1These are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed to them,
1زمین هائی را که مردم اسرائیل در سرزمین کنعان به دست آوردند، اَلِعازار کاهن، یوشع پسر نون و سرکردگان خانواده های قوم بین شان تقسیم کردند.
2by the lot of their inheritance, as Yahweh commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.
2تقسیمات زمین به حکم قرعه و قراریکه خداوند به موسی امر فرموده بود، بین نُه و نیم قبیله صورت گرفت.
3For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
3موسی قبلاً سهم دو و نیم قبیلۀ بنی اسرائیل را در شرق دریای اُردن داده بود. اما به قبیلۀ لاوی سهمی نداد.
4For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: and they gave no portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their livestock and for their property.
4چون اولادۀ پسران یوسف، یعنی مَنَسّی و افرایم، دو قبیله را تشکیل می دادند، بنابران، به لاویان سهمی داده نشد. بغیر از شهرهائی که در آن ها زندگی می کردند و چراگاه هائی برای رمه و گلۀ شان.
5The children of Israel did as Yahweh commanded Moses, and they divided the land.
5توزیع زمین قراریکه خداوند به موسی امر فرموده بود، اجراء شد.
6Then the children of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.
6بعد نمایندگانی از قبیلۀ یهودا پیش یوشع در جِلجال آمدند و کالیب پسر یَفُنه قَنِزی به او گفت: «بیاد داری که خداوند دربارۀ من و تو در قادِش بَرنیع به بندۀ خود، موسی چه گفت؟
7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
7در آن وقت من چهل ساله بودم که موسی مرا برای جاسوسی از قادِش بَرنیع به سرزمین کنعان فرستاد. و من قرار وظیفۀ خود همه حقایق را برای او گزارش دادم.
8Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my God.
8اما برادرانی که همراه من رفتند، مردم را ترساندند. و چون من امر خداوند را از دل و جان بجا آوردم،
9Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed Yahweh my God.’
9موسی به من گفت: «آن قسمت کنعان را که تو در آن قدم گذاشتی به تو و اولاده ات برای همیشه می بخشم، زیرا تو امر خداوند، خدای مرا از دل و جان بجا آوردی.»
10“Now, behold, Yahweh has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Yahweh spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today.
10پس حالا چون می بینی که خداوند مرا هنوز زنده نگهداشته است و چهل و پنج سال پیش بود که خداوند این حرف را زد و مردم اسرائیل در بیابان سفر می کردند. هر چند حالا هشتاد و پنج ساله هستم،
11As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.
11ولی مثل زمانیکه موسی مرا به مأموریت فرستاد، قوی هستم. نیرو و قوتی را که در آن وقت داشتم، حالا هم دارم. و برای جنگ و سفر آماده ام.
12Now therefore give me this hill country, of which Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh spoke.”
12بنابران، خواهش می کنم که قرار وعدۀ خداوند این کوهستان را به من بدهی. تو بیاد داری که عناقیان در شهرهائی که دارای دیوارهای مستحکم بودند زندگی می کنند و اگر خدا بخواهد من آن ها را قرار امر خداوند از آنجا بیرون می رانم.»
13Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
13پس یوشع او را برکت داد و شهر حِبرون را به کالیب پسر یَفُنه بخشید.
14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day; because he wholly followed Yahweh, the God of Israel.
14و به این ترتیب، حِبرون تا به امروز ملکیت کالیب می باشد، زیرا اوامر خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را از صمیم دل بجا آورد.نام حِبرون قبلاً قریۀ اَربع بود. (اَربع یکی از مردان قهرمان عناقیان بود و آنجا را به افتخار او قریۀ اَربع نامیدند.) و بالاخره درآن سرزمین صلح برقرار شد.
15Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. The land had rest from war.
15نام حِبرون قبلاً قریۀ اَربع بود. (اَربع یکی از مردان قهرمان عناقیان بود و آنجا را به افتخار او قریۀ اَربع نامیدند.) و بالاخره درآن سرزمین صلح برقرار شد.
