¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (the same was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

¹در سال چهارم سلطنت یَهویاقیم (پسر یوشیا)، پادشاه یهودا که همزمان با اولین سال سلطنت نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل بود، پیامی برای عموم مردم یهودا از جانب خداوند به ارمیا رسید.

²which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

²ارمیا خطاب به مردم یهودا و اهالی اورشلیم کرده گفت:

³From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, these twenty-three years, the word of Yahweh has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking; but you have not listened.

³‏«از سال سیزدهم سلطنت یوشیا (پسر آمون) که بیست و سه سال ‏می گذرد، خداوند پیوسته به من سخن گفت و من نیز همیشه آن را ‏برای شما اعلام کرده ام، اما شما هیچگاهی گوش نداده اید.‏

⁴Yahweh has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them (but you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear)

⁴با وجودیکه خداوند دایم خدمتگاران خود، انبیاء را پیش شما فرستاده است، اما شما هرگز پیام آن ها را نشنیده اید و توجهی به سخنان شان نکرده اید.

⁵saying, Return now everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that Yahweh has given to you and to your fathers, from of old and even forevermore;

⁵به شما گفتند که از اعمال زشت تان دست بکشید تا در این سرزمینی که خداوند به پدران تان به عنوان ملکیت همیشگی بخشیده است، زندگی کنید.

⁶and don’t go after other gods to serve them or worship them, and don’t provoke me to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no harm.

⁶به دنبال خدایان بیگانه نروید، آن ها را بندگی و پرستش نکنید و به دست خود آتش خشم خداوند را نیفروزید تا او به شما آسیبی نرساند.

⁷Yet you have not listened to me, says Yahweh; that you may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt.

⁷اما خداوند می فرماید که شما به حرف من گوش ندادید. شما بخاطر بتهای ساختۀ دست خود آتش خشم مرا برافروختید، بنابراین سزاوار مجازات هستید.

⁸Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies: Because you have not heard my words,

⁸خداوند قادر مطلق می فرماید که چون شما از امر او اطاعت نکردید،

⁹behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says Yahweh, and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

⁹پس او تمام اقوام شمال را همراه با خدمتگار خود، نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل علیه این سرزمین و باشندگان و اقوام اطراف شما می فرستم تا همۀ تان را بکلی نابود کنند. شما را مایۀ تمسخر دیگران می سازم و برای همیشه رسوا می شوید. خداوند فرموده است.

¹⁰Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

¹⁰صدای خوشی و شادمانی برای همیشه خاموش می شود و جشنهای عروسی را دیگر نمی بینید. بخاطر نبودن گندم، آسیاب ها از کار می افتند و تیل برای افروختن چراغ باقی نمی ماند.

¹¹This whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

¹¹تمام این سرزمین به ویرانه ای تبدیل شده، متروک می گردد. شما و اقوام اطراف تان مدت هفتاد سال پادشاه بابل را خدمت می کنید.

¹²It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, says Yahweh, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it desolate forever.

¹²پس از ختم هفتاد سال، پادشاه بابل و مردم او را که کلدانیان هستند، بخاطر گناهان شان جزا می دهم و سرزمین شان را به ویرانۀ ابدی تبدیل می کنم. خداوند فرموده است.

¹³I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

¹³تمام آن بلاها را که توسط ارمیا علیه آن ها پیشگوئی کرده بودم و در این کتاب ذکر شده است، بر سر شان می آورم.

¹⁴For many nations and great kings shall make bondservants of them, even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.

¹⁴اقوام و پادشاهان بزرگ، آن ها را اسیر می برند و من همۀ شان را مطابق کردار و اعمال شان مجازات می کنم.»

¹⁵For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, to me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

¹⁵خداوند، خدای اسرائیل به من چنین فرمود: «این جام را که از شراب غضب من پُر است، بگیر و به تمام اقوامی که من ترا پیش آن ها می فرستم بده که از آن بنوشند

¹⁶They shall drink, and reel back and forth, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

¹⁶تا همه گیچ شوند. سپس همگی شان در اثر جنگی که من علیه آن ها برپا می کنم دیوانه می گردند.»

¹⁷Then took I the cup at Yahweh’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom Yahweh had sent me:

¹⁷پس من جام را از دست خداوند گرفتم و به همه اقوامی که خداوند مرا پیش آن ها فرستاد، دادم که از آن بنوشند.

¹⁸Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and its kings, and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;

¹⁸مردم اورشلیم و شهرهای یهودا را همراه با پادشاهان و بزرگان شان وادار ساختم که از آن جام بنوشند تا آن ها را مورد تمسخر و نفرین قرار داده و ویران و متروک باقی بمانند، چنانکه امروز واقع شده است.

¹⁹Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

¹⁹به فرعون، پادشاه مصر، اهل دربار، تمام مردم او و همچنین بیگانگانی که در مصر زندگی می کردند، از شراب آن جام دادم که بنوشند. پادشاهان کشور عوص و مردم شهرهای فلسطین، اَشقَلُون، غزه، عِقرون و بقیۀ مردم شهر اَشدُود را هم از آن شراب دادم.

²⁰and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of the Uz, and all the kings of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

²⁰مردمان ادوم، موآب و عَمون نیز از آن شراب نوشیدند.

²¹Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon;

²¹تمام پادشاهان صور و سِیدون، پادشاهان کشورهای سواحل بحر مدیترانه،

²²and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;

²²شهرهای دَدان، تیما، بوز و تمام مردمی که موی شقیقه های خود را می تراشند؛

²³Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all who have the corners of their beard cut off;

²³همۀ پادشاهان عرب، و قبایل مختلف که در بیابان زندگی می کنند،

²⁴and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the wilderness;

²⁴پادشاهان زِمری، عیلام و ماد؛

²⁵and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;

²⁵تمام پادشاهان سمت شمال و دور و نزدیک و همۀ کشورهای جهان یکی پس از دیگری از آن شراب نوشیدند. بعد از همه پادشاه بابل (شیشک) از آن جام نوشید.

²⁶and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the surface of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

²⁶بعد خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل به من فرمود: «به آن ها بگو که از این جام غضب من بنوشند تا مست شوند و قی کنند، به زمین بیفتند و دیگر برنخیزند، زیرا من شمشیر دشمن را برای مجازات شان می فرستم.

²⁷You shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Drink, and be drunk, vomit, fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

²⁷اگر آن ها نخواهند که جام را از دست تو بگیرند و بنوشند، آنگاه به آن ها بگو که خداوند قادر مطلق چنین می فرماید: شما مجبور هستید که بنوشید!

²⁸It shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies: You shall surely drink.

²⁸من می خواهم که مصیبت بزرگی را بالای این شهر که بنام من یاد می شود، بیاورم. آیا خیال می کنید که از مجازات در امان می مانید؟ خیر، مجازات شما حتمی است. من، خداوند قادر مطلق، علیه تمام مردم روی زمین بلای جنگ را نازل می کنم.

²⁹For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says Yahweh of Armies.

²⁹پس تو علیه آن ها پیشگوئی کن و بگو که خداوند از جایگاه مقدس و ملکوتی خود بر قوم برگزیدۀ خود و تمام ساکنین روی زمین فریاد بر می آورد و صدای مهیب و سهمناک او مانند غرش آنهائی است که انگور را در زیر پا می فشارند.

³⁰Therefore prophesy you against them all these words, and tell them, Yahweh will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

³⁰فریاد او تا آخرین نقطۀ زمین بگوش می رسد، زیرا خداوند بر تمام اقوام جهان داوری می کند و شریران با دم شمشیر مجازات می شوند.» این گفتۀ خداوند است.

³¹A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for Yahweh has a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, says Yahweh.

³¹خداوند قادر مطلق چنین می فرماید: «بلا و مصیبت مانند گِردباد مهیبی اقوام جهان را یکی پس از دیگری گرفتار خود می سازد و تا دورترین نقطۀ زمین پخش می شود!

³²Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

³²در آن روز اجساد کسانی را که خداوند کشته است سراسر روی زمین را پُر می کنند. کسی برای آن ها ماتم نمی گیرد. آن ها را کسی جمع و دفن نمی کند و مثل پارو بر روی زمین باقی می مانند.

³³The slain of Yahweh shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung on the surface of the ground.

³³ای چوپانان و ای رهبران قوم، گریه کنید و فریاد برآورید و در خاک بغلطید، زیرا روز کشتار و پراگندگی شما فرا رسیده است و مثل ظرف مرغوب می افتید و خُرد می شوید.

³⁴Wail, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow in dust, you principal of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are fully come, and you shall fall like a goodly vessel.

³⁴راه فرار و پناهگاهی برای تان وجود نمی داشته باشد.

³⁵The shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

³⁵از غصه و اندوه فریاد می زنید، زیرا خداوند با قهر سهمگین خود چراگاه های شما را ویران کرده

³⁶A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the principal of the flock! for Yahweh lays waste their pasture.

³⁶و صلح و آرامش قوم را برهم زده است.خداوند مانند شیری که بیشۀ خود را ترک می کند، شما را ترک کرده و در اثر خشم شدید و شمشیر غضب او سرزمین تان ویران شده است.»

³⁷The peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of Yahweh.

³⁷خداوند مانند شیری که بیشۀ خود را ترک می کند، شما را ترک کرده و در اثر خشم شدید و شمشیر غضب او سرزمین تان ویران شده است.»

³⁸He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land has become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppression, and because of his fierce anger.
