کردم.
20Yahweh was very angry with Aaron to destroy him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
20بعد من آن گوساله را که شما ساخته بودید، گرفتم و در آتش سوختاندم و آنرا ذره ذره کرده به خاک تبدیل نمودم و خاک آن را در نهری که از کوه جاری بود ریختم.
21I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast its dust into the brook that descended out of the mountain.
21در تَبعیره، مسا و قِبروت هتاوه هم آتش خشم خداوند، خدای تان را برافروختید.
22At Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth Hattaavah, you provoked Yahweh to wrath.
22وقتی که خداوند در قادِش بَرنیع به شما گفت: «به سرزمینی که به شما داده ام بروید و آن را تصاحب کنید.» شما امر خداوند، خدای تان را بجا نیاوردید. به او اعتماد نکردید و آواز او را نشنیدید.
23When Yahweh sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Go up and possess the land which I have given you”; then you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God, and you didn’t believe him, nor listen to his voice.
23از اولین روزی که شما را شناخته است، علیه او بغاوت نموده اید.
24You have been rebellious against Yahweh from the day that I knew you.
24چون خداوند می خواست شما را از بین ببرد، من مدت چهل شبانه روز در حضور او رو بخاک افتادم
25So I fell down before Yahweh the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Yahweh had said he would destroy you.
25و بدربار او دعا کردم و گفتم: «ای خداوند، خدای من، این مردم را که قوم برگزیدۀ تو هستند، با قدرت عظیمت از مصر نجات دادی.
26I prayed to Yahweh, and said, “Lord Yahweh, don’t destroy your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
26بندگانت ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب را بیاد آور و از سرکشی، شرارت و گناه این مردم چشم بپوش،
27Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; don’t look to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin,
27ورنه مردم مصر خواهند گفت: «چون خداوند نتوانست آن ها را به سرزمینی که وعده داده بود برساند و بخاطری که از آن ها نفرت داشت آن ها را از اینجا بیرون برد تا در بیابان هلاک شوند.»اما این مردم قوم برگزیدۀ تو هستند و تو آن ها را با قدرت و بازوی توانایت به اینجا آوردی.»
28lest the land you brought us out from say, ‘Because Yahweh was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.’
28اما این مردم قوم برگزیدۀ تو هستند و تو آن ها را با قدرت و بازوی توانایت به اینجا آوردی.»
29Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”
