1“Call now; is there any who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
1فریاد برآور و ببین که آیا کسی به داد تو می رسد. آیا مقدس دیگری هست که به او رو آوری؟
2For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.
2غم و غصه و رَشک و حسد کار احمقان است و انسان را می کشد.
3I have seen the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
3آن ها برای یک مدت موفق هستند، اما بلای ناگهانی بر خانۀ شان نازل می شود.
4His children are far from safety. They are crushed in the gate. Neither is there any to deliver them,
4فرزندان شان بی پناه می گردند، در رفاه نمی باشند و کسی از آن ها حمایت نمی کند.
5whose harvest the hungry eats up, and take it even out of the thorns. The snare gapes for their substance.
5مردمان گرسنه محصول شان را از میان خارها چیده می خورند و اشخاص حریص دارائی آن ها را غارت می کنند.
6For affliction doesn’t come forth from the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;
6بدبختی و مشکلات هیچگاهی از زمین نمی روید،
7but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
7بلکه همانطوریکه جَرَقه از آتش بلند می شود، بدبختی هم از خود انسان نشأت می کند.
8“But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,
8ولی اگر من بجای تو می بودم برای حل مشکل خود به خدا رجوع می کردم،
9who does great things that can’t be fathomed, marvelous things without number;
9زیرا او کارهای عجیب و معجزات حیرت انگیز و بی حساب بعمل می آورد که ما از درک آن ها عاجز هستیم.
10who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;
10باران را می فرستد و کشتزارها را آبیاری می کند.
11so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.
11اشخاص حلیم و فروتن را سرفراز می سازد و به ماتمزدگان سُرُور و خوشی می بخشد.
12He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands can’t perform their enterprise.
12نقشۀ حیله گران را باطل می کند، آن ها را در کارهای شان ناکام می سازد
13He takes the wise in their own craftiness; the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.
13و در دامی که برای دیگران چیده اند خود شان گرفتار می شوند و نقشۀ آن ها نقش بر آب می گردد.
14They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.
14روز روشن آن ها به شب تاریک مبدل می شود و کورمال راه می روند.
15But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
15اما خدا نیازمندان و فقیران را از ظلم ظالم و از چنگ زورمندان نجات می دهد.
16So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
16به مسکینان امید می بخشد و اشخاص بی عدالت را خاموش می سازد.
17“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
17خوشا بحال کسیکه خدا او را تنبیه می کند، پس تو نباید از تنبیه قادر مطلق آزرده شوی،
18For he wounds, and binds up. He injures, and his hands make whole.
18زیرا اگر خدا کسی را مجروح می کند بعد خودش هم جراحت او را التیام می دهد، بیمار می سازد و شفا می دهد.
19He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven no evil shall touch you.
19او ترا از بلاهای گوناگون می رهاند و نمی گذارد که به تو آسیبی برسد.
20In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.
20در وقت قحطی ترا از مرگ رهائی می بخشد و هنگام جنگ از دَم شمشیر نجاتت می دهد.
21You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
21از زخم زبان و بدبختی و تباهی در امان خود نگاهت می دارد.
22At destruction and famine you shall laugh, neither shall you be afraid of the animals of the earth.
22به جنگ و قحطی می خندی و از حیوانات وحشی نمی ترسی.
23For you shall be allied with the stones of the field. The animals of the field shall be at peace with you.
23زمینی را که قلبه می کنی، بدون سنگ می باشد و با حیوانات وحشی در صلح و صفا زندگی می کنی.
24You shall know that your tent is in peace. You shall visit your fold, and shall miss nothing.
24خانه ات محفوظ بوده رمه و گله ات را کسی نمی دزدد.
25You shall know also that your seed shall be great, Your offspring as the grass of the earth.
25فرزندانت مثل سبزه های چمن زیاد شوند.
26You shall come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.
26مانند خوشۀ پختۀ گندم که در موسمش درو می شود، در پیری و سالخوردگی از جهان می روی.ما همه را تحقیق کردیم و تمام اینها حقیقت دارند. پس تو باید بپذیری.»
27Look this, we have searched it, so it is. Hear it, and know it for your good.”
