¹Then Job answered Yahweh,

¹آنگاه ایوب این چنین به خداوند جواب داد:

²“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be restrained.

²«من می دانم که تو قادر به هر کاری هستی و هیچ کسی نمی تواند ترا از اراده ات باز دارد.

³You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ therefore I have uttered that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I didn’t know.

³تو پرسیدی: «چرا با سخنان بی معنی خود حکمت مرا انکار می کنی؟» من براستی از روی نادانی حرف زدم و نمی دانستم که چه می گویم. در بارۀ چیزهائی سخن گفتم که بالا تر از فهم من بودند.

⁴You said, ‘Listen, now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.’

⁴به من گفتی که سخنانت را گوش کنم و به سوال هائی که از من می کنی جواب بدهم.

⁵I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you.

⁵قبلاً گوش من در بارۀ تو چیزهائی شنیده بود، اما حالا چشم من ترا می بیند،

⁶Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”

⁶بنابران، از خودم بدم می آید و در خاک و خاکستر می نشینم و توبه می کنم.»

⁷It was so, that after Yahweh had spoken these words to Job, Yahweh said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends; for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

⁷بعد از آنکه خداوند سخنان خود را با ایوب تمام کرد، به اَلیفاز تَیمانی فرمود: «من بر تو و دو دوستت قهر هستم، زیرا شما مثل بنده ام، ایوب در بارۀ من حرف درست نزدید.

⁸Now therefore, take to yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept him, that I not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.”

⁸پس حالا هفت گوساله و هفت قوچ را گرفته پیش بنده ام، ایوب بروید و آن ها را جهت گناه خود بعنوان قربانی سوختنی تقدیم کنید. آنگاه بندۀ من، ایوب برای تان دعا می کند و من دعایش را می پذیرم و گناه شما را می بخشم، زیرا که دربارۀ من مانند ایوب سخنان بجا نگفتید.»

⁹So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did what Yahweh commanded them, and Yahweh accepted Job.

⁹پس اَلیفاز تَیمانی، بِلدَد شوحی و صوفر نعماتی رفتند و همانطوریکه خداوند فرموده بود، عمل کردند و خداوند دعای ایوب را در حق شان مستجاب نمود.

¹⁰Yahweh turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Yahweh gave Job twice as much as he had before.

¹⁰پس از آنکه ایوب برای دوستان خود دعا کرد، خداوند دو چندِ همه چیزهائی که ایوب قبلاً داشت به او باز گردانید.

¹¹Then came there to him all his brothers, and all his sisters, and all those who had been of his acquaintance before, and ate bread with him in his house. They comforted him, and consoled him concerning all the evil that Yahweh had brought on him. Everyone also gave him a piece of money, literally, kesitah, a unit of money, probably silver and everyone a ring of gold.

¹¹بعد همه برادران، خواهران و آشنایانش بخاطر مصیبتی که بر سر او آمده بود، برای تسلی پیش او آمدند و در خانه اش جشن گرفتند. هر کدام آن ها پول و انگشتر طلا به او هدیه دادند.

¹²So Yahweh blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

¹²خداوند در سالهای آخر عمر ایوب، بیشتر از اول به او برکت داد. او دارای چهارده هزار گوسفند، شش هزار شتر، هفت هزار جوره گاو و هزار خر ماده شد.

¹³He had also seven sons and three daughters.

¹³او همچنین هفت پسر و سه دختر بنامهای یمیمه، قصیعه و قَرَن هفوک داشت.

¹⁴He called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren Happuch.

¹⁴در تمام آن سرزمین هیچ زنی زیبائی دختران ایوب را نداشت و پدر شان به آن ها هم مانند برادران شان ارث داد.

¹⁵In all the land were no women found so beautiful as the daughters of Job. Their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.

¹⁵بعد از آن ایوب یکصد و چهل سال دیگر زندگی کرد و فرزندان و نواسه های خود را تا نسل چهارم دیدو پس از یک عمر طولانی در سن پیری و سالخوردگی چشم از جهان بست.

¹⁶After this Job lived one hundred forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, to four generations.

¹⁶و پس از یک عمر طولانی در سن پیری و سالخوردگی چشم از جهان بست.

¹⁷So Job died, being old and full of days.
