1After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.
1مدتی بعد، خشایار شاه شخصی را به نام هامان به مقام صدارت منصوب کرد. هامان پسر همداتا و از خاندان اَجاج بود.
2All the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate bowed down, and paid homage to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai didn’t bow down or pay him homage.
2پادشاه امر کرد که تمام مأمورین و خادمین دربار در مقابل هامان تعظیم کرده زانو بزنند. همه از امر پادشاه اطاعت کردند بغیر از مردخای که از این کار امتناع ورزید.
3Then the king’s servants, who were in the king’s gate, said to Mordecai, “Why do you disobey the king’s commandment?”
3سایر مأمورین و خادمین دربار از او پرسیدند: «چرا از امر شاه اطاعت نمی کنی؟»
4Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily to him, and he didn’t listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s reason would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew.
4آن ها هر روز اصرار می کردند و از او می خواستند که مانند دیگران به هامان احترام کند، ولی مردخای به حرف های آن ها گوش نمی داد و به آن ها گفت: «من یک یهودی هستم و نمی توانم در برابر هامان تعظیم کنم.» پس آن ها جریان را به اطلاع هامان رسانیدند و نمی دانستند آیا هامان رفتار مردخای را تحمل خواهد کرد یا نه.
5When Haman saw that Mordecai didn’t bow down, nor pay him homage, Haman was full of wrath.
5هامان وقتی فهمید مردخای حاضر نیست در برابر او تعظیم کند بسیار غضبناک شد.
6But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordecai alone, for they had made known to him Mordecai’s people. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even Mordecai’s people.
6و وقتی پی برد او یک یهودی است تصمیم گرفت نه تنها مردخای بلکه تمام یهودیان را در امپراطوری فارس به قتل برساند.
7In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, and chose the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
7در ماه نیسان یعنی اولین ماه از دوازدهمین سال سلطنت خشایار شاه، هامان دستور داد با پوریم فال بگیرند و ببینند چه روزی و چه ماهی برای اجرای نقشه اش مناسب تر است. روز سیزدهم از ماه آذر که دوازدهمین ماه سال بود برای این کار مناسب تشخیص داده شد.
8Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different than other people’s. They don’t keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not for the king’s profit to allow them to remain.
8پس هامان به پادشاه گفت: «یک ملتی از نژاد متفاوت در سراسر امپراطوری تو و در هر ولایت پراگنده شده اند. آداب و رسوم آن ها بر خلاف آداب و رسوم سایر مردم می باشد. از آن گذشته آن ها قوانین این مملکت را رعایت نمی کنند. از این رو به مصلحت شما است که از شر آن ها راحت شوید.
9If it pleases the king, let it be written that they be destroyed; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who are in charge of the king’s business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.”
9اگر پادشاه صلاح بدانند، دستوری صادر شود که بر طبق آن همۀ آنها کشته شوند. اگر چنین دستوری صادر فرمائید، من تعهد می کنم سیصد و هفتاد و پنج تن نقره برای ادارۀ امور امپراطوری به خزانه داری کاخ تحویل بدهم.»
10The king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
10پادشاه انگشتری را که با آن بر فرامین رسمی مُهر می زد، از انگشت خود در آورد و به هامان پسر همداتای اَجاجی، دشمن قوم یهود داد.
11The king said to Haman, “The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you.”
11پادشاه به او گفت: «این قوم و ثروت آن ها متعلق به توست، هر طور می خواهی با آن ها رفتار کن.»
12Then the king’s scribes were called in on the first month, on the thirteenth day of the month; and all that Haman commanded was written to the king’s satraps, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according its writing, and to every people in their language. It was written in the name of King Ahasuerus, and it was sealed with the king’s ring.
12پس در روز سیزدهم ماه اول هامان منشی های پادشاه را احضار کرد و به آن ها گفت که چطور متن فرمان را بنویسند. همچنین از آن ها خواست آن را به تمام زبانها و خطهای متداول در امپراطوری ترجمه و برای تمام فرمانداران، والیان و مأمورین بفرستند. این فرمان با نام و مُهر خشایار شاه صادر گردید.
13Letters were sent by couriers into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to plunder their possessions.
13مأمورین مخصوص این فرمان را به کلیۀ نواحی امپراطوری رسانیدند. بر طبق آن تمام یهودیان، پیر و جوان، مرد و زن می بایست در یک روز، یعنی در روز سیزدهم آذر، کشته شوند. آن ها می بایست بدون ترحم کشته شده و اموالشان ضبط گردد.
14A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that they should be ready against that day.
14متن فرمان می بایست در هر ولایت به اطلاع عموم می رسید تا همه برای آن روز آماده باشند.به دستور شاه این فرمان در شهر شوش پایتخت کشور به اطلاع عموم رسانیده شد و ماًمورین مخصوص این اخبار را به سایر ولایات نیز رسانیدند. در حالیکه شهر شوش در اضطراب بود پادشاه و هامان نشسته با هم شراب می نوشیدند.
15The couriers went forth in haste by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given out in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.
15به دستور شاه این فرمان در شهر شوش پایتخت کشور به اطلاع عموم رسانیده شد و ماًمورین مخصوص این اخبار را به سایر ولایات نیز رسانیدند. در حالیکه شهر شوش در اضطراب بود پادشاه و هامان نشسته با هم شراب می نوشیدند.
