¹It happened when Jerusalem was taken, (in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and besieged it;

¹در ماه دهم سال نهم سلطنت صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا، نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل با تمام سپاه خود به اورشلیم حمله برد و آن را محاصره کرد.

²in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city),

²در روز نهم ماه چهارم سال یازدهم سلطنت صدقیا، کلدانیان دیوارهای شهر را ویران نموده به داخل شهر رخنه کردند.

³that all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.

³بعد از آنکه شهر سقوط کرد، همه سرکردگان نظامی سپاه پادشاه بابل در کنار دروازۀ وسطی نشستند. نَرجَل شرازِرِ (فرمانده)، سَمجَرنَبو، سَرسَکیم (رئیس خواجه سرایان) و نَرجَل شرازِر (مشاور پادشاه بابل) در آنجا بودند.

⁴It happened that, when Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.

⁴وقتی صدقیا پادشاه و سپاه او آن ها را دیدند، پا به فرار گذاشتند و در تاریکی شب از راه دروازۀ بین دو دیوارِ پشت باغ شاه از شهر بیرون شده به طرف درۀ اُردن رفتند.

⁵But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment on him.

⁵اما عساکر کلدانیان آن ها را تعقیب کرده صدقیا را در دشت اریحا دستگیر نمودند و نزد نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل بردند. او در آن وقت در رِبله، واقع در سرزمین حمات، اقامت داشت و در آنجا جزای او را تعیین کرد.

⁶Then the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah.

⁶پادشاه بابل پسران صدقیا را با اشراف یهودا در برابر چشمانش بقتل رساند.

⁷Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

⁷بعد امر کرد که چشمان صدقیا را از کاسۀ سرش بیرون کنند و او را با زنجیر بسته به بابل ببرند.

⁸The Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

⁸در عین حال، کلدانیان، قصر سلطنتی و خانه های مردم را آتش زدند و دیوارهای شهر اورشلیم را خراب کردند.

⁹Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the residue of the people who remained in the city, the deserters also who fell away to him, and the residue of the people who remained.

⁹سپس نِبوزَرادان قوماندان قوای کلدانیان، سایر مردم اورشلیم را با کسانی به آن ها تسلیم شده بودند، به بابل تبعید کرد.

¹⁰But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

¹⁰اما مردمانی که فقیر و نادار بودند، در سرزمین یهودا باقی ماندند و مزرعه و تاکستان به آن ها دادند.

¹¹Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon commanded Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard concerning Jeremiah, saying,

¹¹نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل، به نِبوزَرادان امر نموده گفت:

¹²Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do to him even as he shall tell you.

¹²«برو ارمیا را پیدا کن. از او بخوبی مراقبت نما و هر چه که بخواهد در اختیارش بگذار.»

¹³So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon;

¹³پس نِبوزَرادان قوماندان قوای پادشاه بابل و نَبوشَزبان، رئیس دربار و نَرجَل شرازِر مشاور شاه و سایر مقامات او را از زندان آوردند و به دست جَدَلیا (پسر اخیقام) سپردند تا او را به خانۀ خود ببرد. به این ترتیب ارمیا با قوم خود یکجا شد.

¹⁴they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he lived among the people.

¹⁴در وقتی که ارمیا هنوز در قصر شاهی زندانی بود، خداوند به او فرمود

¹⁵Now the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

¹⁵که برود و به عبد ملک حبشی بگوید که خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل، می فرماید: «طوریکه اراده کرده بودم، می خواهم بلائی را بر سر این شهر بیاورم و تو همه را به چشم سر می بینی.

¹⁶Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished before you in that day.

¹⁶اما من خداوند، ترا از آن بلا نجات می دهم و به دست کسانی که قصد کشتن ترا دارند، نمی سپارم.من یقیناً از تو حفاظت می کنم تا از مهلکه نجات یابی و کشته نشوی، زیرا تو به من اعتماد کردی. من، خداوند چنین فرموده ام.»

¹⁷But I will deliver you in that day, says Yahweh; and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.

¹⁷من یقیناً از تو حفاظت می کنم تا از مهلکه نجات یابی و کشته نشوی، زیرا تو به من اعتماد کردی. من، خداوند چنین فرموده ام.»

¹⁸For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be for a prey to you; because you have put your trust in me, says Yahweh.
