¹In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹در روز بیست و یکم ماهِ هفتم همان سال، خداوند به حجی فرمود:

²“Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

²«از زِرُبابل (والی یهودا)، یهوشع (کاهن اعظم) و بقیۀ مردم بپرس:

³‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?

³آیا در بین ما کسی هست که جلال و عظمت عبادتگاه را همانطوری که در سابق بود، بیاد آورد؟ آیا در نظر شما این خانه در مقایسه با وضع قبلی آن ناچیز معلوم نمی شود؟

⁴Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁴اما با اینهم ای زِرُبابل و یهوشع و تمام قوم، مأیوس نشوید و قوی دل باشید. به کار تان شروع کنید، زیرا من همراه شما هستم.

⁵This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

⁵وقتی از مصر خارج می شدید، به شما وعده دادم که روح من همیشه با شما می باشد، بنابران از چیزی نترسید!

⁶For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

⁶بزودی آسمان ها، زمین، بحرها و خشکه را به لرزه می آورم. تمام اقوام را سرنگون می سازم.

⁷and I will shake all nations. The precious things of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.

⁷دارائی و ثروت شان به اینجا آورده می شود و این عبادتگاه را از شکوه و جلال خود پُر می کنم.

⁸The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁸همۀ طلا و نقرۀ دنیا به من تعلق می گیرند.

⁹‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place will I give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

⁹این عبادتگاه باشکوهتر از سابق می شود و در اینجا به قوم برگزیدۀ خود آسایش و سعادت می بخشم.» خداوند قادر مطلق این را فرموده است.

¹⁰In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹⁰در روز بیست و چهارم ماه نهم سال دوم سلطنت داریوش، خداوند قادر مطلق بار دیگر به حجی نبی فرمود:

¹¹“Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

¹¹«از کاهنان بپرس که شریعت به این سؤال چه جواب می دهد:

¹²‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered, “No.”

¹²اگر کسی گوشت مقدس را در دامن خود انداخته ببرد و فرضاً دامنش با نان، آش، شراب، روغن و یا هر نوع خوراک دیگر تماس کند، آیا آن خوراک مقدس می شود؟» وقتی حجی این سؤال را از کاهنان کرد، آن ها جواب دادند: «نی.»

¹³Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

¹³بعد حجی پرسید: «اما اگر کسی با تماس به جنازه ای، نجس شده باشد و بعد به یکی از این خوراکها دست بزند، آیا آن خوراک نجس می شود؟» کاهنان جواب دادند: «بلی نجس می شود.»

¹⁴Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

¹⁴پس حجی گفت: «خداوند می فرماید که این مردم هم همینطور هستند؛ هر کاری که می کنند و هر هدیه ای که به این خانه می آورند، نجس است.»

¹⁵Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

¹⁵خداوند می فرماید: «حالا توجه کنید و ببینید پیش از آنکه به آبادی عبادتگاه شروع کنید، چه وضعی داشتید؟

¹⁶Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

¹⁶در آنوقت شما توقع داشتید که دو خروار محصول بردارید، اما تنها یک خروار به دست می آوردید، و هرگاه می خواستید پنجاه لیتر شراب از خمره بکشید، فقط بیست لیتر در آن می یافتید.

¹⁷I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.

¹⁷من شما و حاصل دسترنج شما را با باد سوزان، آفت و ژاله تباه کردم، اما بازهم توبه نکردید.

¹⁸‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

¹⁸ولی از امروز که روز بیست و چهارم ماه نهم و روزی است که تهداب عبادتگاه گذاشته شده است، ببینید که با شما چه می کنم.

¹⁹Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t brought forth. From this day will I bless you.’”

¹⁹باوجودیکه غله در گدامها باقی نمانده و هنوز تاکها و درختان انجیر، انار و زیتون، میوه بار نیاورده اند، اما از همین روز به شما برکت می دهم.»

²⁰The Word of Yahweh came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

²⁰در همان روز بار دیگر این پیام از جانب خداوند برای حجی آمد:

²¹“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth.

²¹«به زِرُبابل، والی یهودا بگو که به زودی آسمان ها و زمین را به لرزه می آورم.

²²I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.

²²تختهای پادشاهان را واژگون می کنم. قدرت فرمانروایان را با عراده ها و سواران شان سرنگون می سازم و از بین می برم و سواران یکدیگر خود را با شمشیر می کشند.در آن روز ای زِرُبابل پسر شِالتیئیل بندۀ من، تو مانند نگین انگشتر من خواهی بود، زیرا که من ترا برگزیده ام.» خداوند قادر مطلق چنین فرموده است.

²³In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, will I take you, Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you as a signet, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

²³در آن روز ای زِرُبابل پسر شِالتیئیل بندۀ من، تو مانند نگین انگشتر من خواهی بود، زیرا که من ترا برگزیده ام.» خداوند قادر مطلق چنین فرموده است.
