¹In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the Word of Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. came by Haggai, the prophet, to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

¹در روز اول ماهِ ششم سال دوم سلطنت داریوش پادشاه، خداوند پیامی توسط حجی نبی برای زِرُبابل (پسر شِالتیئیل) والی یهودا و برای یهوشع (پسر یَهُوصادق) کاهن اعظم، فرستاد.

²“This is what Yahweh of Armies says: These people say, ‘The time hasn’t yet come, the time for Yahweh’s house to be built.’”

²خداوند قادر مطلق چنین فرمود: «این مردم می گویند که حالا وقت بازسازی عبادتگاه نیست.»

³Then the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai, the prophet, saying,

³بعد خداوند این پیام را توسط حجی نبی برای مردم فرستاد:

⁴“Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies waste?

⁴«آیا روا است که خود شما در خانۀ زیبا و مجلل زندگی کنید و عبادتگاه من خراب بماند؟»

⁵Now therefore this is what Yahweh of Armies says: Consider your ways.

⁵خداوند قادر مطلق چنین می فرماید: «به نتیجۀ کارهای تان توجه کنید:

⁶You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don’t have enough. You drink, but you aren’t filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm, and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it.”

⁶زیاد می کارید، ولی محصولِ کم بر می دارید. می خورید، اما سیر نمی شوید. می نوشید و بازهم تشنگی تان رفع نمی شود. لباس می پوشید، ولی گرم نمی شوید. کار می کنید، مزد می گیرید، اما مزد تان را گویا در جیب های سوراخ دار می گذارید.

⁷This is what Yahweh of Armies says: “Consider your ways.

⁷خداوند قادر مطلق چنین می فرماید: توجه کنید و ببینید که از کارهای تان چه نتیجه گرفته اید.

⁸Go up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,” says Yahweh.

⁸حالا به کوه رفته چوب بیاورید و عبادتگاه مرا دوباره آباد کنید تا من از دیدن آن لذت ببرم و نام من تجلیل گردد.

⁹“You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says Yahweh of Armies, “Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.

⁹شما منتظر بودید که محصول فراوان بردارید، اما خیلی کم به دست آوردید، و وقتیکه آن محصول کم را به خانه آوردید، من آن را از بین بردم. آیا می دانید چرا این کار را کردم؟ بخاطری که عبادتگاه من ویران مانده و شما مشغول ساختن خانه های خود هستید.

¹⁰Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

¹⁰به همین سبب است که باران نمی بارد و از زمین چیزی نمی روید.

¹¹I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground brings forth, on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands.”

¹¹من خشکسالی را بر زمین، کوه ها، مزارع، تاکستانها، باغهای زیتون، سایر محصولات و همچنین بر انسان و حیوان و تمام حاصل زحمت شما آوردم.»

¹²Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Yahweh, their God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” , and the words of Haggai, the prophet, as Yahweh, their God, had sent him; and the people feared Yahweh.

¹²آنگاه زِرُبابل (پسر شِالتیئیل)، یهوشع (پسر یَهُوصادق) و سایر مردم از خداوند ترسیدند و به پیام خداوند، خدای خود که توسط حجی فرستاده شده بود، گوش دادند.

¹³Then Haggai, Yahweh’s messenger, spoke Yahweh’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you,” says Yahweh.

¹³بعد خداوند پیام دیگری ذریعۀ حجی برای مردم فرستاد و فرمود: «من همراه شما هستم.»

¹⁴Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of Yahweh of Armies, their God,

¹⁴خداوند در زِرُبابل (والی یهودا)، یهوشع (کاهن اعظم) و سایر مردم شوق و رغبت ایجاد کرد تا به آبادی عبادتگاه او دست به کار شوند.پس در روز بیست و چهارم ماهِ ششم سال دومِ سلطنت داریوش، همگی جمع شدند و به آبادی عبادتگاه خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای شان، شروع کردند.

¹⁵پس در روز بیست و چهارم ماهِ ششم سال دومِ سلطنت داریوش، همگی جمع شدند و به آبادی عبادتگاه خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای شان، شروع کردند.
