¹Cast your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days.

³وقتی ابر ها از آب پُر شود باران بر زمین می بارد. درخت از هر طرف که بیفتد در همان جائی که افتاده است، باقی می ماند.

⁴He who observes the wind won’t sow; and he who regards the clouds won’t reap.

⁴کسی که متوجه باد است، چیزی نمی کارد و آنکه به ابر ها نظر نماید، چیزی را درو نمی کند.

⁵As you don’t know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don’t know the work of God who does all.

⁵کارهای خدا را که خالق همه چیز است، کسی درک کرده نمی تواند و همچنین کسی نمی داند که باد چگونه می وزد و طفل چطور در رَحِم مادر نشو و نما می کند.

⁶In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening don’t withhold your hand; for you don’t know which will prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both will be equally good.

⁶صبحگاهان بذر خود را بکارید و در شامگاهان دست از کار نکشید، زیرا نمی دانید که کدامیک ثمر می دهد، ممکن است هر دو ثمر بار بیاورند.

⁷زندگی شیرین و نور آفتاب دلپذیر است، پس برای هر سالی که زندگی می کنید، شکرگزار باشید و از آن لذت ببرید.

⁸Yes, if a man lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.

⁸بدانید که روزهای تاریکی در پیشرو دارید و سرانجام می میرید و امیدی برای تان باقی نمی ماند.

⁹Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

⁹ای جوان، روزهای جوانی ات را بخوشی بگذران و از آن ها لذت ببر. خواسته های قلبی ات را دنبال کن و هرچه دلت می خواهد انجام بده. اما فراموش مکن که خدا از همه کارهایت بازخواست می کند.غم و درد را در دلت راه مده، زیرا دوران جوانی کوتاه و زودگذر است.
