1Yahweh showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs set before Yahweh’s temple, after that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
1بعد از آنکه نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل، یهویاکین (پسر یَهویاقیم) پادشاه یهودا را با اهل دربار، بزرگان، صنعتگران و آهنگران به بابل اسیر برد، خداوند دو تُکری انجیر را که در پیشروی عبادتگاه قرار داشت به من نشان داد.
2One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
2یکی از آن دو تُکری انجیرهای تازه و پُخته داشت، اما در تُکری دیگر انجیرهای بد و گنده بود که قابل خوردن نبودند.
3Then Yahweh said to me, What do you see, Jeremiah? I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.
3خداوند به من فرمود: «ارمیا، چه می بینی؟» من جواب دادم: «انجیرهای خوب که بسیار خوب اند و انجیرهای بد آنقدر بد هستند که خورده نمی شوند.»
4The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
4آنگاه خداوند، خدای اسرائیل فرمود: «کسانی را که به بابل به اسارت فرستاده ام، مثل این انجیر های خوب هستند و من آن ها را مورد رحمت و شفقت خود قرار می دهم.
5Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.
5از روی مهربانی مواظب و مراقب آن ها می باشم و آن ها را دوباره به این سرزمین می آورم. دیگر نمی گذارم که آن ها نابود و ریشه کن شوند، بلکه آن ها را در اینجا مستقر و پایدار می سازم.
6For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
6به آن ها دلی می بخشم که مایل به شناختن من باشد. آن ها قوم برگزیدۀ من باشند و من خدای شان، زیرا آن ها با تمامی دل بسوی من باز می گردند.»
7I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
7خداوند چنین می فرماید: «مثل انجیرهای بد که قابل خوردن نبوده و دور ریخته می شوند، به همین ترتیب با صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا، درباریان او و بقیۀ مردم اورشلیم که در اینجا باقی مانده اند و یا در مصر زندگی می کنند، رفتار می کنم.
8As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad, surely thus says Yahweh, So will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt,
8من آن ها را مایۀ تمسخر و نفرت تمام کشورهای روی زمین قرار می دهم و به هر جائی که آن ها را برانم، مسخره و رسوا و نفرین می شوند.شمشیر و قحطی و مرض را می فرستم تا همه را از این سرزمینی که به آن ها و اجداد شان دادم، بکلی محو و نابود سازد.»
9I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.
9شمشیر و قحطی و مرض را می فرستم تا همه را از این سرزمینی که به آن ها و اجداد شان دادم، بکلی محو و نابود سازد.»
10I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they be consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.
