¹Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

¹پس اکنون که گرداگرد ما چنین شاهدان امین بی شماری قرار گرفته اند، بیائید از هر قید و بندی و هر گناهی که دست و پای ما را بسته است آزاد شویم و با پشتکار در میدانی که در برابر ما قرار گرفته است بدویم.

²looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²به عیسی که ایمان ما را به وجود آورده و آن را کامل می گرداند، چشم بدوزیم. چون او به خاطر خوشی ای که در انتظارش بود، متحمل صلیب شد و به رسوایی مردن بر روی صلیب اهمیت نداد و بر دست راست تخت خدا نشسته است.

³For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.

³به آنچه او متحمل شد و به ضدیت و مخالفتی که او از طرف گناهکاران دید، فکر کنید و مأیوس و دلسرد نشوید.

⁴You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin;

⁴هنوز لازم نشده است که شما در تلاش خود بر ضد گناه، خون خود را بریزید.

⁵and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;

⁵آیا این کلام امید بخش را از یاد برده اید که شما را پسران خطاب کرده، می گوید:«ای فرزند من، تأدیب خداوند را ناچیز نشمار و وقتی او تو را ملامت می کند ناامید نشو،

⁶For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.” Proverbs 3:11-12

⁶زیرا خداوند هرکه را دوست دارد تأدیب می کند، و هر که را به فرزندی می پذیرد، تنبیه می نماید.»

⁷It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?

⁷شما این سختی ها را می بینید، زیرا این نشان می دهد که خدا با شما مانند فرزندان خود رفتار می کند. آیا هرگز پسری بوده است، که به دست پدر خویش تأدیب نشده باشد؟

⁸But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then are you illegitimate, and not children.

⁸پس اگر شما مانند دیگر پسران او تأدیب نشوید، معلوم است که حرام زاده هستید و نه فرزندان حقیقی!

⁹Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?

⁹ما نسبت به پدران جسمانی خود که ما را تأدیب نمودند، احترام لازم را نشان داده ایم؛ پس چقدر بیشتر باید مُطیع پدر روحانی خود باشیم و زنده بمانیم.

¹⁰For they indeed, for a few days, punished us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.

¹⁰پدران جسمانی برای زمانی کوتاه مطابق صلاحدید خویش، ما را تأدیب کردند، اما خدا به خاطر خیریت ما چنان می کند تا شریک قدوسیت او شویم.

¹¹All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.

¹¹زمانی که تنبیه می شویم نه تنها برای ما خوش آیند نیست، بلکه دردناک است، اما بعدها کسانی که با چنین تنبیهی تأدیب شده اند، از ثمرات سلامتی یک زندگی پاک بهره مند می شوند.

¹²Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees, Isaiah 35:3

¹²به دستها و پاهای سست و لرزان خود نیرو بخشید.

¹³and make straight paths for your feet, Proverbs 4:26 so that which is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

¹³در راه راست گام بردارید تا نه تنها اعضای بیمار و معیوب شما، از مفاصل خود جدا نشوند، بلکه نیروی اولیۀ خود را بازیابند.

¹⁴Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,

¹⁴بکوشید تا با همۀ مردم با صلح و سلامتی رفتار کنید و زندگی شما پاک و منزه باشد، زیرا بدون قدوسیت هیچ کس خداوند را نخواهد دید.

¹⁵looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it;

¹⁵به یکدیگر توجه کنید. مبادا کسی در میان شما از فیض خدا دور شود. متوجه باشید که کسی در میان شما مثل گیاهی تلخ و زهرآگین رشد نکند و موجب ناراحتی بسیاری نگردد

¹⁶lest there be any sexually immoral person, or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.

¹⁶و مانند عیسو، بداخلاق و بی دین نباشد. او حق اولباری خود را به یک وعده غذا فروخت،

¹⁷For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with tears.

¹⁷و شما می دانید که اگرچه او بعداً می خواست آن برکت را باز به دست آورد، ولی پذیرفته نشد، زیرا راهی برای بازگشت نداشت، اگرچه او با ریختن اشک در پی آن بود.

¹⁸For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,

¹⁸شما پیش آتشِ حس کردنی و مشتعل کوه سینا نیامده اید و در برابر تاریکی و تیرگی و گردباد

¹⁹the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which those who heard it begged that not one more word should be spoken to them,

¹⁹و صدای شیپور و صداهایی که شنوندگان آرزو داشتند دیگر آن ها را نشنوند، قرار نگرفته اید.

²⁰for they could not stand that which was commanded, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned TR adds “or shot with an arrow” [see Exodus 19:12-13] ”; Exodus 19:12-13

²⁰زیرا آن ها نتوانستند فرمان خدا را که می فرماید: «حتی اگر حیوانی به کوه نزدیک شود، باید سنگسار گردد.» بپذیرند.

²¹and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, “I am terrified and trembling.” Deuteronomy 9:19

²¹آن منظره چنان ترسناک بود که خود موسی گفت: «می ترسم و می لرزم.»

²²But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,

²²اما شما در مقابل کوه سهیون و شهر خدای زنده یعنی اورشلیم آسمانی ایستاده اید و در برابر فرشتگان بی شمار

²³to the general assembly and assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,

²³و مجلس جشن و اجتماع نخستزادگانی که نامهای آنها در عالم بالا ثبت شده است و در برابر خدا ـ داور همه ـ و ارواح عادلان قرار گرفته اید

²⁴to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, Jeremiah 31:31 and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.

²⁴و نزد عیسی، واسطۀ عهد و پیمان جدید که خون ریختۀ او نشان دهندۀ پیامی بهتر از خون هابیل است، آمده اید.

²⁵See that you don’t refuse him who speaks. For if they didn’t escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,

²⁵هوشیار باشید که از شنیدن صدای او که سخن می گوید رونگردانید. آن ها که از شنیدن سخنان کسی که بر روی زمین سخن می گفت سرپیچی کردند، به جزای خود رسیدند. پس ما اگر از گوش دادن به آن کسی که از آسمان سخن می گوید روی گردانیم، دچار چه جزای شدیدتری خواهیم شد!

²⁶whose voice shook the earth then, but now he has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens.” Haggai 2:6

²⁶در آن زمان صدای او زمین را لرزانید، اما اکنون قول داده است که یک بار دیگر نه تنها زمین، بلکه آسمان ها را نیز خواهد لرزانید.

²⁷This phrase, “Yet once more,” signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.

²⁷این کلمات، یعنی «یکبار دیگر»، نشان می دهد مخلوقاتی که لرزان و فنا پذیرند، از بین خواهند رفت و آنچه ثابت است، باقی خواهد ماند.

²⁸Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can’t be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,

²⁸خدا را برای آن پادشاهی ثابت و فنا ناپذیری که او به ما می دهد، سپاس گوئیم و او را آنطور که منظور اوست، عبادت نمائیم؛ یعنی با خوف و احترام.زیرا خدای ما در واقع آتشی است که می سوزاند.

²⁹for our God is a consuming fire. Deuteronomy 4:24
