¹Moreover the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

¹بار دیگر خداوند با ارمیا که هنوز در زندان بود، سخن گفت.‏

²Thus says Yahweh who does it, Yahweh who forms it to establish it; Yahweh is his name:

²خداوندی که زمین را آفرید و آن را شکل داد و در هوا معلق نگاه داشت و نام او خداوند است می فرماید:

³Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know.

³«از من درخواست کن و من آن را می پذیرم و اسرار پنهانی را برایت فاش می کنم.

⁴For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to make a defense against the mounds and against the sword;

⁴من، خداوند، خدای اسرائیل، در مورد خانه های شهر و قصر پادشاه یهودا می گویم که آن ها همه ويران شده بودند و مصالح آن ها را بحیث سنگر به کار می برند.

⁵while men come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have killed in my anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hidden my face from this city:

⁵کلدانیان می آیند و شهر را از اجساد اهالی آن پُر می کنند، زیرا مردم این شهر بخاطر شرارت خود آتش خشم مرا شعله ور ساختند و من روی خود را از آن ها پوشاندم.

⁶Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.

⁶اما با آنهم، خرابی های این شهر را ترمیم می کنم و مسکونین آن را شفا و آسایش بخشیده از سعادت کامل برخوردار می سازم.

⁷I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

⁷اسیران اسرائیل و یهودا را دوباره به وطن شان می آورم و مثل سابق آن ها را کامران می گردانم.

⁸I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, by which they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, by which they have sinned against me, and by which they have transgressed against me.

⁸من آن ها را از گناهانی که در برابر من کرده اند، پاک می کنم و تمرد و نافرمانی های شان را می بخشم.

⁹This city shall be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and for a glory, before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do to them, and shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I procure to it.

⁹آنگاه شهر اورشلیم مایۀ خوشی من می گردد و باعث می شود که تمام اقوام جهان نام مرا تجلیل و تمجید کنند و همگی از خوبی هائی که در حق قوم برگزیدۀ خود می کنم و نعمت هائی را که به آن ها می بخشم، از ترس بلرزند.»

¹⁰Thus says Yahweh: Yet again there shall be heard in this place, about which you say, It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,

¹⁰خداوند می فرماید: «مردم می گویند که شهرهای یهودا و جاده های اورشلیم ویران و خالی از انسان و حیوان شده اند.

¹¹the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever; who bring thanksgiving into the house of Yahweh. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, says Yahweh.

¹¹اما در همان جا بار دیگر آواز خوشی، صدای شادِ داماد و عروس و نوای ساز و سرود شنیده می شود. مردم برای خداوند قربانی های شکرگزاری تقدیم کرده می گویند: «از خداوند قادر مطلق شکرگزار باشید، زیرا او خداوند مهربان است و رحمت و شفقت او استوار و جاویدان است!» من سعادت و کامرانی این سرزمین را که در اول داشت، بار دیگر برایش اعاده می کنم.» این گفتۀ خداوند است.

¹²Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

¹²خداوند قادر مطلق می فرماید: «این سرزمینی که ویران و خالی از وجود انسان و حیوان است، بار دیگر دارای چراگاهها شده و چوپانها گله های خود را در آن ها می چرانند.

¹³In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks again pass under the hands of him who numbers them, says Yahweh.

¹³در شهرهای کوهستانی، در دامنه های کوهها، در ساحۀ جنوبی یهودا، در سرزمین بنیامین و اطراف اورشلیم و در شهرهای یهودا، قرار وعده ای که داده ام، چوپانها یک بار دیگر گوسفندان خود را می شمارند.» خداوند فرموده است.

¹⁴Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

¹⁴خداوند می فرماید: «زمانی می رسد که من وعدۀ خود را که به مردم اسرائیل و یهودا داده ام عملی می سازم.

¹⁵In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁵در آن زمان از نسل داود شاخۀ عادل و راستکاری را بر می گزینم تا با عدل و انصاف حکومت کند.

¹⁶In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name by which she shall be called: Yahweh our righteousness.

¹⁶در آن روزها یهودا نجات می یابد و اورشلیم در رفاه و آسایش بسر می برد. و او بنام «خداوند عدالت ما است» یاد می شود.

¹⁷For thus says Yahweh: David shall never want a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

¹⁷خداوند چنین می فرماید که از نسل داود همیشه یک نفر بر تخت سلطنت خاندان اسرائیل خواهد نشست

¹⁸neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to burn meal offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

¹⁸و از کاهنان لاوی هم پیوسته اشخاصی حاضر خواهند بود تا در حضور من مراسم قربانیهای سوختنی و هدایای آردی را اجراء کنند.»

¹⁹The word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁹بعد این کلام از جانب خداوند برای ارمیا رسید:

²⁰Thus says Yahweh: If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there shall not be day and night in their season;

²⁰«من عهد کرده ام که شب و روز همیشه در وقت معینی ظهور کنند و این عهد تغییر ناپذیر است. اگر کسی بتواند که این نظام را برهم بزند و یا تغییر بدهد، آنوقت من هم پیمان خود را که با بنده ام داود بسته ام، می شکنم تا از اولادۀ او کسی وجود نداشته باشد که وارث تاج و تخت او شود. همچنین عهد خود را که با خدمتگارانم، کاهنان لاوی بسته ام نیز نقض می کنم.

²¹then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

²¹همانطوری که ستارگان آسمان و ریگهای بحر را نمی توان شمار و پیمانه کرد، نسل بنده ام، داود و لاویان را که در خدمت من هستند، به اندازه ای زیاد می کنم که خارج از حساب باشند.»

²²As the army of the sky can’t be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites who minister to me.

²²خداوند باز به ارمیا فرمود:

²³The word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying,

²³«آیا متوجه نشدی که مردم چه می گویند؟ آن ها اظهار می دارند که اسرائیل و یهودا را که خداوند یک وقتی برگزیده بود، حالا ترک کرده است. آن ها خوار و حقیر شده اند دیگر به حیث یک قوم شمرده نمی شوند.

²⁴Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, The two families which Yahweh chose, he has cast them off? thus do they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

²⁴اما من می گویم: تا وقتی که شب و روز وجود دارد و نظام آسمان و زمین برقرار است،قوم اسرائیل و اولادۀ داود را ترک نمی کنم و همیشه یک نفر از نسل داود را بعنوان پادشاه بر تخت سلطنت می نشانم تا بر اولادۀ ابراهیم و اسحاق و یعقوب حکومت کند. من آن ها را از اسارت آزاد کرده به این سرزمین باز می گردانم و بر آن ها رحم می کنم.»

²⁵Thus says Yahweh: If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

²⁵قوم اسرائیل و اولادۀ داود را ترک نمی کنم و همیشه یک نفر از نسل داود را بعنوان پادشاه بر تخت سلطنت می نشانم تا بر اولادۀ ابراهیم و اسحاق و یعقوب حکومت کند. من آن ها را از اسارت آزاد کرده به این سرزمین باز می گردانم و بر آن ها رحم می کنم.»

²⁶then will I also cast away the seed of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and will have mercy on them.
